Lila Ng’s read enough books to know real life doesn’t work like the stories.
Ben Ashcroft didn’t come back for love, he came to take everything. The florist shop her mother built. The cafe she fought to save. The heart of her community. All for his latest redevelopment project.
But she’s not the girl he left behind… and he’s no longer the boy who once whispered forever.
A sizzling enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance set in England packed with sharp banter, unresolved desire and a first love that never truly dies.
This was giving me the sniffles! I don't normally do second chance books but I just had to read this one. This was written in a great way, smooth and entertaining. It drew me in and I was happy to see we were continuing along with the book club. This can be a standalone but I enjoyed the first book and loved this one as well.
She wanted to preserve her mom's and her legacy and the legacy of other neighbors small businesses.
Saving something generational is certainly up my alley! I love small towns, history is so important! The fact that she has a small business and has some great friends and a great mom? Love that. I do so wish this were longer! I was mad at him but he is hers and they are meant to be. This poor thing has suffered and kept her head up. I was loving her friend's daughter and her interactions with her friends in this book and I can hardly wait for the next friend to get their very own HEA!

This enemy to lovers trope has everything you could ever need or ask for. Ben and Lila have such a history, and you can feel their chemistry sizzling off the page. When Ben originally broke Lilas heart he never thought that they would end up back together but when they reunite while he's trying to buy over the property to her family's bakery, he finds himself face to face with the love of his life. Going down memory lane he realizes how much he misses her and their traditions. Little does Lila know, the only reason he left was his mother dying and not being able to cope with the fact that he was not there for her during her final breaths but instead with Lila. However, he feels that it was fate that tied them back together and determined not to let her go again he begins to pursue her for the chance of forever.
Oh, what a bloody amazing read this was! The hate that simmered between Ben and Lila at the start honestly made me keep turning the pages to see HOW they were going to resolve it. This was everything that I come to expect in an enemies to lovers trope and everything from the writing, banter, tension and emotions absolutely delivered.
My only gripe is that i wished the story and been longer!
Lila and Ben have a history filled with heartbreak, which neither thought they would have to face until Ben returns to where he grew up, intent on driving through progress no matter the cost. He’s stunned when he realises that Lila is part of the opposition to his plans and he’s not prepared for the intensity of her passion or of seeing her again. His determination to push through his plans waivers the more he sees Lila, and she is equally shaken by the feelings his return causes. Recommended for readers looking for a well-paced, emotional story with strong but vulnerable main characters, feisty dialogue and satisfying steam.
Spring Ruin is the second book in the 'A Year of Desire' series by Ursula Change, and what a brilliant follow up it is.
The story follows Ben and Lila who have a history of heartbreak between them, and neither of them thought they would have to face it. That is until Ben returns to where he grew up with the determination to progress no matter what it might cost him - but he soon realised that Lila is part of the opposition to his plans.
The perfect book for those who love an enemies to lovers story or a second chance romance.

In the beginning, I wasn't a big fan of Ben, but he definitely grows on you! I like the fact that they are a bit older as you don't really get older Main character anymore, I felt like I could really understand Lila. I really liked how the author added some memories. However, I feel like there could have been more. If you need me, I will be reading Sophie's book!
Spring Ruin is Book 2 of a Year of Desire. It's a super steamy, enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance, and I loved it!!! I was glued to the pages to see how their extreme hate would transform back to love.
The banter between Ben and Lila was hysterical. I loved these characters so much and can’t wait for book 3. The chemistry was hot and the ending was happy but it was a rollercoaster to get there!.

A Second Chance romance that deals with lovers turned enemies turned lovers.
Lila is determined to save her town from a big corporation. The catch? The Corporation sends Ben , the love that was lost. And now the stakes are higher, not only will she fight for her town but she will fight falling in love all over again.
I absolutely loved this book! Small town, he’s falls first, small town, second chance. If you love these tropes you will love this book! This book is well written, great continuation to the first book, loved the way the author pulled the pieces together into a beautiful story of forgiveness and healing.

This was an entertaining second chance romance. From young heartbreak, to different sides of a battle for the town to him falling first, this book kept the banter and romance coming. A very enjoyable read.

3⭐️s 🌶️🌶️ A fun second chance romance, it was very quick to read through. Wish there would have been more of the two main characters getting to know each other again after spending so many years apart. Ben wasn’t my favorite MC.
