Not for me, I found the main characters to be obnoxious and unlikable and honestly found the writing style a bit juvenile, it felt more like a younger YA contemporary than adult to me.

The perfect holiday romance to snuggle up with a warm cup of coco!

Diego and Alara are blazing with chemistry, there's nothing more that screams hot than having a crush for your best friends brother ;)

I had so much fun reading this, as someone who enjoys sports romances and holiday romances this couldn't have been anymore up my ally!

Alara is so real because I would've been crushing so hard on Diego too. She is such a fun FMC, and tbh I would take a ski boarding class from her and that says a lot because I hate sports.

I also have to shout out my boy Diego, MI GENTE MEXICANAAAAAA. Diego is respectful, charming, and hardworking. I love myself a man who is not only passionate about his personal interests but loves his family as well. Literally my type in a man fr.

Thank you to Kanitha P for the E-arc! I've been a fan since book 1 and I continue to love your work and cannot wait for everyone else to join in on the fun!

Thank you to Headline and NetGalley for the e-arc of All You Need Is Gloves. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Who better to sneak around with your arrogantly hot, off limits best friend’s brother? If it’s one thing Kanitha is going to nail, it’s the best friend’s brother trope!!

Ahh this was so much fun, and the perfect read for this upcoming cosy season, too!

Diego finds himself at a crossroads, when he returns to his hometown, after getting injured and is forced to clean up his act. Alara, who has always had a crush on Diego finds her old feelings resurfacing, when he is forced into helping her out at her family’s ski resort shop.

The chemistry and banter between these two were electric and so much fun! I loved Alara, too, and how much of a good friend she was, her unwavering support and care that she showed to Diego, even when he was an arrogant arse at times. I had my grips with Diego’s character. I did think he came across as immature and very arrogant, however his character development over the course of the book and with his time spent with Alara and his family really mellowed him out, he became more grounded within himself, and realised what was important to him.

All in all, I thought this was the perfect cozy winter read, and I’m so proud of my girl, Kanitha on her trad debut!! 🏂❄️🩵

If you’re looking for a spicy, festive romance then this is one for you.

‘All I see is him, all I smell is him’

‘She’s worthy of a burning red kind of love, a sky full of bright stars, a large field of vibrant flowers’

Returning to Blue Ridge Springs was the last thing that Diego wanted. Unable to snowboard but forced to go through extensive physio, rest and work as a ski instructor, he is miserable and counting down the days until he can get back on his board.

Tormented by the attraction he feels for his best friends sister, Diego finds it hard to keep up a grumpy facade around her. Alara melts away a lot of Diego’s frustrations and the more time they spend together working in the Rock Snow shop and as Ski instructors, Diego finds it impossible to not remember how much he loves being back in his home town.

I really enjoyed the way that Diego’s struggle is captured throughout, quite often sports romances focus on an athlete who is activity part of their sport but this showed a very different side which I really enjoyed.

In addition to his injury story, Diego and his family are also grieving the loss of his father, it helped to build character for Diego underneath that hard exterior and strengthened the family theme throughout.

I really enjoyed how the story came together, there are a number of tropes that I thoroughly enjoyed.l that I will list below.

* Grumpy x Sunshine
* Brother / Sisters best friend
* Secret romance

I sat and read this book in one sitting. I think this might actually make it to my top reads this year but it was truly so enjoyable from start to finish. The Diego and Alana we meet in the beginning of this book are not who we finish the book with. They are complex characters that show up truly who they are and how they’re navigating through life together.

This was a brother’s best friend romance which I will eat up any single time it’s out in front of me but this one just had that extra dash of more with sisters best friend, her crushing on him in highschool, throwing them together in a bit of a forced proximity situation. And every single second of it I was yearning for more and more of them.

