Olivia has one goal upon returning to London: Find Lord Langley and seduce him. It was no secret that her stepsister was a miserable excuse for a human being and the secrets shrouding her demise only added confirmation that even in death---she wasn't worthy of the handsome Lord. According to rumors, Lord Langley is after revenge, but she's after something far more dangerous. His heart. One masquerade aligns their paths in ways neither of them could have imagined. Will he succumb to the fair beauty? Or forever allow his heart to be entrenched by the beastly claws of her dead sister?
Kristin's inspiration for the romance she writes comes from her tall, dark and handsome husband with killer blue eyes. With five children to chase, she is never at a loss for someone to kiss, something to cook or some mess to clean but she loves every moment of it! She loves to make soap, sauerkraut, sourdough bread and gluten free muffins. Life is full of blessings and she praises God for the blessed and abundant life He's given her.
I really enjoyed the plot and wit between the characters. Olivia was darling, the way that Edward and Curtis spurred each other on made me smile... but the swearing between the two was a bit much for my liking.
Content: Clean, closed door intimacy after marriage. mild swear words used throughout.
Kristin Vayden has taken us on another wonderful journey back to the Regency era. Four years after being forced to leave London, Olivia and her parents have returned. Olivia has two goals for the season, find a husband and finally get answers regarding her sister's death. While attending her first ball a handsome Lord catches Olivia's eye. He just happens to be Lord Langley. Her ex-brother in law and the one man in all of London that she is forbidden to see. I enjoyed this book because it has a nice mysterious edge that keeps you wanting more. Will it all work out in the end? Did it go the way you thought it would? I also enjoyed getting a sneak peak at some of Kristin's other characters. It was like bumping into friends that you haven't seen in a while. This is a great book, I highly recommend it!!
Love the story of Olivia and Edward! All the lies and deceptions from the past doesn't prevent their love from growing! I love Curtis too and can't wait to read his story! If you love Regency you will love this romantic story with dashes of mystery and deception.
What a lovely story from Kristin. This is a great book, easy to read and a good pace.
I seem to have read it in a single day, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now looking forwarded to the next book 'How to Silence a Rake', which follows two characters in this story.
Olivia family sneaks away to the country after the death of her sister. While not knowing what had caused her sister death or why her now widowed brother in law EDWARD ASHLEY, THE VISCOUNT Langley, wishes to for her family to stay away for fours years but she do know one thing he stole her heart as a child and now wishes to find the man he use to be.
With her season in London she wishes to stay in the country she sees Edward but knows she can't approach him. With the help of Mr. Shepard the viscount's friend she she is determined to make him fall in love with her.
This was such a great book. Kristin Vayden is queen of the Historical romance genre! This one is not a cookie cutter romance, its intriguing and the Lady knows what she wants and goes after it.
I won a copy of this book in a give-away and couldn't put it down. It is a historical romance with a smart female main character. A dark shadow hangs over their family, having to do with the death of her half-sister and the involvement of her husband. Olivia doesn't give in and her intelligence and perseverance will help her solve the mystery and find the love she is looking for. There are a number of twists and sudden turns you wouldn't expect, to make sure you are kept on the edge of your seat. Lovely story and wonderful characters you want to get more of!
I found this story to be sweet. The characters are both honest and forthright people. This book is not very romantic(sexually speaking), but it is very sweet. It is also a great st o Ryan of redemption and second chances.
