The Devil's Ride: Coffin Nails MC

Rate this book
--- You don’t fuck with the club president's son. ---

Tooth. Vice President of the Coffin Nails Motorcycle Club. On a neverending quest for vengeance. The last thing he needs is becoming a permanent babysitter for a male hooker.
Lucifer. Fallen. Lost. Alone.

After a childhood filled with neglect and abuse, followed by his mother’s suicide, Lucifer set out into the world alone. There was nothing for him out there other than taking it one day at a time. As the bastard son of the Coffin Nails club president, Lucifer never got much fatherly love. So when the Nails show up at the strip joint Lucifer works in, the last thing he expects is to be put in the custody of Tooth, the Nails Vice President famous for his gruesome interrogation techniques. The man proves to be the sexiest beast Lucifer has ever met. He’s also older, straight, and an itch Luci can’t ever scratch.

Tooth’s life came to a halt twelve years ago. His lover got brutally murdered, police never found the perpetrators, and all leads were dead ends. To find peace and his own justice, Tooth joined the Coffin Nails, but years on, he’s gotten nowhere with the case, yet still lives on with the burning fire for revenge.
Babysitting a deeply scarred teenager with a talent for disappearing is the last thing on his bucket list. He promised himself to never get attached to someone like him again. To make sure the openly gay boy is safe in the clubhouse, Tooth is stuck keeping an eye on him. The big, blue, attention seeking gaze is drawing Tooth in, but fucking the president’s son is a complete no-go, even when both their feelings go beyond lust.

What Tooth doesn’t know is that Lucifer might hold the key to the closure Tooth so desperately needs.

WELL, 2 of my favourite things...MC and M/M, so give me a Gay Biker book and I'm more than happy

STORY OF TOOTH AND LUCIFER

TOOTH,32 yr old Sexy Biker

Lucifer,19yr old Twink

Lucifer is the estranged son of the President,he is brought back to the Club and Tooth is given the task of trying to get him under control and get his life back on track.Tooth is not exactly in the closet but doesn't broadcast his sexuality either.Lucifer is openly Gay...he is hilarious, his mouth has no filter.

This is a slow burner on the sex side, they develop a friendship first and don't actually get down and dirty until about 60%..but when they do it's extremely HOT.
Normally in MC books there's a side story involving Club Rivalry ( which I must admit sometimes bores me a little ).In this one the side story is something completely different that definitely held my attention, although the subject matter was difficult to read...but it totally worked here and fit into the story really well.

Not as dark or violent as the first book but still very good

REALLY ENJOYED IT!!

** 3-3,5 “You’re my home now.” STARS **

He’d never been in love before and he was beginning to wonder if THIS was what it was like. ALWAYS wanting to be around the other person, getting all HOT AND BOTHERED over them, MISSING them if they’re gone, and never feeling better than when they were CLOSE.
~ LUCI

Terrified by the sounds of broken glass, gunshots and screams coming from inside the strip club he is currently working at, the last person Lucifer, aka “Luci”, expects to see is his father. The father that had abandoned him and his mother years ago. The father that Luci hasn’t seen in years. The father that is the President of the notorious “Coffin Nails” MC. The father that wouldn’t be happy to learn that his bastard son is doing lap-dances and sucking c*ck in a dirty strip club for money…

All of a sudden Luci finds himself in the clubhouse, not quite locked down but just not allowed to leave without a leash either. Oh and he has a bulldog of a man guarding his door, making sure Luci doesn’t try to stupidly escape: Tooth, a sexy beast of older age, with a thick beard, broad shoulders and a huge body to die for… Luci is instantly drawn to this man's masculine beauty and his wish to leave that place and go back to the life he is used to becomes less and less alluring with each day he spends time around Tooth. There’s a problem though… Tooth is straight. Or is he…?

Having lost the one and only person he has ever been in love with 12 years ago, Jason “Tooth” Ulmer, VP of the “Coffin Nails” MC, has sworn off taking care of lost souls and broken people. He’s promised himself to never engage in anyone’s suffering ever again and just focus on the burning fire for revenge... But when his Prez asks him to keep an eye on his son Luci and guide him to finish high school, clean up, start a new life and…uhhhm…keep the fact that he is gay at least a little less painfully obvious, Tooth is forced to make an exception for this lonely boy that has had to look after himself because of his dead mother and unaccepting, unloving father.

Babysitting Luci means dealing with all kinds of temptation every day. He is the last thing Tooth needs to be around, with the young beautiful face Tooth wants to touch, the long blonde hair he wants to smell, the big blue eyes that draw all the butterflies in the world into his stomach, the affectionate words slipping out of his mouth that pierce through Tooth’s soul and the promiscuous sway of his hips that ignites his blood… Lucy is off limits though, being the Prez’s son and all.

Will Tooth be able to avoid the way his heart’s strings have started getting pulled by Luci? Or will he give into his feelings and finally claim the love and care Luci is gladly offering him?