It was the perfect balance of characters and plot to spice, the romance was so powerful and sweet I love watching it heal these two characters. The setting was ideal if and made me wish for it to be winter sipping hot cocoa and watching the snow fall. This author wrote so beautifully I felt as if I knew who these characters were to their core. I miss them and this story already.

oh my sweet loves!!!!!!!

i may be wholly biased but alara and diego’s story was so incredibly sweet and i loved every second of it!!

kay has a way of making you feel seen when writing her characters and this one was no exception. alara and diego both struggled with their own issues and i think the fact that both of what they went through are very common yet very relatable things, made this book so special to me!

if you’re looking for a sweet holiday-ish romance with a dash of fwb, a whole lot of flirty banter, best friends sibling x2, and a healthy dose of mental health representation i highly recommend this one

This book makes me want to scream in the best ways. It was so freaking cute and I love it just like I have with all her other books. The fact that it was brothers best friend and best friends brother was a lot of fun. These two just completed each other. No one understands Diego like Alara and vice versa. She gets him to slow down and be himself. He gets her to know that it's okay to not know what you want and take time to figure it out. They are just perfect.

I received an arc through netgalley.

The plot was so thin, the side characters were underdeveloped and the pacing wad kinda uneven. Some chapters were sooo long. The ending was so sudden and kind of didn't make any sense. The book has charm but very forgettable. Makes me so sad because this was my most anticipated winter book of the year.

Diego quotes:
"...her beauty is incomparable, and it outshines everything surrounding us."
"Why would I look elsewhere when you're in the room?"

First things first: this is a 4.5 stars for me, and I LOVED IT.

Alara and Diego have taken a piece of my heart for themselves.
As someone who has been skiing since she was 5, who has competed herself, and who had to stop compiting once she got her knee hurt... I understood Diego more than I want to admit. My poor baby. But I also loved Alara with my whole heart, the way she's always supportive of everyone she loves, the way she's so freaking cheerful that could light up every room, even with her own fears and doubts it's just... amazing.
I also want to see more of Jordan and Gaby, because I fell in love with them both, and explore more of the resort and all the options it offers aside from skiing and snowboarding.
I had already had the pleasure of reading other of Kanitha's books (the Full Throttle series) and I knew that I really liked her writing and the characters that she creates, but AYNIG has become for sure one of my favourites of her. Can't wait to keep on reading everything she writes <3

Thank you netgalley and headline for the earc :)

ARC Review
3.25 stars

I had high hopes for this one but it didn't quite hit the mark. I enjoyed that it was about different sport that you don't often have in romance books as the MMC is a professional snowboarder and the FMC is also really good at skiing on snowboarding. The tropes were executed well and I liked the slow-burn and how Elara and Diego became friends first and were really supportive of each other.

My main reason for not being more invested in the story was the almost overload of internal dialogue. Often it felt repetitive and it would interrupt conversations/dialogue, and we would only return back to the conversation 2 pages later. I also wish the book had focused a bit more on Diego's mental recovery. It gets mentioned a lot but it doesn't feel like it was really addressed.

Overall, still a cute story and if you enjoy books that are really character driven with a lot of internal dialogue and a dash of spice, then Diego and Elara's story might be for you!

"...he regards me with a certain softness, a little bit lazy, a little drunk on me. He looks perfect like this, flushed cheeks, swollen lips, bright eyes. He looks like mine. 'I'm obsessed with you,' he rasps."

🏂☕⛷️

This was surprisingly a good book. I've only ever read one book from Kanitha P. beforehand, so I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. What intrigued me the most to pick-up this book before my true holiday romance season ensues in December is the fact that it is about a professional snowboarder mmc, and a ski instructor. Never read anything like that; and it's also a fantasy of mine to one day go to the Swiss alps and do some swirls up and down the snowy mountains.

Anyway, I had a good time with this book. I don't think it was very Christmas-sy, like I can read this anytime of the year considering I don't experience the four seasons here in the Philippines Though I love the depiction of winter in this book - it was quite atmospheric.

What genuinely hooked me in this book is the banter between Diego and Alara. Wow. Miss Kanitha can write some stellar banter *all the claps!* Like, the thinly veiled flirting in the way she wrote the countless exchanges between her two main characters was so good in building the tension and the chemistry. I also liked the pacing of this book. Just the right medium burn that I like with my friends with benefits stories where the physicality comes first before the progression of the emotional connection. It felt natural.

