The Other Truth
W.I.T.C.H are discussing how to handle Nerissa. Irma thinks they should take the fight to her lair. Hay-Lin says she doesn’t think the Oracle will approve. Irma waste no time reminding them how the Oracle treated them and how he wiped their memories. Cornelia points out also what happened to Caleb. She can’t believe she forgot him. The others say it wasn’t her fault but she wonders what’s stronger love or magic. Now Caleb is recovering in Kandrakar (and serving as the herald) and the Oracle has sent them home. Hay-Lin says they can’t judge the Oracle’s decision and Irama says -says- who.

Taranee jumps up agrily and says the problem is Nerissa. She’s filling them with doubt. Will says she’s after the heart and she’s ready for her. As the leave, Cornelia reflects on how much Will’s changed. The Oracle observes the guardians and tells Tibor the Guardians only see one aspect of Will. He looks at the meditation crystal and tells him the Guardians saw defense and fury over the threat of Nerissa, but there’s another concern in her mind that they didn’t see. There’s also sadness. It could cause a ripple that might push her toward the lightness or the dark. Just like it did in Nerissa. Tibor asks what happens yet, but the Oracle says he doesn’t know.

He also hears that Cornelia is having doubts about her love for Caleb. Tibor and the Oracle head to the healing place where Caleb has been growing weaker. They talk about how Caleb got to be the way he is and why Nerissa wanted him. The Oracle takes Tibor to “The Cosmos” where Caleb is. Tibor can’t even sense him. He’s barely hanging on and has no memory or identity. He thinks of how he’d seen Cornelia thinking of him as cruel and heartless, but he’d always planned to protect them (from themselves). He let time pass so Luba could come to terms with her transgressions. So, when the Guardians got there Luba was there. Her sacrifice meant that the Oracle could forgive and release her.

Cornelia’s thoughts have turned into a white feather which will restore some of Caleb’s memories. When the feather touches Caleb’s head, his memories return and he realizes he’s in Meridian. Will confesses to Hay-Lin that she’s worried that the heart will corrupt her like it did Nerissa. The friends have gone to Yan-Lin and she’s told them about Nerissa’s obsession with the heart. Hay-Lin tries to get her to see that if Nerissa was chosen to keep the heart she must have been a good person and besides Will is nothing like her. Things were just starting to go good with her mom, and Matt, and school, but now the strain is causing her not to sleep.

Hay-Lin knows she wants answers tho, so she shows her a letter from her grandmother that’s signed with K. It must be the other Guardian Kadma. Hay-Lin says she thinks Kadma and the other Guardian Halinor are there on Earth. They just so happen to be in Will’s old hometown Baton Hills. On the way to track down Kadma, Hay-Lin starts to hear a song that Will can’t hear. It’s been there since that morning. She’s never heard the tune in her life. The notes feel empty. Its starting to creep her out. They transported themselves with their powers but Hay-Lin knocked into a sign post. She doesn’t tell Will why and only says it takes time to get use to new abilities.

Will and Hay-Lin come to a place called “The Rising Star Foundation”. The grounds resemble a nature preserve. They find Kadma to be elegant and dignified. Will finds out that a couple of her teachers and her old swimming coach (plus many others) were watching her all along and would report everything to Halinor. Will was her protégé. Will is completely dumbfounded! She gives Will a book from Halinor and tells her it’s the only reason she allowed them access. Then she turns cold. It’s a diary. Kadma won’t explain and tries to kick them out. Then Kadma starts to fall and they quickly catch her. Now seated she tells them she hears the same song Hay-Lin has been hearing When Hay-Lin tells her this she realizes Nerissa has returned.

Then she wishes she hadn’t been so cold to them. She goes on to tell them how Neriaa was a musician and she had named it “Nerissa’s Trill” (Kadma had). She tells them she (Nerissa) and Hay-Lin’s grandmother were close. This might be why Hay-Lins immune to the nightmares. She’s asked why she tried to kick them out and she says they represent a past she was trying to forget. Nerissa was once the keeper of the heart (she tells them) but the Oracle saw that she couldn’t be trusted with it and gave it to Cassidy. Cassidy found herself lured into a trap and killed. She and Halinor questioned the Oracle’s decision that’s why she aren’t in Kandrakar. Yan-Lin didn’t agree with them but they remained friends. This confirms to Will that the keeper of the heart is cursed. Kadma realizes they don’t need her sad stories. She needs their support. So, she tells Will she’s not cursed. She was born under a lucky star (the star of Cassidy). She touch’s Will’s hand and presses the diary closer to her (Will’s) heart.

Hay-Lin’s tells the others about what happened at school. Will is absent this day. Irma says she knew the Oracle couldn’t be trusted. Hay-Lin doesn’t agree. She says her grandmother always trusted him. Cornelia says maybe he just wanted to give Nerissa a chance. Taranee just says they need to be taking care of Will. She suggest a trip to Will’s but Hay-Lin has a dentist appointment and Cornelia has to finish homework. Her parents will be going out of town. So, Irma gets Taramee to go by asking her doesn’t she want to see what’s in Halinor’s diary.