The list of things Eda LOVED about this book:

#1 // TOOTH. The big scary biker dude, who is always patient and calm and completely truthful. A true protector, who doesn't only guard Luci's flesh and bone, but his emotional balance, too. A man that NEVER uses hurtful words and ALWAYS thinks before speaking. A ruthless savage of a man on the outside who hides the most tender heart inside his chest. I melted every time he called Luci a “perv” whenever he is at a lost of words and has to force himself to respectfully and gently deny Luci's advances. He is not perfect, but he is certainly perfect for Luci.

#2 // The slow emotional development between Tooth and Luci, as they get to know each other. It was sweet and funny at times, and heartbreaking at others. I wouldn't change any part of their journey to finally becoming a couple, even though the never ending sexual tension almost killed me! Yeah, there is NO SEX till you hit the 60% mark, but when you do...when Tooth and Luci finally get together, there's plenty of explosive sexy times that leave you panting and in serious need for a cold shower, LOL.

#3 // The BDSM elements. Yeah, surprisingly, it totally worked for me here. I actually think it even provided depth into the relationship.

“Hit me HARDER.

“Why?”

“It’s the only way you’re CLOSE to me.”

#4 // The dynamic between Luci and his stepbrother Bell. At first, Bell seemed genuinely irritated and maybe even disgusted by Luci, but throughout the book he softened and warmed up to him. The bond that formed between them was beautiful and very touching, I think.

So why only 3,5 stars?

Something very unnecessary happened @%80, which seriously PISSED ME OFF and things didn't pick up after that either! The almost indifferent reactions of the characters to this painful event APPALLED me! I hated it all and was VERY disappointed with all said characters.

SHOW SOME F*CKING RESPECT AND SHED AT LEAST A FEW TEARS DAMMIT!

*sobs*

OVERALL: Definitely better than Book#1. I'd recommend it, but keep in mind that it's not a “WOWZAAAA, my mind is blown!” kinda book.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise this was! I honestly liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a slow-burn romance between the Vice-President of a Motorcycle Club and the son of the same club’s President.

Tooth is a calm, responsible and intimidating biker, who is tasked to keep an eye on his President’s younger and beautiful son, Lucifer, who had run away a few years prior and was now stripping to earn money. Luci isn’t just a meek little lamb, though, and his spunk and bratty behaviour constantly keeps Tooth on his toes. They had quite a bit of banter going on and both of them develop a certain affection for the other. Luci feels taken care of for the first time in his life, and eventually falls for Tooth completely. However, Tooth is a little slower on the up-take with his feelings, not only because he doesn’t want to be in a relationship anymore due to his grieving past, but also because he doesn’t want to betray his President by hooking up with his son.

I was a big fan of the dynamic between these two. The age-gap and protectiveness here was awesome, and I adored some of their soft moments together. I also really liked that Tooth wasn’t ever mean to Luci and that he was immediately very protective of him. He was never just an arsehole for no reason, you know? And sure, sometimes I wish Luci would stand up for himself a little more, but overall it was fine.
I mean, I honestly really loved both of these characters. Tooth’s caring nature quickly made me like him a lot, and Luci had such a sweet and funny personality that I couldn’t help but adore him.

My only real complaint was Tooth’s dead ex-boyfriend. Sometimes I felt like Tooth was too stuck in the past, and kept thinking too much about avenging his dead boyfriend rather than keeping Luci safe and happy. I wanted Tooth to be completely obsessed with Luci, but I couldn’t help but feel like his ex was still equally important to him, if not maybe a bit more.

Anyway, I really liked the general plotline of this book. I was genuinely super invested in seeing Luci reconnect with his family and I loved seeing him find his own place in this new life. I actually didn’t mind the other bikers in this book either; they weren’t all that bad and I actually liked their vibe. That’s why I was so shocked and even sad when one of them died.. I didn’t see it coming at all and I actually really liked him. I was looking forward to seeing his relationship with Luci develop and strengthen, so I felt super bad when he was suddenly gone.

Long story short, I thought this was a really good story with a swoony romance. I liked it!

If I had the power to do it, I would have given this book a million stars! Oh my goodness! What was this? A heck of a ride, that's for sure.

I had SUCH fun reading this book. It was SO cute, SO funny and SOOOOOOOO hawt! The sex was sizzling hot, girls!

I didn't think I would love this book more than the first one, because this is how it usually goes. I start a series, and I always feel that no other book ever comes even close to the first book. But this was not the case here, and how ridiculously happy I am for that!!

I loved Luci (he reminded me a bit of Laurent from Laurent and The Beast). The enthusiasm he had for life made me fall in love with him. Everything he did, from blurting out things meant to be kept quiet, his crass jokes, to his sense of humour, all were like this superbly beautiful, sparkling thing I wanted to touch and own.

And Tooth! Ho, boy! He is the type of guy every guy and girl would probably dream about, so chivalrous and so hot.

I am just catching my breath right now, because you see, I couldn't breathe properly earlier, what with all the steam Luci and Tooth generated on and off page.

The bad stuff that happened was just horrifying, but I a happy that it all tied up into a neat little knot. And now I can't help but want even more of these two...