The core of my appreciation for this book is the part in Diego and Alara's story where they were able to fully be vulnerable with each other enough to show all their individual hurt, confusion, and struggles. That was the point in their story where they came to the conclusion that they want to give each other the kind of care and attention that the other doesn't have. It was very sweet and heartwarming to see them heal each other in the way nobody has before.

Plus, Diego really switched it up from being a real grump at the start of the book to one of the most boy-obsessed mmcs I've read. This man malfunctions because of Alara's beauty countless of times. His 'stupid lizard brain' just stutters to a stop because Alara's just so pretty. That's the energy I want!

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁:

This is the perfect winter read especially as we head into the Winter Olympics. I love reading sports romance and it was so fun to see a story about a pro snowboarder. I loved the dynamics of the characters and how interconnected their lives were through their siblings and the community. I always love a good redemption arc and this doesn’t disappoint. Definitely grab a hot cocoa and warm blanket and snuggle up with to read this one.

𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬:

Diego just got the worst punishment his coach could give him, he’s been banished to his hometown of Blue Ridge Springs, CO and isn’t allowed to touch a snowboard for the next few months. He was injured performing a trick he shouldn’t of tried and is now paying the price. While he’s home he has to work at the local sport store and help give ski plans for beginners. A true punishment to be so close to snow and not allowed to experience it.

Alara is home after graduating college and is trying to figure out what’s next. So when her crush walks into her parent’s store she’s a little thrown. Turns out he’s going to be working with her while she’s in town. But Diego is only here for a short amount of time and she doesn’t want to loose her heart to him.

Forced proximity turns up the heat quickly as this duo realize their chemistry is off the charts and it’s definitely going to melt the snow this season.

"Because, Alara, when I look at you, I don't understand how someone could ever stand in front of you and not see what I see. And do you know what I see? I see an entire universe, an entire galaxy within you. I see so much strength and beauty and courage, and I feel so lucky to be the one who's managed to look deep enough to see all of that."

I really liked this cute winter romance! While I'm not a fan of friends siblings's/ sibling's friends, this book had both and I still really enjoyed it (because Diego and Alara's families are just chill and loving).

Poor Diego is going threw the ringer of an injury when hes just a snowboarder that wants to board. But hes back to his childhood hometown and working for a ski resort (and working with his sisters best friend, who ded had a rush on him when they were young). They form a friendship, and Diego is able to depend on someone for help and support in a way he never has, and Alara's loving heart is helping heal Diego (both emotionally and physically).

"My recovery has been challenging, physically speaking, but rebuilding myself mentally hasnt been easy either. Days were definitely shit at the beginning, but I haven't felt this good in a while. I know its because youre always here to hold my hand."

OMG that Third Act Break Up may have broken a little bit of my heart. I wanted to kick Diego so hard in the knee it wasn't even funny --- Last Christmas I gave you my heart, and the very next day, you gave it away (is this a christmas book? No its winter themed. HOWEVER after the Third Act Break Up, Kanitha had me humming this song.)

All You Need is Gloves was such a good time. Everything I love about Kanitha’s writing is right here: the humour, the heart, the banter, and the kind of chemistry that makes you want to grab popcorn and watch it all unfold. She really didn't lose anything - in fact she probably GAINED - in this transition from Indie to Trad author!

Diego and Alara just work. His chaotic energy and her calm, grounded vibe balance each other perfectly, and their back and forth throughout the book was just perfect.

Alara’s crush on Diego started years ago, and honestly, the second he came back into town it was game over for her (and for me). I loved how their history gave the story that extra layer of warmth and longing. Diego might swagger around like the confident snowboarder everyone remembers, but the way he slowly softens for her had me kicking my feet. Alara’s mix of strength, charm, and quiet determination made her the perfect match for him, and their chemistry just jumped off the page.

The winter setting gave the story the perfect cozy backdrop with snow, spice, and plenty of tension. I had a big grin on my face the whole time I was reading. Honestly, if you love witty banter and need to read cozy winter vibes with a side of spice, this one’s an easy win.

Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to read this book early via NetGalley!

I’d been intrigued by this one since I saw an advert for it on Instagram a little while ago and thought it sounded up my street. It’s set in the lead up to Christmas and whilst not particularly festive it definitely has strong winter vibes!

Professional snowboarder Diego is back in his home town after attempting a stunt that left him injured and unable to snowboard whilst he recovers. He is less than pleased to be back and really struggling with not being able to do what he loves most. His sister’s best friend Alara had a huge crush on him in high school and the two develop a close friendship whilst he works at her family’s store and helps her with skiing lessons for kids.

I really liked both Diego and Alara as characters. Their friendship was heartwarming and I enjoyed seeing that develop and change as feelings got involved. They both just got each other, and I loved all the little things they did for each other, and how they became each other’s happy and safe spaces.
There were a few times where I felt the story dragged a little or the writing became a bit repetitive, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story, just meant it took me a little longer to read. Overall a really nice winter read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

I have loved Kanitha P.’s work since her Full Throttle series and I cannot express how excited I was to read this. She did not disappoint me again! Alara is so relatable in the way that she’s out of college and unsure of how to continue in her career and where she would like to go. Diego found a way to monetize his passion into a career, but he’s unfortunately hit a speed bump and needs to figure out where he’s going with it.

As they navigate their personal turmoils, they learn to love each other, even though they try their hardest not to. They help each other see the world through different perspectives. They each learn how to take care of each other and, simultaneously, learn what it’s like to be taken care of. I ALSO loved that though this is a best friend’s brother/brother’s best friend romance, neither the best friend nor the brother had any qualms with the two dating each other. In fact, they supported it and encouraged it by the end.

It was so heartwarming to see them have so much support in a town that Diego didn’t even want to be back in at the start of the book, but they quickly turn it into home for him.

I can’t wait to see who Book 2 is about. Jordan??? Fingers are crossed!

4.5 stars, arc review. Following Alara and Diego’s story was like a cozy warm hug perfect atmosphere for the colder months, add in Kanitha’s amazing writing skills and I was hooked from the first chapter. I really enjoyed the snowboarding and skiing aspect as someone who loves watching the Winter Olympics I could easily picture some of the skills. My favourite part though was Diego’s journey in finding himself and letting people in, being able to recognise his support system as not just his family but also his friends and the people from his home town. I think Kanitha deals with grief well as you can really see how Diego’s father’s death impacted not only himself but his mom and sisters. Back to the romance it was so good, the development these two characters had towards each other was timed perfectly and i loved that Alara stood her ground and resembled someone who wasn’t sure what she wanted to do yet knew that she had time and didn’t need to rush into a career she wasn’t sure about. Kanitha wrote some amazing side characters as well Diego’s sisters Val and Gaby were great and I’m hoping for a book with Gaby and Jordan because there was definitely something worth exploring there.

For a trad debut, this is one of the best winter romances I've consumed this year so far. Diego is an injured snowboarder, an eldest son, and his personality is covered in sharp edges. When he is sent back to his hometown to recover, he re-meets his sister's best friend, Alara. She's sharp and all kinds of sunshine despite her constant anxiety around not knowing what her next step in life is. After a few bumps in the road, they find some common ground and build a friendship with a side of flirty banter. Some lingering glances lead to a first kiss which turns into a friends-with-benefits situation.

This book is jam-packed with so much fun and laughter, a generous amount of steamy moments, but it never once overshadows the way Alara and Diego truly fall in love with each other, the way they see each other, and help each other through their individual hardships. If you love a friends/friends-with-benefits to lovers trope, this one is truly for you. I loved the way there is caretaking on both ends in such different ways. Seeing Diego open up about his grief and Alara open up about her insecurity reminds you just how different they are but still able to understand and empathize with each other.

