Never give up on second chances.

Cuckoo
has always been a jokester. He’s the type of guy who sees humor in everything because, at one time, he never thought he’d ever laugh again.
It began in tender years when he found an old trunk full of costumes. A Beggar’s Night filled with candy, secrets, and screams. Cuckoo can still hear the shrill sounds in his dreams.
And then there was her. His foster sister and the little angel he swore to protect. Cuckoo took those beatings for her. He lied for her. He gave up everything. . . for Katrina.
And then she disappeared. A ghost in the darkness. He never saw her again.
Fifteen years later, Cuckoo still has all those costumes. He checks every corner and peers through every open door. Because he knows someday he’ll see his angel again.
He just never expects to collide with her while riding his Harley. Katrina isn’t the little girl from his childhood, but he isn’t the same boy either. They’re both trying to shove the past behind a locked door.
But the funny thing about trauma? It never stays hidden. With Katrina’s life in danger and the clock ticking, Cuckoo must find a way to keep her safe and end the bastard threatening them both.
And this masked vigilante role? It’s one Cuckoo was born to play.

Cuckoo is a full-length, dark romance with a paranormal twist, violence, biker slang, forced proximity, and a protective stalker outlaw in a foster sibling, friends to lovers, second chance, suspenseful adventure. For best enjoyment, the series should be read in order since ongoing storylines and characters appear throughout and overlap.

Cuckoo is book 7 in the Devil's Murder MC series written by the amazing author Nikki Landis. She has done it yet again, I was hooked from the first page and wish I could give this more than 5 stars. I swear I fall more and more in love with this author and this series with every book I read. This is
Rain & Katrina full-length, dark romance with a paranormal twist, violence, biker slang, forced proximity, and a protective stalker outlaw in a foster sibling, friends to lovers, second chance, suspenseful story. This story hits every one of those "touch her and die" vibes. For best enjoyment,
the series should be read in order since ongoing story lines and characters appear throughout and overlap. Can't wait for the next book!

This is so flipping good. Cuckoo and Katrina grew up in foster care for well for 8 years together. Then, one day, Katrina was gone. What happened to her? Cuckoo always wondered. Finding her again brought all his feelings for her back to life. Cuckoo was always her protector back then, and nothing has changed that. Finding out what Cuckoo went through explains a lot about the way he is. Will Katrina and Cuckoo get their happy ever after? I know, but I'm not telling. Read this for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Nikki Landis has knocked it out of the park again. I can't wait to read Claw, but I guess I'll have to. I'm still really excited about Carrion he absolutely intrigues me. I highly recommend reading this and everything Nikki Landis writes.

Absolutely fabulous!!

I can never get enough of Nikki's stories! This book is about Cuckoo and Katrina as they find their way back to each other. They were foster siblings until Katrina was adopted. They were bonded back then but when he finds her they fall into grown up love. I always enjoy the paranormal aspects of Nikki's books. I read this story in one sitting, I had to reach their happily ever after. I do highly recommend this book!

Cuckoo by Nikki Landis was the soul-wrenching story of Cuckoo and Katrina. He was her protector…since she was five. Then, she was gone. Just gone. Now, twelve years later, he finds her again. This time, he will stop at nothing to keep her safe.

Cuckoo was just soooooooooo perfect!!! The things he helped her with…prevented for her…protected her from. It was so much!!! Katrina was resilient and persevered. So much strength!!! Absolutely my fav story from the Devil’s Murder MC!!!

Cuckoo

I couldn’t wait to get Cuckoo’s story. I have loved him since his first appearance, silly costumes and all.
Learning his backstory and knowing what he went through makes him all the more endearing.
Katrina stole his heart when they were little. Twelve years later she still owns him.
They face the past and together they fight through the nightmare come to life.
As always this author knows exactly how to grab you and not let go. Paranormal MC romance at its finest!!