⚡️ 3.5 stars. ⚡️

“Luci laughed and took his place behind Tooth. he slid his arms around Tooth’s middle and knew that he was exactly where he was supposed to be. with the patches on his back no motherfucker would dare touch him. nobody wanted to be snatched by the Tooth Fairy.”

✦ age-gap.
✦ secret dating.
✦ outlaw motorcycle club.
✦ discipline/punishment.
✦ some dark themes, like prostitution and organ snatching.
✦ side character death. didn’t expect that one at all.😔 found it a little unnecessary tbh.
✦ this book was very enjoyable and surprising in a lot of ways.
✦ first of all, it took MONTHS for the mcs to actually get down and do the dirty. so i guess you could call this a slow burn.
✦ Luci/Lucifer/Lucky was such a sweetie pie. i liked him in the other books i read in this series, so it was no surprise that i liked him in his book too. it was sad to see him so lost and hopeless though, i honestly just wanted to give him a hug for most of this book.
✦ Tooth/Jason/Tooth Fairy was very protective and sweet, despite being in a motorcycle gang and being a well known torturer. i liked how he just wanted the best for Luci from the very beginning, and how he tried very hard to not give in to the temptation of the little devil Lucifer.🤣
✦ the two mcs were just super cute together. who would have thought? from the way they both came off from the other books i’ve read in this series (i’m not reading this series in order at all), i expected them to be completely different with each other.
✦ i was also very surprised by how easily they actually got into a real relationship, once they slept together. i expected Tooth to bail or something, but i guess this man is just too reliable to do something like that. once he was in, he was ALL in.
✦ this was a little too long tbh. i felt like it could have been at least a 100 pages shorter. it got a little draggy towards the end.
✦ the ending was quite surprising. sure, a lot of the plot was predictable as hell, but i didn’t expect actual prison time y’know??🤣
✦ anyways this was pretty good overall. probably one of my favs in this series so far.

~3.5~

I have OPINIONS, darlings. Very important opinions.

I have stayed far away from this series, even though my bestie Ele has been (gently) pushing me for ages to give it a go. I finally caved because I read the authors' Werewolves of Chernobyl and gave it four stars.

Ele knows I don't do heartbreak or heavy angst, so she recommended books 2, 6, and 9 (definitely NOT books 3 or 7 because MF, and under no circumstances book 8 because violence and abuse and Really Bad Things).

I started with The Devil's Ride, and it was a mixed bag for me.

~~Stuff I liked a lot:~~

complex, opposites-attract MCs

Luci stole my heart; he's sassy and wanton, but also vulnerable and brave. And Tooth does right by Luci from day one, even if he is annoyingly resistant to Luci's advances.

Tooth is all about the Coffin Nails Motorcycle Club brotherhood, and apparently rule 1 is: don't screw your boss's long-lost son, especially when he's thirteen years your junior.

hot sex (Tooth is so very, very dominant!)

hotter bikes

slow burn (Tooth wants to eat Luci like candy, and Luci prances around naked like he owns it. And he does.)

cool kitty (This is not a euphemism.)

great epilogue featuring vest that says Property of Tooth

Who doesn't want to be all badass like that?

~~Stuff I didn't like:~~

weird & completely improbable mystery plot

I'm not going to get into all of that, but the coincidences were numerous. If the Obvious Villain really wanted what Luci had, why would he wait so long to take it? It didn't add up for me.

the way Priest, Luci's dad, initially treats Luci

Milk cheating on his pregnant wife and everyone turning a blind eye like who cares cause women are just good for breeding anyway

the NAMES *groans* I just couldn't: Lucifer and Tooth

But I did get a kick out of Luci's voicemail greeting: "Hi, this is Lucifer, son of Satan; please leave a message."

inaccurate medical information!

At one point, a medical professional tells Luci that his blood type, O-, is the most rare. Not true! O- is the universal donor type and the fourth most common blood type after O+, A+, and B+.

Probably no one else noticed or cared, but that kind of thing bugs the crap out.

~~Stuff I REALLY didn't like:~~

unnecessary, violent death of an integral secondary character

DOLLY

I hated that bitch. She needed to go.

TORTURE

At one point, Tooth tortures a suspect (think Evil Dentist; there's a reason they call him the Tooth Fairy), and it turns out the guy knows nothing about what Tooth is investigating. So a random dude is tortured for NO REASON, and we all just move on and have lunch.

Torture is NEVER justified.

Guantánamo Bay. Nuff said.

The fact that one of the MCs basically tortures people for a living made me sick.

I don't want to round up or down because this was a true 3.5 read for me, but because GR doesn't do half stars I'm rounding down.

I liked the slow-burn, sexy romance and the sweet HEA, and I LOVED Luci & Tooth (if I didn't think about Tooth's "profession" too much), but this book was just too long and the mystery/suspense plot OTT.

3,5 stars for this hot MC story

This is my first book by K.A. Merikan and it won't be the last, that's for sure.

I love MC books and this one was my first MM MC book. The presentation made me so curious, and this one "You don’t fuck with the club president's SON" really made me read it sooner even if I had many other books in plan.

