A daring debut poetry volume 30 years in the making.firewords is a full-color, sweet and saucy collection of poems about relationships, heartbreak lust and love. Written between 1995 and 2024, the progression of voice follows an ever-expanding experience of endearment in all its iterations. Lines evoke a first love and first loss. Motherhood after so long a wait. Falling in and out of love. And, yes, the feverish press of foreign flesh.
Readers relate to the poignant stanzas in their own personal way. Asking questions. Nodding in recognition. With a throbbing heart. With a blaze of passion.
firewords includes previously published poems as well as works never seen before. Works include free verse, form poetry, a funky collection of 30-year-old magnetic poems that are oddly sexual as magnetic poems tend to be. Turn to any poem and allow it to speak to you, or read them in order for a waterbed effect of rising and falling, rolling and sloshing along with the poet.
This poetry volume is intended to be shared. Leave your book on the coffee table to deepen conversation with visitors. It’s ok with the poet if your pet chews on the corners because everything is better with character and pet hair. Give copies to friends, a lover, adult child, or complete strangers with your favorite and their future favorite poems and lines marked.