Nikki Landis is an automatic read for me. Since discovering her Reapers books I have binged every book of hers I can find and Cuckoo's book did not disappoint. In previous Devil's Murder MC books Cuckoo always made me laugh with his crazy costumes and I couldn't wait to read his story. Love these unique characters and can't wait to read future books in this series.

Awww I loved this book more than I thought I would. Cuckoo will win you over with no problem. His costumes are so funny but once you learn why he wears them it’s actually touching. This is a story of puppy love that never went away. When he sees her years later the puppy love just blossoms into so much more. Great book!

Cuckoo!!

Oh my days!! See!! Never judge a book by its cover! I knew that there was so much more to Cuckoo then he lets people see!!
He hides it well behind a wall of dress up and zero fucks but I know the brothers see him. However, they don’t know the full story and when his past collides with his present, he will burn the fucking world down to keep her safe!
What a read!!

Never underestimate crazy

Love, love this book.
Cuckoo and Katrina, will they finally get the chance to finish what they started as teens. They spent 8 years together only to be ripped apart. Now after twelve long years they are finally going to get their chance at happiness, well at least I hope they do.
I loved seeing Rael come into play as well. He is my second most love Reaper.
I found the plot simple but intriguing. The characters added to the plot and the story.

Cuckoo had grown up in a foster home, and the only good thing that came from that was when the five-year-old girl Katrina entered their life. He was determined to protect her even though he was a child himself, but there was no way he was letting the monsters near this angel.

She was thirteen the last time he saw her, but she loved when they were able to sneak out and dress up for Halloween and he promised to keep wearing them. She wanted to always think of him and remember the costumes and the great times they had enjoyed.

Now he wore them every day and he never got tired of his MC brothers asking him 'What the H3LL was he wearing?' since he loved mixing them up and the more bizarre the happier he is.

It had been twelve years since he had seen her. When their computer hacker, Eagle Eye, offered to find her for him, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to make sure she was okay.

Katrina recognized him as soon as she left the library. Rain. She was lucky to have been adopted by a nice family, but she had never forgotten him. And the man sitting on his Harley wearing a costume was hard to ignore.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Even though this story has its own HEA, I would suggest that you read this series in order as the characters are recurring and there is an underlying enemy throughout the series.

This is a story I have been waiting for since Cuckoo was introduced to us. I had to meet the crazy behind the costumes lol and I wasn't disappointed. All of Nikki Landis's MC romances run on the dark side, but Cuckoo's story has the most heartbreaking abusive childhood. And those who would abuse children were still out there and they had also found Katrina and were determined to get her back.

This book is action-packed and full of danger. Although there are several MC club series, you will get Easter egg moments as the series intersect, and this one crosses over with the same enemy in My Inked Neighbor. Despite the very dark undertones of this story it is smoking hot and Cuckoo may be one of my favorites. He will definitely keep you laughing as you wonder what he will be wearing the next day. Highly recommend!

Oh, So Good

This author always does an amazing job of bringing her crazy MC alpha bikers to their knees when they find their mate. Rain/Cuckoo and Katrina had a history in the foster care system and it was one that was dark and gritty. After Katrina was adopted, Rain had no idea where she went. Now he’s found her and he isn’t going to let her go. He will be there to protect from the horrendous people from their past.

What a fantastic storyline this author has created yet again. I have fallen for all of her MC men and their other halves. I highly recommend this book as well as her other books. I can’t wait to read what she has coming next.

3.75stars-CUCKOO is the seventh instalment in Nikki Landis’ contemporary, adult DEVIL’S MURDER MC erotic, paranormal, MC romance series. This is twenty -eight year old, MC member Cuckoo aka Rain, and twenty-five year old Katrina Simmons’ story line. CUCKOO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. For followers of Nikki Landis, there is a slight crossover with the author’s GRAVEN BASTARDS MC: Tonopah NV series

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cuckoo and Katrina) CUCKOO follows the search for our story line heroine. Cuckoo aka Rain and Katrina grew up in the foster care system, where Rain would become Katrina’s guardian and protect but twelve years earlier, Katrina was adopted leaving Rain to struggle with what was left behind. Fast forward to present day, Rain, now known as Cuckoo was getting restless, and he and his ‘crow’ needed their mate. With the help of fellow MC brother Eagle Eye, Cuckoo will reconnect with our story line heroine, and their bond is instant but all is not well in Katrina’s life-she is a woman in hiding, from the people she believes destroyed her life.

