Kai Hebiguchi has spent his life resisting the primal hunger of the Ugajin Kami, the snake spirit coiled within his soul. Born in Japan but hardened on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, he learned young that survival meant embracing the darkness inside him. Now, at thirty, under the alias Kai Nakamura, he reigns over a ruthless underground fighting ring where the city’s elite pay to witness men unleash their inner beasts. His power is absolute. His secrets, untouchable.

Until Nova Sinclair threatens to expose them all.

There’s something about him—something otherworldly—that calls to her, even as every instinct warns her to run.

In Rio’s underground, news travels fast. Word of Kai’s increasingly reckless displays of the supernatural reaches all the way to Japan, where the Hebiguchi Clan refuses to let his transgressions go unchecked. His cousin, Saburo, is sent to Rio to remind him of the rules…by any means necessary.

It's one of the BEST paranormal books I've ever read!!

Ever since I've read Tizahmi's book "Saburo" about his connection to the mythical creature called the Ugajin Kami, I've been very curious, intrigued and somewhat anxious to know more about it and how far back does the binding of Ugajin Kami to the Hebiguchi clan go. I was hoping that another book would continue with Saburo and Niya's story. When I found out that there was another Ugajin Kami, I knew I had to have it. If you've read Saburo, then you would remember that Saburo is supposed to be the only one in the Hebiguchi clan with the Ugajin Kami. The fact that there's a second one and in the same family is mind-blowing. Considering there's only supposed to be one in every generation. I don't want to give away any spoilers or make this review overly long. But Kai is not your typical paranormal romance. It's so much more.

Kai and Saburo are cousins, and they both have the Ugajin Kami attached to their souls. But to me, they are polar opposites. Saburo is calm like water, where Kai is hot like a volcano. Kai lives his life how he sees fit, not caring what anyone, including his clan, thinks. But his world is infiltrated by a journalist, Nova. But unbeknownst to Kai, or maybe not, Nova would play a life changing role in his life, his connection to the Ugajin Kami and the foretold prophecy.

When I tell you, this book had me in a chokehold!!! I was drinking coffee to stay awake to finish it. The connection, the power, the rawness that tied Nova to Kai, and vice versa were soooo deep that it left me speechless and shook at times. This author put her everything into this book!! All I can say is this is not your ordinary snake shifter romance. This book takes you on a journey where two people will find out their lives were always meant to be interconnected by a force greater than their own. Their discovery of who they were always meant to be to each other.

Be prepared for some very entertaining dialog and a LOT of the hottest dang smexy scenes you have ever read!! And don't forget to get the bonus scene after you finish the book! Overall, in my opinion, this book was and is a definite must-read.

Kai: Venom and Desire is a dark, thrilling, and addictive read that blends mythology, danger, and romance in such a gripping way. The story pulls you into Kai’s world a man caught between the beast within and the life he’s built in the brutal underground of Rio de Janeiro. The Japanese folklore woven into the supernatural elements feels unique and refreshing, giving the book a depth that goes beyond a typical paranormal romance. Kai is a powerful, brooding character, but what really hooked me was the push and pull between him and Nova. Their connection is fierce, complicated, and filled with tension that makes every encounter electric. Nova is strong, determined, and fearless, and her role as a journalist chasing supernatural secrets adds another layer of danger and intrigue to the plot. The action scenes are intense, the world-building vivid, and the stakes couldn’t be higher with clans, syndicates, and supernatural forces all colliding in a story that keeps you turning the pages. It’s dark, emotional, and passionate in all the right ways. If you enjoy paranormal romance with grit, mythology, and a dangerous edge, Kai: Venom and Desire is absolutely worth diving into.
