One Liner: Good setting with a family drama

Molly Adams is shocked to learn she is a beneficiary in someone’s will. After all, she doesn’t know any Greek men, and why would he leave her an apartment in Kassiopi, Corfu? Molly arrives in the region to find out she co-inherited the apartment, as well as a tree, a boat, a truck, and a quarter of a cat.

Christos Baros made his future with hard work and determination. He has successful gyms in Athens and wants nothing to do with his new inheritance. However, he and Molly must work together to decide the next steps. But for that, they have to figure out the past and the secrets that complicate everything.

Thrown in loving but annoying family members into the mix, and it is chaos all around!
The story comes in Molly and Christos’s third-person POVs.

My Thoughts:

The main attraction for me was the inheritance of 25% of a cat. Like, how do you decide which quarter of the cat is yours? Does she get a leg and an ear, or does she feed the cat once every alternate day? Unfortunately, the cat doesn’t appear until the halfway point.

The dual POV helped get both sides of the story. The main characters have issues to deal with, so each getting their POV brings some balance to the plot.

What we don’t get in the blurb is the presence of a tiny but overbearing family on both sides. Though it’s just a mother and friend for the FMC and a mother and a younger sister for the MMC, they stand out more than the main leads!

Not sure if the MMC’s mom was supposed to be the typical Greek mother, but she reminded me of OTT and stereotyped Indian moms – loving but super suffocating and hyper. Reading scenes with her gave me quite a bit of stress, though I think they were supposed to be funny.

The pacing was pretty fast, so enough, although the story didn’t progress much, the % moved ahead steadily. This helped since people seem to go around in circles about the past.

Still, I empathized with the main character’s concerns and vulnerabilities. Their fears were valid. I also liked the career choices.

That said, the romance part didn’t hit the mark. There was some attraction, but I didn’t vibe with it. I can’t say I could feel their chemistry to root for them. Add all those secrets and drama to the mix, there wasn’t enough focus on the couple’s connection or the supposed something they felt for each other.

However, the setting was great. Reading about sweaty and hot summers in Corfu when living in a tropical country didn’t help, lol. I was sweating already. Still, I enjoyed the description of the views, the sea, and the buildings. It has an old-world charm and sounds attractive.

To summarize, A Greek Island Gift has its moments and deals with some important themes about family, relationships, secrets, etc. Read it as a family drama instead of a romance. You may like it better.

Thank you, Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood Books, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really hate giving low ratings for books. Especially for books that I have been given the opportunity to review before they are published. However, I felt like I needed to because this book just wasn’t for me. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the two main characters. I appreciated that the author was trying to create banter between both families, but it fell flat most of the time. I am glad that I was given the chance to try one of this author’s books, but I don’t think I will again unfortunately.

It doesn't matter who you've come from. It only matters where you decide to go to, how you shape yourself and your future."

Molly Adams is a pharmacist with dreams of one day launching her own make-up brand, Mollify. However, that will need to be put on hold because a letter that she received is requesting her in Corfu, Greece, to claim her inheritance. She's never met Vaggelis Vlachos, but she knows she must go there because this inheritance may help her with her make-up launch. Her mother, Janette, and her best friend Siohban will also be joining her. Once there, Molly will find out why a man she has never met or heard of left her half a boat left (The Greek Dynamo), half a cherry red pick up truck ( that barely works), half an olive tree near Perithia, half an apartment to share with his god-son Christo and 25% of a 15 year-old mean, grumpy cat named Armeena.

Here, she will meet Christo, his mother Angeliki, his sister Magdalena, and the deep secret that his mother and Molly's mother are keeping from them that may prevent them from falling in love.

A Greek Island Gift is such a beautiful story about survival, resilience, change, chances, and finding out you always had what you needed the most right in front of you.

Thank you, Netgalley and Boldwood Books, for this magical gift!