The world building follows the search for, and rebuilding relationship between our story line couple. Raised together in foster care, Cuckoo became the target of the men taking aim at our story line heroine, yet, Katrina often found herself at the mercy of the worst kind of people, people willing to hurt young children and teens..

The relationship between Cuckoo and Katrina is one of second chances, of a sort. Katrina never forgot the boy who protected more than her heart; Cuckoo knew that our heroine is his fated mate but the past was refusing to let go, and the bitter memories and reminders were too hard to face alone. The $ex scene are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and dynamic. We are reintroduced to several members of the Devil’s Murder MC, bar owner Lucky Lou; tattooist Diablo, as well as a cameo from Rael, Graven Bastards MC, and Katrina’s adopted parents Trent and Sabrina.

CUCKOO is a quick read; a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, retribution and punishment, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is dramatic and edgy; the romance is limited but passionate; the characters are determined and desperate.

I have been waiting for Ms. Landis to give us our costume wearing MC brother, Cuckoo’s, story because I just knew it would a dandy. Well let me tell you, she did not disappoint me. This is a very well written, emotional, heartbreaking, heartmending romantic MC ride. We not only learn why Cuckoo wears/hides behind the costumes, but we get a heartbreaking look into his past before he found the Devil’s Murder MC. A past that involves a little girl, Katrina, who he protected with his life while they were in foster care for almost 8 years. That is up until she disappeared without a trace. It’s now 15 years later and she suddenly appears back in his life. Only now she is a strong, independent woman on the outside but is still that traumatized child on the inside, just as Cuckoo is. When the two reconnect will it be all hearts and roses or will it just bring back all the pain and hurts from their childhood.

This is an outstanding read with an emotional storyline, but so worth reading. It’s part of an equally amazing MC Romance series with a paranormal twist (in true Nikki Landi fashion) that I highly recommend as well. The storylines of the series do overlap so they are best read in order for a heightened reading experience. Grab them up asap, you won’t regret it.

Cuckoo has been one of our favorite characters, as he always made us laugh. We are glad that he got his second chance at his happily ever after.

We loved seeing how different Katrina was from Cuckoo, as it gave Cuckoo a chance to be a bit devious on how her was going to corrupt his Angel, as he called her.

The connection between Katrina and Cuckoo was heartwarming, and we enjoyed learning about the origins of his costumes. The plot was engaging, with a mix of wonderful characters and paranormal elements that kept us hooked. It was great to see familiar characters from other series make appearances in this book. Learning about their past was heartbreaking. Even then, Cuckoo was a protector and savior, and it seemed he would be needed once again.

This story was packed with suspense and healing, moving on from one's past, surprises, love, friendship, family, mystery, and some disturbing dark elements. Our favorite part of the story was all about the costumes and how they played a part and gave us a good belly laugh.. Another awesome read in this wonderful series.

I really enjoyed this story. It has hot alpha males, who love and protect what theirs furiously and throw in some
Anguish and paranormal and you have a hit.
Cuckoo is a strong character. He enjoys wearing costumes and keeps people guessing at what he will wear next. He grew up in foster care where is protected a little girl until she disappeared. He never forgot her or stopped loving her.
Katrina lost her parents at the age of five. She was sent to an abusive home but was cared for and protected by Rain her foster brother .
This story is so heartbreaking, the two main characters have experienced so much hurt in their lives.
When Cuckoo finds Katrina again he vows to protect her and not let her go. She is his.
There are a lot of plot twist going on in the story. You will have to ride this one out to all the twists and turns and get the answers you seek.
This is the first book have read by this author but I am looking forward to reading others.

