Today, hundreds of books are devoted to the critique of capitalism, but they don't do much in terms of practical engagement. This signals a need to rethink our very basic theoretical coordinates: capitalism versus WHAT? With the elaboration of the concept of timenergy, Downs puts capitalism into a new conceptual space, enabling us to approach it in theory and in practice in new ways.
This book contains such an fantastic overview of so much philosophy that not only is it an amazing intro and critique of the work of Nick Land it's also a pretty great summary of some complex thinkers (Kant, Hegel, Lacan, D&G, Baudrillard, Zizek, just to name a few). It's also (fortunately) not written in a dense, dry, academic style, but a largely conversational tone...at times it reads like you're sitting across the table from Michael at his favorite coffee shop while he breaks concepts apart for you.
Highly recommended for anyone wondering where to begin with Land or even looking to start a study into the more difficult philosophers of all time.