At Will’s, Taranee starts to fall asleep. She’s been having nightmares that have been keeping her up and her grades have been dropping. Mrs. Vandom offers them juice and cookies and tells them Will won’t be long. Taranee thinks she sees Will’s mom sneers at them. Irma’s shoveling the cookies into her mouth and then Taranee starts in on her second. Then third. Mrs. Vandom is watching them. She tells them she’s happy they liked the cookies. She’s scared she added to much poison. Taranee feels herself start to chock when she looks up it’s Nerissa. She tells them what they disgested won’t take effect for a few minutes. Until then what they like more juice. They knock the juice over and Mrs. Vandom apologizes for startling them. She tells them that Will is now out of the shower. They apologize and Irma says they just need rest. Taranee says they’ve been having so many nightmares.

They agree to tell the others about the dream later (after they tell Will). Will says her mother figured out she wasn’t sick, but must have figured she needed the day off. Will shows Taranee and Irma the diary. It’s written in a language neither of them recognizes. Will makes a guess tho that it must be about stars and planets Hay-Lin gets a letter from Kadna. Hay-Lin reads it to her friends the next time they meet (and catch up). It says Nerissa lives in the world of nightmares, but that’s also the way to defeat her. Cornelia says she thinks its saying they can attack her in the world of nightmares. All they need to do is fall asleep together. Cornelia says they can have a slumber party at her house since her parents will be away.

Hay-Lin tho has questions of why she sent the message by “snail mail”. Irma just says she’s isolated and not very social. Hay-Lin takes Will to Eric’s grandfather’s observatory. He (Zachary Lynden) takes one look at the diary and says he’ll have to study it further. At the sleepover, Hay- Lin worries about hearing the song again. They discover Cornelia has a doll house in her room. Cornelia and Will start to play with the dollhouse. Then they all slip into sleep.

When they wake up she’s in her W.I.T.C, H outfit. Cornelia has also passed over. There’s a plastic doll that seems out of place. It starts to transform into Nerissa. She offers them some tea and the set goes flying. Will sends it flying back and Cornelia shoots off projectiles. Then the others show up and they start to fight off Nerissa. Nerissa causes an explosion of light which blinds W.I.T.C.H. Then a door slams and Nerissa disappears. The door opens but there’s no kitchen behind it. Inside it is an expansive chess board.

Nerissa is standing there. In the end, Will traps Nerissa in a glass ball, but then she makes herself vanish (which make the Guardians think she’s gone).

My Thoughts
I’m interested to see what the diary will say. I also think that it was *too* easy to think Nerissa’s was defeated that easily. I was fun to set the battle in a doll house and have Nerissa transform from one of the dolls. I actually wished this part would have been longer and had used more of the dollhouse’s things in the fight.

Ah, W.I.T.C.H. So much of my childhood was spend obsessing over the series. The books. The comics. The cartoon. The merchandise. You name it I was into it.

So why only the three stars if I loved it so much?

Well as time went by, I grew disinterested in the series. I went along with it mainly to see how it ended. I simply wanted to know what the final outcome was.

Surely that is not enough to merit three stars? You loved it!

I did, but that was because I was a pre-teen with very low expectations. This came before my vampire-loving period, so you can imagine what my standard was like. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad books – they’re simply not something I can go back to now that I’m older.

Thoroughly enjoyable at the time, but not quite so much now.

Nesmím zapomenout ani na Elyon, i když udělala pár nesprávných rozhodnutí, samozřejmě i další důležité postavy : Věštce, Caleba, Joela, Orube, Cedrika, Matta, Luka, Erica, babičku Hay Lin....
Rozhodně to byla má nejoblíbenější dětská série, at už komixy nebo seriál. Doporučuji všem mladším slečnám. ;)

This was an interesting re-read, the girls took one victory over Nerissa in the nightmare realm. This was an interesting turn of events for the story. Meeting one of the old Guardians and gaining a book of information from another. This was a well done tale and very enjoyable.

Brilliant clever 19th Chapter book instalment of the series. Great plot twist/cliffhanger at end and clever logic to story. Great humour and nostalgia of childhood 🥰

"Good and bad were present in every being, magical or ordinary, mortal or immortal - one had to choose for oneself"

It is a rare event to find a W.I.t.c.h comic these days. So when I saw this issue at a local book fair, I couldn't resist buying it.
Since I am not the targeted audience (anymore), so I find it mediocre. Probably would've obsessed over it if I read it 5-7 years back.
I prefer the comicas.

I used to like these series. Now, I don't think they're so good anymore. I got up to number 12 or something like that, and they've gone up to #26 or something... and they're still coming out!! I'm not really interested into them anymore, but I used to be.

I loved this series! All of the different girls had their own individual personalities that made the series more enjoyable to read. Also, of course the cool magical powers was a plus. I loved the character relationships and adventures the girls got themselves into.