This book was adorable and so much fun to read. It was fast paced and you never felt like you were just waiting for something to happen. The banter between the two main characters Diego and Alara was a lot of fun to read and you could tell there was a chemistry between them from the get go. It was nice to see these two bring out different sides to each other, parts they hid from those around them because they wanted to protect them, or not worry for them etc, but be open with each other and let the other support them. There was a friendship (however brief) first and I think that definitely helped. There's some spice in the book, but not too much, and what there is, is well written and makes sense in the contexts of the scenes, it wasn't gratuitous. Overall, I found that you definitely rooted for these two, for things to work out for them. There was a tiny bit of angst as there usually are in these kinds of books, but nothing too much, overall it was really lighthearted and feel good which is just what you need sometimes. Definitely worth a read for any rom com fan.

All of my favourite things in one cosy sexy book.

We have sports, Christmas, insanely hot chemistry, small town USA setting, grumpy sunshine, and a rather respectful man. Add in both of their families, and Diego recovering from injury and you have the mix of what this highly enjoyable book contains.

I was hooked from the start of this story and absolutely adored getting to know both Diego and Alara. It's clear that there is some sizzling chemistry between them, even though they both try to ignore it for various reasons.

This is the first book that I have read by Kanitha P, and it certainly won't be the last. I loved her sex scenes and her story telling, and just everything about the book. I adored Diego's family, and also the banter between him and Alara.

I just loved practically everything about this, and thoroughly enjoyed my time between the pages in Blue Ridge Springs.

Thank you to Headline Eternal and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

-Best Friends Brother

-“Bad Boy”MMC
-Friends with Benefits
-Holiday Romance

In this book you get to follow Alara and Diego! Diego has a mishap with his snowboard and now it recovering time. Not excited about his situation he’s now stuck with his little sister’s best friend. Alara has been tasked to be the person to kinda look after him. Let’s say I absolutely loved these two! Was I surprised this book had me hooked and I devoured it? No, not at all because Kanitha always comes ready with her books! Their witty banter was top tier. Also this may sound weird but I liked the lightness of this story! I would love to read more about Alara and Diego☺️

Thank you NetGalley and Headline Eternal for this arc.

This was a sweet wintery read. I've read a few books by Kanitha P. before but I think this is my favourite so far.

Diego started out such a grump that I thought he was going to annoy me however the way he acted to Alara was so sweet and he was so obsessed with her. Alara knew how to hold her own and not put up with that from him all while feeling like a lot of us do after university of feeling lost with what she wants to do with the rest of her life.

Both MCs families were lovely and supportive of both of them and I love when a cat gets to make an appearance so Tabby made me very happy.

Overall I think this would be a fun easy read to pick up over winter with sprinklings of Christmas cheer and plenty of snowy mountains and sports as well as two people looking out for each other and learning to accept that help.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Diego is a pro-snowboarder who has to return to his hometown recovering from an injury. He works as an assistant ski instructor to his best friend’s sister. Alara had a major crush on Diego but he never noticed her. Now, he’s definitely noticing!

He’s not staying in town forever, but Alara plans to! They know they can’t really be together, but want to spend time together while Diego is in town.

It took these two much longer than I’d liked to admit their true feelings. They were both pining but wouldn’t talk about it.

This definitely had all the winter vibes ❄️🎿🏂⛷️

A good wintery read, like yes all the winter vibes were amazing. I’m always a big winter fan, so the entire book I was just wishing I could go out in the snow (sadly I couldn’t :( ). I liked the story and the plot. A tortured mmc who gets back his happiness and the light in his eyes always works for me. I liked the romance and the banter too. Sometimes the book did feel a little slow to me, but I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the mood for a winter read.
Thank you Headline Eternal for the ARC!

✨3.5 stars✨

This book was a cute romance surrounding the best friend’s brother trope which I really enjoyed. I also liked that the MMC was a snowboarder as that makes a change from all the hockey romances out there. Gave me slight Disney’s Cloud 9 vibes if you like that.

My main issue was that the characters felt immature (it wasn’t until the character’s mentioned a 26th birthday that I realised they were meant to be older adults). Apart from that though this was a good read.

I received an ARC from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