The characters were so different but they were great together. Tooth is vice president of the MC. He is 32, so sure of himself, and his heart still bleeds because he lost his lover a long time ago but still feels the need of revenge.

LUCI - I absolutely loved his name! Can't really believe how much I liked it. Lucifer not so much, but LUCI is so sweet. Just like I pictured him. 19, blond and somehow innocent, even if he had a rough life.

It was a slow burning story, but I liked the way Tooth and Luci built their trust. The sex was HOT and I didn't expect them to fit so good.

I enjoyed reading this book, but when something really bad happened, something unexpected and painful... I just couldn't believe the authors did this. And I was disappointed with the others' reaction and the way the action went at the end of the book.

Well I will definitely read some other books from this series. I am so curious about His Favorite Color Is Blood: Coffin Nails MC and Heart Ripper: Coffin Nails MC.

I never thought I would root for persons named very silly as Tooth and Luci but here I am. Completely over the moon surprisingly not only for the main characters but also the side ones too. The whole story is filled with tension, danger, drama and a lot more.

I feel like I need a food thriller after this. Haha!

Boy this really was a great read....I mean who doesn't like a BIKER right!!

One Hot Broody Biker...and one adorable blonde Twink!!

So met Tooth....

Vice President of the Coffin Nails Motorcycle Club. Tooth is ordered to babysit the Club President’s son Lucifer. This is the last thing he wants to do...the chore for Tooth was painful like pulling teeth *grins* that's where our Tooth gets he's name from....Yes told you mean, broody biker....RAWR!!

Enter Lucifer into the mix...

Luci hasn't had it easy, a dead mother and a father who doesn't acknowledge him, he's had to look after himself.

But when his father (Badass Coffin Nails President) finds out his son is stripping for money he step's in.

Luci is expected to clean up his act, go back to school, and be less GAY.....if he's father had anything to do with it!!!

Luci ends up crushing on Tooth...and the relationship builds up nice and slow....much to our eager Luci's annoyance.

He had me laughing hard, as he was always trying to sneak a peek at Tooth's Todger. Always offering to give him a blow job!! *snickers*

I love K. A. Merikan's story telling...highly entertaining...sexy as fuck.....and I always love the characters.

Did I enjoy it.....Ohhhhh yes it was....

...ingly GOOD!!

This was definitely between 4 and 5 stars for me! I LOVED IT!

How can I even begin to describe my love for Tooth? A big, bearded, muscle man that was like a teddy bear most of the time. He was Luci's protector and he fulfilled that job to a T...even when Luci was being a little brat. Tooth was patient and calm and truthful. Luci always knew what the consequences were for being 'bad', and Tooth always delivered.

It seems a little strange to say that Tooth was kind because, without a doubt, he had the capacity to be ruthless and diabolical, but if he was in your corner, he was loyal and faithful. Just don't piss him off lol. But seriously, Luci was very lucky to have Tooth. He's not perfect, but he's a 'what you see is what you get' type of man. It really didn't take me long to fall for him.

So, let's set up the story.....

Through a turn of events, Luci is taken under the wings of the Coffin Nails Motorcycle Club. The president of the club also happens to be Luci's father. Someone needs to keep an eye on Luci....enter Tooth. I won't tell you how he got the name Tooth, but let's just say that it has something to do with his 'skills' for getting answers out of people. So Tooth and Luci are stuck together while the club is searching for a girl that owes them money. Luci is openly gay so you can just imagine how well that initially goes over with a bunch of macho bikers :). Plus, the president's wife hates Luci from the start because her husband cheated on her with Luci's Mom many years back. To give you the big picture, Luci only has one friend, and it's Tooth.

A great part about this book is reading about Tooth and Luci as they get to know each other. They are truly total opposites. One of the many great things about Tooth is that he is big and powerful, but he doesn't use that to his advantage with Luci in a negative way. For example, there is a part where Luci is caught going through Tooth's things and Tooth walks in on him doing so. Tooth could have just beat Luci up to teach him a lesson. Instead, he just calmly stated 'I don't appreciate you looking through my things. Is that clear?'. Luci was even prepared for Tooth to hit him, but, he didn't. He just politely asked Luci to not do it again.

Now, mind you, there were times when

The sexual tension build up between Luci and Tooth was really perfect. My God, they both wanted each other so much and I felt really bad for Luci because he was putting himself out there shamelessly, but Tooth was being respectful and turning him down. Tooth was never cruel in his rejections, but teasing in a way to ease tension (like calling Luci a 'perv' lol).

When they finally get together it was explosive and totally H-O-T! It was definitely one of my favorite parts of the book. Right before they got together, Tooth was giving Luci a spanking and Luci asked him to hit him harder (and then explained why he wanted him to do so). It tugged at my heart a little bit and then it was totally awesome because Tooth finally let himself free and admitted he had feelings for Luci....and he acted on them. Boy did he act on them! I read it twice just to make sure that I didn't miss anything!