This novel is a sweet romance with a lovely setting and great characters. However, I felt the story moved too slowly. The reveal of Molly’s father took too long, and it felt dragged out. While I enjoyed the book, it was a slow read and didn’t pull me in as much as I expected.

Molly's life is turned upside down when she receives an inheritance from a Greek who she has never heard of. After she travels to Corfu, with her mother and best friend, she finds an intriguing mystery at the centre of this news and meets a family who she comes to care deeply about. Corfu itself dominates the story with its sparkling seas and beautiful environment. It is definitely a read for the summer.

Molly finds herself drawn towards Christos who has left the island to establish his businesses. She too has ambitions to set up a business and a huge determination not to be knocked off course. Both Christos and Molly share a childhood with absent fathers and both were largely raised by their mothers. Molly's relationship with her mother is at times strained as she longs to know just who is her father. Secrets from the past cause some huge changes to family dynamics for all of the characters.

In short: family secrets

Mandy Baggot once again whisks readers to the golden splendor of Greece in her new book, 'A Greek Island Gift'. This richly warm tale brings a happy mix of humor, romance, and an edge of mystery, against the beautiful setting of Corfu.

The setup is intriguing right away: Molly Adams, a pharmacist who is attempting to start her own cosmetics company, inherits half an apartment and other odd things such as half a boat and a quarter of a cat on the Greek island from a man she has never met. She shares this inheritance with Christos Baros, a self-made gym owner in Athens who has his own stake in the deceased.

The writer is at her best in developing affable and likable characters. Molly comes across as endearing immediately, with her earthy personality and desire to unearth the mysteries surrounding her life. Christos, who seems standoffish at first, slowly begins to show a more affable side as he deals with the unforeseen common inheritance. Their early confrontations, stemming from the differences in their personalities and way of life, lead to a slow-burning romance that is natural as well as captivating.

The island of Corfu really comes to life in the pages of Mandy Baggot. Her descriptions of the island's scenery, the mouth-watering smells of Greek food, and the relaxing ambiance make it seem like it's a character in its own right. Readers will be pining for a break to the olive groves and turquoise seas.

Aside from the main romance, the narrative touches on family secrets and the nuance of relationships. Molly's journey of self-discovery trying to determine why she feels such a connection with her enigmatic benefactor gives an interesting dimension to the tale, and one remains uncertain. The interactions among Molly, her closest friend Siobhan, and Christos's mother contain some laughs along with actual heartfelt moments.

Although the plot is straightforward, it's the author's clever storytelling and the lovable characters that make 'A Greek Island Gift' such an enjoyable read. The author's own touch of humor comes through, bringing lightness and charm to the story. The pacing is mostly well-balanced, with the romance and the mystery unfolding at a good pace.

For readers who love escapist fiction with vivid settings, realistic characters, and a sweet love story, 'A Greek Island Gift' is ideal. It's a joyful ride to the Greek islands that will leave your face smiling and maybe even give you a taste for some feta and olives. This book is a testament to Mandy Baggot's ability to craft enjoyable and feel-good stories that transport readers to beautiful locales and leave them rooting for the characters' happiness.

My Thoughts :
As soon as I see Mandy Baggot has a new book out, its added to my list straight away and this one did not disappoint.
We meet Molly Adams. Molly is trying to launch her very own make-up brand called Mollify with the help of her best friend Siohban.
When Molly receives a letter, informing her that she has been left something in a Will on the Island of Corfu to a man named Vaggelis Vlachos, who she has never met, let alone heard of. Molly seeks out
answers, soon she is jetting off to Corfu, with her mum Janette and friend Siohban in tow.
Soon Molly learns that not only she has inherited 50% of an apartment, 50% of a boat, 50% of an olive tree and 25% of a cat named Armeena. She is told she owns this along with a guy named Christos Baros.
Christos used to live on the Island but now lives in Athens where he owns a few Gymnasiums.
He is back to visit his family after his Godfather Vaggelis passed away and soon learns he too has inherited the other half of Vaggelis’s belongings.
As Molly and Christos get to know each other in one way or another there is an undenying spark between the two and as much as they try to resist, can the Greek Island work its charm?!.
I loved learning about the past of Molly and Christos and what brought them both to where they are today. We also learn of some secrets and lies from both sides including Molly’s mum knowing more than she has let on.
Soon the reader will get lost lost in the whole story of love, friendship, loss and starting over.
Mandy Baggot delivers us pure escapism, I just know every time she releases a book, I am going to be lost in the world of Greek Islands.
She takes us on a journey and transports us through the tastes and smells of the country with added descriptions of the scenery, we all know too well.
Mandy Baggot is one of my top go to Authors, hope there is more stories very soon.

