Juniper Mayfair is cursed by Chaos. Or so she has been told. And it is well known that children with Chaos may never visit Miracle, the private island that gifts its visitors magic for twenty-four hours. What others don't realise, however, is that Juniper's Chaos comes in the form of a pesky ghost-who-claims-he's-not-a-ghost named Finnegan Frost. So, when Juniper receives an elusive ticket to Miracle, she believes all her wishes have come true. After all, that's what the island promises. On the island, though, she discovers that nothing is as it seems. Miracle is not bringing wishes to life, but nightmares. Juniper and her new friends must uncover the secrets of Miracle to rid the world of Chaos-for good. But first, they must survive the island ...
My very first book review, and I’m the first reviewer of this book on Goodreads 😍 I loved this book so much! I really hope there is a second one planned because I really want to know what happens next! I’m so pleased my mum saw this book recommended by the authors relative on Instagram. I hope she writes lots more!!
I read this book with my almost 8yo at bedtime for a few weeks and it was captivating! We were both hooked from the beginning, always wanting to know what was going to happen next.
Juniper is a wonderful protagonist, and her sidekick, Finnegan, is cheeky and loveable. As the description of chaos was presented early on, my daughter wondered if it was ADHD, which was an observation I’d already drawn parallels to. But as you continue reading, it becomes apparent it is something else entirely.
The messages of strength, bravery, self-belief, perseverance and resilience are wonderful for young readers to hear, while the friendship formed with Izzy and Oscar helps to drive the story.
I only hope there is a sequel to Miracle, as there are some loose ends which I am desperate to have resolved! We both give this 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This extraordinary book written by Shara Curlett is absolutely amazing. I would strongly recommend this book to 8-12 year olds. People who like adventure would enjoy this too. This book features excellent description and vivid language. Three curious children - Juniper, Oscar and Izzy meet each other in a different world, Miracle. With the main character being Juniper, her aunt, Aunt Muriel went into the bathroom and never came out again. Will Juniper ever meet her aunt again?
I read Welcome to Miracle to my children and we really enjoyed it. The story took a few twists and turns, with some larger than life villans and a sense of scale that made it quite cinematic. We especially loved the slime monster. I could imagine it adapted to a movie in the spirit of Harry Potter, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, or even Labyrinth. A real magical adventure that kept us guessing, and turning the pages.
Ordered this one on eBay all the way from Australia. While it started off a little bit slower it amped up and was a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be keeping an eye on Australian kids lit and this author for sure in the future!
An exciting adventure with endless twists and turns that’ll keep you glued to the page and on the edge of your seat, but also a deeply moving story with characters who’ll capture your heart. A very impressive debut from Curlett!
the kids would give this 10 stars!! gorgeous characters who have bewitched the kids, loving every minute of this perfect bedtime read for our 5 and 7 year olds.