Even though they finally admitted their feelings for each other, they still had to keep everyting under wraps so the rest of the club wouldn't find out. First off, Tooth was the VP of the club and the president was Luci's father. Definitely a tricky situation. Plus, Luci had a step brother and sister that he was just getting to know and they would have thought that Tooth was taking advantage (when he really wasn't).

The dynamic between Luci and Bell was another great aspect of the book. Bell was also the president's son and he was Luci's step brother. At first, he seemed genuinely disgusted by Luci, but throughout the book he softened and they started to form a bond.

Aside from the relationships, there is a side story regarding Tooth's past that very much comes into the present as the story progresses.

All in all, it was an excellent read! This is a total stand alone from the first book in the series so if you haven't read the first book you don't necessarily *need* to in order to read this one. But, I would read the first one anyway just because it was also great!

If a real life Tooth does exist, may he find me sooner rather than later! :)

“Aren’t you scared of me?”......“Not really, no. You’re on my side, so I like that you’re a scary motherfucker. Makes me feel safe.”

When the son of the Coffin Nails President is found at a strip club, Tooth becomes his caretaker. Tooth is the VP and the interrogator of the club. He's huge, deadly, and stoic but stands up for Luci. Luci (Lucifer) is the illegitimate child of the President. He has had no relationship with his father, has been on his own, and survived as a sex worker since his mother's suicide. He's now back with his father, who wants to act like a parent while dealing with his growing feelings for Tooth.

I think this was the sweetest K.A. Merikan book I've read to date. Tooth and Luci's relationship was very tender (with a good dose of discipline). I really loved them as a pair. They are total opposites but made for one another. I loved the size difference, age gap, chemistry, and how Tooth was so dominant and firm with Luci.

The way Tooth cared for Luci was just adorable. He really saw him, understood his needs, and stood up for him countless times. He truly became his protector. I also loved how Luci felt like he could be vulnerable with Tooth and slowly opened up to him. This book was a slow burn and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and grow. You could really feel their connection.

"He didn’t judge Luci though. He let him cry his eyes out, held him close until Luci fell asleep, too exhausted and on the verge of a headache. No one would hurt him if it was Tooth guarding"

"Tooth made a most unusual guardian with his wild, dangerous look. No one would mess with him."

I also loved the way MC came together. Seeing Luci be accepted by his father, brother, and sister was sweet. There was a death that shocked me in the story, I did not expect that to happen at all. Also, I HATED Dolly so much. The ending was so just perfect.

Overall I really enjoyed The Devil's Ride. The vibe felt different from the first book. I liked how while it was still gritty with dark elements/themes there was such a sweet romance woven in. Can't wait to read the next book!

I read this book when it first came out. It was one wild ride, and two years later, I can safely say it's the wildest I 've ever been on. Not just because of the action; that's only a small part, considering the length of the book. But because of the unforgettable characters, and the fact that it touched so many issues in a way that offers redemption: The family we were born into but let us down, and the one we chose for ourselves later on. The loves that we lost and almost broke us, and the newfound ones that brought us home. And revenge, which doesn't make us feel any better, most times. Oh, but sometimes it does!

To this day, and after having read all books in the Sex & Mayhem series , I'm pretty sure that Luci, aka Lucky is my favorite character ever. He steals the spotlight every time, not just in this story, but in every book he happens to make a cameo appearance in. Luci is the bastard son of the Coffin Nails club president, but has nothing to do with the club. He's actuallly all alone after his mother's death. That's about to change.

Luci is such a brat! With his long, blond hair and extra tight jeans, he's a walking temptation. He's sassy and fiesty, with a unique, deadpan humor and happy-go-lucky attitude. But on the inside he's hurt and alone. The way he craved his father's love and approval kicked me in the gut. Nobody gets him. Except his new baby sitter!

Before Tooth became VP of the Coffin Nails MC, he was just Jason. Jason might have been able to move on from his horrible past, but he never forgot. And he's always on the lookout for revenge. And now he has to babysit the Club president's son, who turns out to be big pain in the ass. Tooth offers a calm presence and has a quiet strength. He's also a big, scary motherfucker when pissed!

The burn in this story is slooooow...There is actually no sex at all until 60% (spanking scenes not withstanding!). But the authors use this time wisely. There is a bond building between the MCs, and an undeniable chemistry. Luci gets to know his siblings and tries to be a part of a "family" for the first time. But when he finally gets together with Tooth, there are fireworks!

This is not a brutal book, compared to some of the other books in the series. There is some violence, but not too much, and definately NOT between the MCs (spanking scenes not withstanding!). Keep in mind, though, that this is a MC setting. A real one! There are guns, death, and grief. Is it necessary? Like in the first book, I believe there's absolutely no way to answer this. It is bikers world and shit like that happens. The ony thing you can be sure of, when you pick up a book by these authors, is the solid HEA.

I 've said it before, nobody writes action scenes like The Merikans. Here the action scene is one of my favorites. Just thinking about Tooth and Ghost looking at each other under that table….serious goosebumps, people.

What I’m trying to say, in not so few words, is that this story ticked each and every one of my boxes. It’s one of my all time favorite MM books, and needless to say, I very highly recommend it!