A Greek Island Gift is a delightful story with a unique premise. While not typically my genre or age group, it offered an intriguing glimpse into the world of influencers and modern expressions—an unexpected bonus.

At its heart, the novel weaves together an inheritance shrouded in mystery, family secrets, and, of course, a charming Greek love interest. The two main characters find themselves in the rather surreal position of inheriting an eclectic mix of assets—including a quarter of a cat, half a tree, a potentially unreliable truck, a boat of questionable seaworthiness, and an apartment in need of serious repairs. Molly has her own theories about why she was left this curious collection, and her mother’s reactions only add to the intrigue.

Christos and his family steal the show with their wonderful, often hilarious, dynamics. Their interactions bring a warmth and vibrancy that make them instantly memorable. The writing beautifully transports readers to Greece, immersing them in sun-drenched landscapes, delectable food, and the laid-back charm of island life. The vivid descriptions practically make you feel the sun on your skin—an ideal antidote to a gloomy, rainy day at home.

I also appreciated the thoughtful inclusion of Greek words sprinkled throughout, adding authenticity and cultural richness to the narrative. However, while the story had plenty of charm, it did feel a little stretched at times, with some sections lingering longer than necessary. Additionally, the ending, while heartwarming, was quite predictable—offering few surprises for those familiar with the genre.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey this book took me on, despite its pacing issues. _A Greek Island Gift_ is the perfect feel-good escape—brimming with laughter, romance, and Mediterranean magic.

Mandy Baggot returns with a glorious romantic escape readers will swoon over: A Greek Island Gift.

Molly can hardly believe her ears. How could she possibly have inherited an apartment in Corfu when she doesn’t know anybody in Greece? There must surely be some mistake, however, when she packs her bags and leaves for Corfu, she realises that she has in fact inherited property. Only she’s joint owner of an apartment – and also of a boat, an olive tree and a cat! Molly seems to be lurching from one shock to another. But just when she thinks that she cannot handle any more surprises, she meets the other co-owner, Christos Baros, and sparks quickly begin to fly.

Back home for the summer, Christos is a self-made businessman who is certainly in no need of half the things he has jointly inherited with Molly. Yet, knowing how important these things are to his mother, Christos has no choice but to go along with whatever fate wants to throw his way. Meeting Molly has him feeling things he has no business feeling and as his world and hers collide, Christos wonders whether he’s come home in more ways than one…

Fate has brought Christos and Molly together, but will their Greek island gift be enough to bind them together forever? Or are there simply too many obstacles in their way?

A sun-soaked summer romance that is the next best thing to a holiday, A Greek Island Gift is vintage Mandy Baggot. Funny, whimsical, emotional and so deliciously readable I gobbled it up in one sitting, A Greek Island Gift is a wonderful tale about learning to trust, taking a chance on happiness and falling in love that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Looking for your next vacation or beach read? You need to pick up A Greek Island Gift by Mandy Baggot and throw it in your bag! Molly Adams and Christos Baros have never met. They don't even live in the same country. But they have each recently inherited 50% of an apartment, a boat, a truck, an olive tree, and also 25% of a cat. Crazy, right? But true! They meet in Corfu, Greece, where the sunshine is plentiful, the temperatures are hot, and the views of the island and sea are stunning. Reading their story, I feel like I took a vacation to Greece - I loved all the Greek phrases that are interspersed throughout the book, the descriptions of the landscape, and the yummy Greek favorite dishes that are enjoyed. I really enjoyed how Molly and Christos approached their far-fetched, crazy (but fun) predicament. We get to hear from both Molly and Christos POV in alternating chapters. They disagree on what to do with their recent inheritance, but come together rationally to find a solution. There was no over-the-top drama, but there were some ups and downs, all while becoming friends. I expected their story to be purely romance, but instead I found this book to be more suited to women's fiction and I truly appreciated the growth journeys for all characters involved, as well as the empowering messages that are entwined in the story.

