They took his family. They think he won’t fight back. They’re dead wrong.

Darryl “Jack” Daniels isn't a hero. He’s just a rough-around-the-edges, simple Aussie bloke trying to find his way in the world. But when a corrupt cop tears his family apart to support an underground criminal empire, Jack is left with no option but to stand up and be counted.

A young female police officer, Leanne Miller, confides in Jack and offers him a help her expose the corruption festering behind the badge, and she'll help get his family back—but her deal comes with a heavy price tag.

Thrust into a ruthless world of crime and betrayal, Jack must quickly learn new skills and uphold new morals to protect the people he loves and keep himself alive, because in the outback, justice doesn’t come easy—and when the dust settles, the dirt will run red.

Fans of Jane Harper, Chris Hammer, Matthew Reilly and Lee Child will be hooked by this gritty Australian thriller full of suspense, betrayal, and heart-stopping twists. Safe to say, it is a journey like no other.

Outback Red is an excellent Australian thriller set in Queensland by Cam Shaw. When Darryl "Jack" Daniels' father died, Darryl went off the rails, and his mother did not know how to help him. When Darryl was caught stealing a car and he realised that his family was in trouble, he accepted police officer Leanne Miller's offer to go undercover with a local motorbike club to expose corrupt law enforcement officers. However, Darryl never thought this would change his life and his family's for life. Readers of Outback Red will continue to follow Darryl and Leanne Miller to discover what happens.

Reading this book, I started to understand that not all motorbike clubs are bad; they are a general group of people who enjoy riding bikes with friends, and it depends on the people involved.

Outback Red is the first book I read by Cam Shaw, and it started slowly. I started to engage with this book after finishing the 5th chapter, and it continued to the end. I liked the way he portrayed his father-in-law's stories so everyone can read and enjoy this book. Cam Shaw's portrayal of his characters and their interactions was excellent. Outback Red was well written and well researched by Cam Shaw. I felt part of the book's plot because of the way Cam Shaw described its settings.

I recommend this book.

I purchased an author signed copy at the Sunshine Coast Fiction Festival. The book description grabbed my attention and I love supporting Australian Indie Authors.

Not my normal 'go to' genre but I really enjoyed reading this story. Every night turning in early so I could read more.

Surprised to find out at the end of the book, that the protagonist was based on a real person.

Great story Cam!

A Remarkable, Action-Packed Read

A thrilling read with lots of emotional moments, tons of action, and overall a grand story. Everything was put together so well, I felt completely satisfied with the book until the end. Darryl is such a remarkable character in fiction, I found him relatable and also capable of telling a compelling story. He was a reliable narrator with a good heart, regardless of his actions. The story is character-driven, which is always lovely to read. There are plenty of morally grey characters, but personally, Darryl will always be honorable in my heart. The book is an action thriller, which is a genre I’m not very familiar with, but this story has definitely been a lovely introduction for me to this genre. I think the story will stick around in your head long after the last page is turned. I’m looking forward to seeing what else the author has in store for these characters (if anything)!

This synopsis grabbed me from the very first line! The stakes are high, the tension is raw, and the Australian outback setting adds a rugged, atmospheric edge that makes this story stand out. Darryl “Jack” Daniels feels like the kind of everyman hero readers can’t help but root for ordinary, but forced to face extraordinary danger to save his family.

Absolutely tore through Outback Red - had me hooked from the first page to the last. Many fantastic characters, some way too memorable than you’d like them to be. The nods to the Aussie way of life had me feeling very much at home in this book.

New to me author and I enjoyed the revenge thriller vibe.

Fast-paced and gritty, Jack Daniels is about an Aussie outlaw who’s forced to take on corrupt cops to save his family. Rough justice, shady deals, and high-stakes action in the outback.

An exciting & thrilling! Not for everyone, I am sure. There is rough language, but the story is one that keeps you riveted to the page until the end. I would love to read more about these characters, so maybe the author will write another one.

It’s a book with an authentic Australian “voice” and that impacts the general atmosphere of the story. I thought the characters were deeply flawed people and it just kind of seemed like it might be the author’s first attempt at writing in the genre.

lightweight biker gang trouble tale

Some writers can make an ant climbing a blade if grass fascinating Others can make biker gangs brotbels multi murders in cold blood drug sales robbery and police corruption as dull and repetitive as ditchwater