What to say about this one. It wasn't bad, but for me it wasn't very good either. Most of the things that bugged me were personal preferences. I don't like my characters being discribed as looking like "blackbeard" That was such a fucking turn off. Also don't like guys being discribed as looking like a girl. So yeahhh I didn't think it was all that hot. Sure the sexscenes were oke, but I couldn't get the character discriptions out of my head. I like biker books and hot bikers but this one just didn't do it for me. I just couldn't understand why luci would let everybody boss him around, it really pissed me off. The storyline was oke...but that's just it....it was just oke

Not your run of the mill M/M story.

Previously I only read KA Merikan's Guns n' Boys series, but I decided to try their Sex & Mayhem, the biker M/M series while awaiting for Dom and Seth. In a lot of ways, their writing style is still the same. I can always count on their unique plot and surprising revelation at every turn. I still got Merikan's classic beta hero that isn't ashamed of their femininity. They can be a great homemaker that can rival Martha Stewart or in this case a great groomer with a long shiny blonde hair.

Lucifer, 19, is the Coffin Nail MC's President's bastard son. Ever since living on the street since the death of his mother, he had been working as a lap dancer and offering BJs. All of a sudden, his lonely life was uprooted when his father decided to move him into the clubhouse and to set his life straight.

Luci is a rebellious boy and can't stop provoking everyone of his sexuality. But underneath his slutty attitude hide an insecure boy who had went through a childhood of neglect and abuse. All Luci wants is acceptance from his father and a home that he can be safe.

description

Tooth, 32, is the VP of the Coffin Nails. He looks super badass in the first scene, but he is essentially a good guy, the responsible and calm one. When Luci was placed under his care, he took it upon himself to discipline this lost boy and show him a better future.

Everyone assume Tooth is straight, including Luci. But I find it hard to believe that Luci didn't suspect anything from the way Tooth was so touchy feely with him. I mean, two straights guy wouldn't cuddle on the same bed. Anyway, I enjoyed reading their intimate moments even though it was not meant to be sexual. They spent half the book being friends and confident to each other, which make me really admire Tooth. Luci is crushing big time on Tooth, which is understandable.

"Hit me harder."
"Why?"
"It's the only way you're close to me."

description

There are a lot of things going on in this book. From a missing woman, family drama, to organ snatcher and revenge. I find the story highly entertaining and couldn't find a moment to put it down for a rest. The blossoming love between Tooth and Luci was very heartwarming too. Luci kept making me cry every time he starts crying. He is the kind of character that I want to cuddle him up and protect him from all the nasty people. Thank goodness Tooth is always there for him.

"When I'm next to you, my heart beats so hard... I get hot all over. I always miss you when you're not there."

I totally love KA Merikan's work and I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

I truly never wanted this one to end.

An amazing, slow-simmering romance. The naughty young boy (Luci) meets his older match (Tooth), the guy who's totally prepared to 'punish' him for his bratty behaviour *wink wink*.

The whole organ snatching story was horrible, but so so clever. I loved it :D

* 'Watching Luci handle his bike was as intimate as letting him handle his dick. Yeah, he wanted him to polish the bike. "I let him groom my beard, don't I? Why not the bike?"

* '...no motherfucker would touch him. No one wanted to be abducted by the 'Tooth Fairy'.

I would recommend this series to anyone who loves some good, sexy M/M action and to people who love a gritty biker book. If you like both? Then you are gonna LOVE this one :D

I mostly loved this story. Both Tooth and Luci were fantastic characters and I LOVED them together. It takes seemingly forever for Tooth to give in to Luci, but when he does -- HAWT! But, like the first book in this series, you spend time getting to know all these characters only to have one of them end up dead (not gonna tell you who). I get that this series is gritty and dark, but damn, was that really necessary? And then the last 2 chapters kind of left me going, "huh?" Don't worry, Tooth and Luci get their HEA, I'm just trying to figure out what really happened there.

Thoughts to come but for now I will say this ... I mulled over everything at great length. Quite a few things have impacted my opinion and subsequently, my overall rating. It's unfortunate but the impact is a true one and I no longer see the MCs HERE in the same light. I still liked this book, that doesn't change. But I no longer hold the MCs in as high a fashion as I did beforehand. To make matters worse, Tooth and Luci were (from my perspective at least) complete and utter douchebags in book #4, and I absolutely COULD NOT ignore that. Not there and not here. I no longer see things HERE in the same light. It's incredibly rare for a book to cause me to react so vehemently in such a negative way, but so it goes. I get why so many people adore these books ... I do ... it caters to its target (and the authors are very talented), it's just not for me. This is supremely unfortunate. This is also my final rating.

THEE perfect 'Tooth' ;-). Isn't he absolutely STUNNING?!!? I am not a fan of beards (at all), but he if has to have one, he better look like this :-D *grinning shamelessly*:

Honorable Mention: I have to give worthy credit (and a clapping of hands) to Lisa *-* GiViNg It To YoU * LoCk StOcK & TwO SmOkiNg BaRrELs for finding this gorgeous man :-)!!