This is my first book by Mandy Baggot and I will be reading more of her work in the future. A Greek Island Gift would make a fun rom-com movie!

I'm always a big sucker for and big fan of Mandy Baggot's books especially any set in her beloved Corfu. And this was no exception.

There is an unexpected inheritance, family secrets, a fabulous Greek guy and there more we get to hear about the guy who left this inheritance, the more i loved him too.

It's unusual to learn that you have been left amongst other things a quarter of a cat (and seeing the beneficiaries try to decide who owns which leg is amusing), half an olive tree, half a truck that may not work, half a boat that may or may not work and half an apartment that needs a lot of work - but that is exactly the situation for Christos and Molly.

Molly has her own suspicions as to why she may have been left this, and her mother's responses are interesting. Christos and his family reminded me of the vibe and family from A Big Fat Greek Wedding, and I loved their dynamics.

There is a lot more to this than first meets the eye, and when you add in a recent family feud, what feels like a dare devil nature from Molly and you have an immensely enjoyable book.

I read this in a rare dose of sunshine in the garden and totally felt transported to Corfu. I loved the spattering for Greek words for flavour within the pages and generally just loved every word of this. Another winner from Mandy Baggot.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Mandy Baggot has written a great holiday novel. I have read a few novels by Mandy Baggot and I have yet to be disappointed. A Greek Island Gift was a beautiful story and Mandy has once again written some lovely characters. From the opening pages I was hooked. A quick and easy read.

As I have enjoyed Mandy Baggot's novels it the past, I was thrilled to be approved for an eARC of her newest novel, A Green Island Gift (publication date April 28, 2025). When Molly Adams finds out she’s inherited an apartment in Kassiopi, Corfu, she’s pretty sure there’s been some kind of mistake. She doesn’t know a soul in Greece, especially the man who has left her an inheritance, Vaggelis Vlachos. She travels to Corfu with her mom and best friend to find out what she has been gifted. She has inherited 50% of an apartment, 50% of a boat, 50% of an olive tree and 25% of a cat....! She meets handsome Christos Baros, who inherited the other 50% of the apartment, boat and olive tree. He has no interest in sharing his share and is suspicious of the beautiful Brit, Molly, who has never met Vaggelis. As they get to know each other better and sightsee the island, they can't help but fall for each other.

This novel was a sweet romance. I adored the beautiful setting and the cast of characters. The only fault I found was that it took an excessively long time to discover the true identity of Molly's father. The revelation was considerably delayed, and the entire situation felt overly drawn out.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

In this cozy and charming summer romance novel, readers meet Molly Adams when she has just inherited half an apartment in Kassiopi, Corfu, in addition to half a boat, half an olive tree, and a quarter of a cat -- and she has never met Christos Baros, the co-owner of all of these objects. Christos, a entrepreneur and gym owner in Athens, doesn’t need any of this but knows that these objects were important to his mother. As Molly and Christos are forced together in this ridiculous situation on the beautiful island of Corfu, they must work together to discover why they have this shared inheritance and if this is what they both need (even though they didn’t know it). The perfect escapist summer romance novel, readers will love the detailed setting and the backdrop it provides for Molly and Christos’s developing relationship. The characters are charming and occasionally tropey, and their dynamic is, of course, the center of the narrative. Readers will particularly enjoy the platonic elements of Molly and Christos’s relationship as they explore the history behind their shared inheritance, and both characters develop a lot over the course of this fun, summery, and charming new Greek romance novel.