This is the seventh book in this phenomenal series, and this is Cuckoo and Katrina’s story.
Cuckoo is the jokester, who sees the humor in any situation, and while he and Katrina are in foster care together, he protects her from the beatings, and then she disappears. Now 15-years later Cuckoo finds Katrina again, and they are both trying to move on from their pasts. Karins is in danger, and Cuckoo is determined to keep her safe and protected by any means.
This is a well written action-packed story, with found family, friendships, emotions, danger, suspense, intrigue, friends / lovers, secrets, heartbreak, touch her and die vibes, trauma, second chances, revelation, healing, a paranormal twist, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the seventh book in the Devil's Murder MC Series. This is the story of Cuckoo and Katrina. When they were younger these two were in foster care and had horrible foster parents. He swore that he would always protect her no matter the cost to him. And protect her he did. Until the day she disappeared and he never saw her again. Now fifteen years have passed and he is getting restless. He and his crow need to find their mate. But it just isn't happening. However, one day he sees her again and they begin to reconnect. This is a really good story. I loved every single second of it and it was over so quickly because I was reading so fast. I love a good MC read and this one has a paranormal side to it too.

Cuckoo and Katrina pulled at my heartstrings so strongly. Two kids who met early in life and stood firmly together, proving that they would always be in each other's lives. Cuckoo is the guy who makes everyone laugh, never seeming to be serious but burying the hurt. When they end up separated, you know that life isn't done with them just yet, giving them a chance to reconnect when tenacity plays a huge role in Cuckoo's personality. He never gave up on finding his sweet girl, an endearing trait for a tough biker. Katrina proved how resilient she was, continually striving to better herself and moving on despite the horrors that haunted her mind. She's proud of her life, and when she gets a second chance with Cuckoo, they both grab it. There were moments of sadness, great joy, and devotion throughout this book, making it an easy favourite.

Loved seeing Cuckoo get his HEA. While this book does have dark subject matter like all the others, it’s not quite as dark seeing as it’s mostly memories that have happened in Cuckoo and Katrina’s past. Also looks to be a set of bad guys for up coming books.

Cuckoo and Katrina are each other’s first love back when it was innocent and sweet and when they only had each other to cling to in the horrors of their shared childhood. She was ripped from him with no explanation never to be seen from until one day, 12 years later he finally has Eagle Eye help him find her. Then they get to share a new kind of love.

We find out the reason behind all the crazy costumes he wears, because of a promise to her when they were teens. I loved that her family was quick to accept him, especially as crazy as he can be.

Wow, I am in love with Rain "Cuckoo" and Katrina "Angel", not to mention all the other members of the Devil's Murder MC. This story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I loved the humor, drama, danger and romance. Some topics may sometimes be tough to read but they are written so well and leave you wanting more. Amazing story with characters I care what happens to them, they became family to me. Nikki Landis just has a way that invites you in and you never want to leave, her stories weave around you and keep you there in her world. I highly recommend this series, book and author!!!!

Finally, Cuckoo's story arrived. He was a curiosity with the costumes he always wore. This story touched my heart very deeply. The past that Katrina and Cuckoo shared was so tragic. Feelings were still strong between them, though danger followed them. I loved how Cuckoo made sure to show off his costumes to show that he never forgot her and how Katrina accepted his paranormal side without any real questions. Definitely a wonderfully dark romance with that paranormal aspect that connects this MC brotherhood. I look forward to the next in this series.

Cuckoo by Nicki Landis

This is Cuckoo and Katrina’s story. They met in a foster home. A horrible foster home. Cuckoo had protected her since she was five and he was eight. He kept her safe from the monsters. She was adopted at thirteen but they weren’t able to say goodbye so Cuckoo never knew what happened to her. They met again when Cuckoo had a brother do a computer check to find her. Details from her past were exposed making protection necessary. HEA was there for them after more drama.