I have many words and thoughts to share ... BUT in the meantime, I thought I'd paste all my updates. It's something I used to do on Leafmarks - since I don't fall in line with the traditional "review", I feel like this is the next best thing. My updates are going to be my version of a review in the future [as I plan on getting back to them being pretty invested]:

Disclaimer: The following updates may have spoilers. Proceed at your own risk.

General Note: These books [i.e. this series] have/has been on my radar for a while now, and seeing it on my newsfeed reminded me I need to get started :-)! After having been promised that there is absolutely NO cheating in these books whatsoever and that there are great HEAs for all the MCs [the former being a hard limit and the latter being an absolute prerequisite], I know I am willing to go through almost any of the violence and darkness these books have to offer, as long as there's a beautiful HEA at the end :-). The only books I will definitely be skipping are #3 and #7, which are both M/F books!! That said, I have #1, #2, #4, #5, #6, #8, and #9 in my active queue :-). I have a strong feeling I am going to have a lot of fun here!!

Audio: 4 stars

Book: 4 stars

These two are giving Grim and Misha a run for their money for favorite couple of this series haha.

I enjoyed seeing Tooth and Luci’s relationship bloom from beginning to end, felt more authentic compared to some other MC romances.

I think I might try a different series/universe by KA Merikan, gotta see what else they have to offer!

Is this book a literary masterpiece? No.
Did I still like it? Yes!

Tooth and Luci had good chemistry and the constant tension and battle of wills made this a very entertaining read. I wish it had gone on a little longer before they actually got together, but I don’t want to complain.

This was the perfect palate cleanser, and even if I probably won’t remember this story for long, I want it to be known that I still enjoyed it!

I’m not able to enter a church without going up in flames anyway, so I might as well enjoy the long way down to hell with lots of spicy books ✌🏻

4.5

When you're hiding from a biker gang, in fear of your life, wearing nothing but some sexy, skin-tight leggings, the last person you expect to see heading the gang is your dad. But this is exactly what happens to Luci - or Lucifer, to give him his real name - and yep, the story just gets better and better from there on in.

I've not read a lot of biker books, and what I have read was many moons ago, yet everything about this book appealed to me as soon as the request to read and review came in. I know I like the Merikan's writing. I really do. They are the right side of quirky for me, interesting characters and scenarios, but always with a plot that makes sense. Whatever impression I have of a story going in I can always, pretty much, guarantee I'm going to like their characters. None of whom are written in a black and white, good or bad way. The good characters aren't perfect, the bad ones not entirely evil - mostly, and this makes for a story I'm invested in and interested in. This book was no exception.

The gruff biker vice president, with a penchant for pulling teeth sans anaesthetic and a secret nobody knows, paired with the out and proud ex-stripper twink who happens to be the gang's leader's son, the book was bound to be interesting. And it really was. I have to be fair and say some of the plot turns I figured out before the end, not all of them though. The story still kept me hooked. The balance of emotional/relationship plot to actual action plot was perfect for me.

I eventually loved the relationship between Luci and Tooth, though at first I wasn't so keen on it. As the story developed so did my love for them as a potential couple. At first Tooth got on my nerves. I was pulling for Lucifer and wanted him to get away from Tooth and the club...as time went on though, I found myself changing my opinion entirely and rooting so hard for them both.

I would say if you're a biker fan, or a fan of the Merikan's you'll enjoy this book. If you're even a little bit interested, give it a try. Heck, if you enter the competion below you might even win a copy for free. I'd say it's worth it, most definitely.

Mother fuck, the internet ate my review! Trying again, but it won't be as pretty!

So, first off, I have to apologize to the authors, who sent me this book shortly before release, and I'm just now getting around to it. I have no real excuse, other than that I suck, and there were no characters named Derek or Stiles in the mix.

But I finally sat down and really started reading, and now I'm kicking myself for taking so long.

I really enjoyed all the characters, especially Lucifer(Luci) and Tooth. This book was a much slower burn than book 1, with the characters not together in any way other than dependent and then friends, until almost 60% of the book. Tooth is given charge of Luci, the club president's son. He doesn't know how he's supposed to be so close to someone like Luci without getting his hands on him (and outing himself in the process) and Luci just doesn't know how long he can stand to live with such a hot, STRAIGHT guy. So before there is any sexitimes at all, we get to watch the guys get to know each other, and come to trust each other.

I really could have done without the character of Dolly. I would have actually preferred to see her as more of a mom-like character to Luci, considering he never really had that, but the character was once again used to fulfill some sort of bitchy female quotient in this type of books.

I did think the biker crew was a bit too accepting of Tooth being gay once they finally found out, but for all that, it was nice to not have to see the slurs and blatant homophobia that you'd expect to see in an environment like this. Maybe it was because they'd already had all that time to get used to Luci.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book, and now am looking forward to the next one. Here's looking at you, Ghost!

Even better than the first in the series. Loved the slooooooow burn, the kink, the feelz, and even the brutal WTF? moments that felt totally appropriate in a biker story.