A fun read with laughter all the way through
As everyone involved has to decide just what to do.
There are secrets to uncover
And so much more to discover!

Imagine her surprise when Molly receives a letter
Stating she's inherited from someone she's convinced never met her!
The person lived in Greece and she's not been there before
She doesn't know anyone there, of that she is sure.

However when she tell her mother she gets a huge surprise
It seems she's been there before but she didn't realise.
The person is someone she met when a young child
And photos of them together shock her - that's putting it mild!

The fun starts when she travels to discover her bequest
With her Mum and friend alongside her, hoping for the best.
Get ready for more surprises with a shared inheritance
And maybe even romance, if only she'll give them a chance.

If you're looking for a warm, fun read
This is hopefully just what you need!
A great story which brings relationships to life
Dealing with attraction, romance and strife!

For my copy of this lovely book I say a huge thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Secrets. You never know is it a good idea to have and keep secrets? After sometime,
even years, they can become unearthed. This book is full of secrets, sunshine, romance
and a Greek Island.

The setting of this book is beautiful. The description of the island is really brought to the
readers imagination. The most amazing scene for me was when the storm broke. I
could hear the thunder and see the lightning as it raged. The danger of the sea and then
a stomach clenching moment as I read about Molly Adams trying to get the cat
Armeena, out from a hole in a rock. The description of the sea crashing on the rocks
and how slippery and dangerous it is was incredible.

There is a lot of comedy aspects as well as sad and happy in this absolutely amazing
book. There are twists as well to keep you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t put it
down once I started reading the book. A must read for all those who love a little
romance, sunshine and families.

Thank you, Mandy Baggot, for such a wonderful read.

When Londoner Molly is informed that she inherited part of an appartement in Greece she is sure that this must be a mistake, since she doesn't know anybody from Greece and has never even heard the name of the man who passed. Still she goes to Corfu with her mother and her best friend to find out if this inheritance is legit. Once there she meets Christos who is inheriting along with her and his family. Over the course of a week old memories are talked about, secrets are reveiled and Molly and Christos develop feelings for one another...
I enjoyed reading this book, it was an entertaining romantic comedy set on a Greek Island. However I could not always relate to the main characters and I thought the secret surrounding Molly's father dragged on too long.
Still an entertaining summer read, perfect for a beach vacation.

I found this book quite boring. I didn’t find it grasped my attention and found that I was forcing myself to finish it. Alas, I did get there in the end.

I didn’t find the story that different and the twists were predictable. The chemistry between the Molly and Christos didn’t excite me at all. I thought a lot of supporting characters were pointless too (like Siobhan). I wouldn’t be very happy if I’d come away with my best friend only for her to be nowhere to be seen most days without so much of a word.

I personally don’t always love pop culture or trends in books either. The younger characters were very “woke” which I understand is more typical of the times we currently live in, but for me it really distracts from the story and the “fairytale” feeling of a romance novel.

I think if you want a straightforward, easy read then you may enjoy it for that purpose, but it wasn’t really enough for me.

A cute little story set on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. This novel follows Molly, who finds she has inherited an apartment in Corfu. She is convinced it’s a mistake, after all, she’s never been to Greece, but once she arrived she’s in for a shock. It’s not a full apartment, it’s a 50% share with the gorgeous Christos Baros plus half a truck, half a boat and quarter of a cat. Christos has no need for these items as he’s a successful businessman online Athens, but when his world collides with Molly, Will their shared fortune turn into a shared future? I found this book to be somewhat of a slow burner and whilst enjoyable, it lacked the pace of the authors previous books and didn’t draw me in as much as I expected. I would rate this 3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and the author for the chance to review.