4.5 rounded up.
He’d never been in love before and he was beginning to wonder if this was what it was like. Always wanting to be around the other person, getting all hot and bothered over them, missing them if they were gone, and never feeling better than when they were close.
Lucifer lived a life on the streets following his mother's suicide. Nothing came easy, but the one thing he always had was his sexuality. As they say, sex sells, and it also makes sure you have a roof over your head and food in your belly.

The last thing he's expecting is for the Coffin Nails to burst into the club he's working at, nor for them to be led by his father of all people. But by the look of things, his dad wasn't exactly expecting to see him there either.

Taken in by the Coffin Nails, he's babysat by the VP of the club, Tooth - a large, scary looking man, also known as Luci's new type. Through the months together they grow to know one another, but that's just not enough. With the hectic life in a biker club, people disappearing, and organs being taken, one has to wonder... is there actually time for love?
“None of the guys know about me. It’s just you. It kind of feels nice to have someone know about it at home.”

“Now I know how you must have felt when the Nails took you in.” Luci took a deep breath.

Tooth drank some coffee. “In what sense?”

The boy ate some more of his veggies without looking up. “That you have a home.”

Tooth bit his lip. “I guess... do you feel more at home now?”

“You’re my home now.”
So I read the first book in the series, and I definitely enjoyed it, but this book... oh boy. This one was just fanfreakingtastic.

Lately I've been reading books that miss the entire relationship building part of life. It's like characters meet each other, maybe have sex, and bam - love. It's been driving me mildly insane, so when I read this one, and I got an actual build up, I was so, so ecstatic. Yes, there's attraction and sparks, but things don't suddenly happen. In fact, they don't get together until after the halfway mark. At first I was worried that would bother me, considering the length of the book, but Kat & Agnes did a great job of actually keeping me interested for that whole time. Sure, they could've cut it down by 200 pages and made it happen much quicker. Would it have been nearly as satisfying? Not at all.

And when they do get together, whoo boy. They are beyond delicious, which is what I've come to expect from K & A, but this was just above and beyond on the hotness level.

I've also made comments to K & A before about giving their characters depth and making sure that their characters don't melt too much into each other. I can see how much they've grown with this one. I felt like both Luci and Tooth had much more depth than I've seen in other characters in books by K & A (still good books, mind you).

I do have a bit of an issue with some minor editing problems. There were some spelling mistakes/names off just a bit. Still, it didn't take away too much from my enjoyment.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this one. The plot was fun, the characters were complex and likable, and it was steamy hot. Can't wait to see more!

4.5 Stars. Slow Burn. Gritty. Hot AF.

Always expect the unexpected with a book penned by K.A. Merikan and The Devil's Ride is the perfect example.

I loved Lucifer/Luci/Lucky and Tooth/Jason, the heroes and the entire cast of secondary characters, including Beast the goat .

Their slow burn, steamy, gritty, unapologetic raw , violent and at times gruesome journey to HFN/HEA was entertaining, page turning , adventurous and refreshing.

Wyatt Baker narration was engaging. He sounded like he was having a good time and it made me feel very connected with the going ons of the story.

Will Re-read/listen : Yes
Recommend : Yes , specially for listeners who don't want a cookie cutter approach to MM romance books.

2 evil stars!

“I was just saying ‘hello’ to your dick, that’s all.”

Introducing Luci, a blond twink with a smart-ass mouth and dick sucking lips. He was a hooker, until he met Tooth, a handsome big badass biker. Along with Tooth was the whole Coffin Nail Club and a whole new life and family. As Luci and Tooth struggled with their desire for each other, life was getting better for Luci. But when he thought everything was going okay, his past came crawling back to him together with the danger of the present.

“Whatever, we don’t have to talk then. You’re so rude. All I did was offer a friendly blow job.”

Luci's character would have been an endless amusement to me. He made me laugh and smile. But he also annoyed. In the end, I couldn't get myself to really like his character. There were times he was so childish it was annoying.

“‘Cause it pisses me off! You go off to fuck two guys, and I can’t even get to suck your cock? Fuck that!”

It was disappointing because I usually enjoy bratty twinks but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy his petulant side in this book.

Tooth wasn't any better. The execution of his character was quite lacking. Although, I did like him sometimes in the book. Specially when he and Luci weren't being obsessed with ogling each other. Or wet day dreaming about one another. It happened more than I could count all over half the book.

The sex was bland. I thought at first it was good with all the spanking and UST.I even got excited but as the story went on, it became tasteless and came off like obligatory sex for the readers. :/

The writing was... awkward and occasionally confusing. Most discernible at the first 20% of the book. I almost dropped it because I was having a hard time with it . It got better though but there were still moments it failed and it was quite a damp on my reading appetite.

There were also useless stupidities I really got irritated with.

The whole book just left a bitter taste to my mouth. This was disappointing. I tried liking this book since it wasn't that bad all the time. But as a whole, it wasn't good either [well, at lest for me].
Anyway, I like the book cover but I'm giving up on this author.