A Greek Island Gift by Mandy Baggot
Publication date April 28, 2025

When Molly learns that she has an inheritance in Corfu, Greece, she is confused as she knows no one who has ever lived in Greece. This is her story of traveling to Corfu, facing her future, learning about the past, and meeting Christos, with whom she will have to share her inheritance!

This is definitely a rom-com worth reading - the absolutely gorgeous setting of Corfu, meddling British and Greek women, the model-like Christos, plenty of sincere moments, and so many secrets revealed as a result of Molly and Christos' shared inheritance. It's definitely a slow-burn romance filled with humor and flat-out laughs.

Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When I read the synopsis for the book, I thought it would be right up my street.

'When Molly Adams finds out she’s inherited an apartment in Kassiopi, Corfu, she’s left thinking there must be some mistake. She doesn’t know anyone in Greece at all. But when she arrives, there’s a shock. Molly hasn’t inherited a whole apartment, it’s only 50%. But there’s more - she’s also inherited 50% of a boat, 50% of an olive tree and… 25% of a cat.

I was hoping the book would be funny, charming and set in a stunning location, Corfu. It was all those things, there are some very funny and colourful characters. However, I just didn't really feel the chemistry between the leads; it all felt a little flat. The book is also very drawn out, and I feel the conclusion could have come a lot sooner when identifying Molly's father.

For those who love all things Greek, this is definitely a book to add to your to-be-read list. It has a My Greek Wedding vibe, which I love,

When Molly Adams, a pharmacist with dreams of launching her own make up line, receives a letter telling her she has been left an inheritance (half an apartment, half a boat, half an Olive tree and a quarter of a Cat) by a person she has never met she knows the she needs to travel to Kassiopi in Corfu to find out more about her mystery Greek benefactor.
It is there that she meets another benefactor of the will ,a gym owner named Christos. There is an instant attraction and in getting to know more about Christos, Molly finds herself questioning more of the things that her mother had told her about her parentage and her childhood and she longs to find out the truth about her father.
Mandy’s love for Corfu shines through in her writing and she has created a wonderful story of love, loss friendship and a quest for the truth.
Thank you once again to Mandy Baggott, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this bright and breezy summer story.

Thank you, @rararesources, for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. A Greek Island gift is romance genre and is a gorgeous read. I absolutely adored this story. It is heartwarming and fun read that was a pleasure to read. It is easy to get into, and I read in a day. I loved all the characters. They were wonderful, and I felt like they were old friends. The story is set in Corfu and is about Molly who finds she inherited an apartment but thinks it’s a mistake and goes to Greece for the reading of the will that comes with some surprises. This book made me want to go to Corfu again. This would make a great holiday read. The front cover and title are great and work well with the story. Fantastic and engaging read 5 stars.

When Molly receives a message about a possible inheritance from a man she'd never met in Kassiopi, in Corfu, she heads with her mom and best friend. It turns out she's set to inherit half an apartment, half a tree, a boat, and a quarter of a cat with Christos Barros's who is the man's godfather. He was also a past love of her mom's.

I enjoyed the descriptions of life on a small island Greece, along with this mysterious Greek man, Vaggelis Vlachos. The central mystery to too long to wrap, but otherwise I enjoyed the twists, turns, and the bit of romance as it moves to its satisfying conclusion. This is an enjoyable light, beach read for those that enjoy books set in Greece.

Thanks to @boldwoodbooks, @netgalley, and the author for this arc.

Last time I was on blogtour featuring novels set in a Greek Island it was Crete. After the third blog tour I felt it was a sign of the universe and went to Heraklion and fell in love with Crete and the history of the island.
Now it's Corfu, another island that seems to be everywhere and it's full of history.
This is not a book about history, it's a lovely story that made me smile and having fun with the cultural and character clash of the two main characters.
It's the right book if you want to feel good, travel to a wonderful place, and feel the Greek sun.
Liked it, recommended.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for this digital copy, all opinions are mine
