Great start to the series. Loved Sadies character; especially Hemsworth. Looking forward to the next book.

I liked the introduction to the main characters, but the story and pacing started getting a bit weird for me after the secret magical society was revealed and the men started bonding with the FMC Mercedes/Sadie. I had a lot of issues understanding how the rules in the world worked and what exactly was going on and why for a significant portion of the book. Additionally, the pop culture references of both recent music, celebrities, and other authors thrown in the dialogue were a bit jarring -- I prefer completely fantastical settings without ties to our current reality.
The presence of Elders and their role in the story didn't make much sense to me. What was the point of making the men falsely create Link bonds if they couldn't result in Weaver children since they weren't true mates? And if Sadie's men were such powerful magic users, why the heck did they want to keep following their Night Elders instead of breaking off and doing their own thing as rebels? It didn't seem like they were hurting for money.
I also didn't really understand the introduction of the OW Savannah, a woman that was assigned (encouraged?) by the Elders to be the men's Link. Why did the men allow her to continue try and court them when it was clear that she was behind or at least intimately related with the ? The men mentioned that she was unstable and rejecting her could lead to "repercussions," but it wasn't ever fully explained what kind of importance Savannah had and why it was so dangerous to just tell her to shove off.
Even the societal differences between the Light and Night Weavers weren't very well fleshed out for the reader. There was something about being mortal enemies (except for some secret pact with the Light Weaver heir), and all the story explained was that there was a grudge that hadn't been serious until recently about their "differences" due to the Elders. I didn't really get why there would be a war over different sources of power that the other couldn't even use??? And why do the Light Weavers have an heir... why don't the Night Weavers have one?
Red/Reed was another character that super bothered me -- his interaction took up a significant portion of the introduction, but after a few phone texts with Sadie, his presence just completely disappeared for 70% of the book before he dropped in again and revealed as . And then he wasn't mentioned again for the rest of the book again even though he was supposed to be . I felt the same way with Vin the shifter, someone who seemed to be hinted as . There was a serious lack of smooth integration of characters that were supposed to integral to Sadie's story.
The above were absolutely not the only questions I had about the story, but they were the biggest ones that had issues with. It was certainly an action-filled book, and I'm a sucker for animal familiars, but the pacing and world-building were rather lacking. It was overall a decent debut book for the author, and Sadie was pretty consistent as a smart fierce independent heroine, but I'm passing on reading the rest of the series due to my confusion of the world and characters introduced.

Did Not Finish
February 24, 2023DNF…sorry, can’t do it. So far it’s all just taking a trope/archetype and dialing it up to the point that’s it starts to feel cartoony. You have your classic “I’m a badass FMC” even though she can’t function around men and “omg I did I say that out loud?!”, and then you’ve got the classic “I’m sexy and I’m going to keep feeling you up even though you keep scowling at me” evil OW, and finally, the alpha, insta-horny men drooling around the FMC. There’s a reason these things are popular/common in romance, so while I don’t have anything against the fact that these things are present in this story, I just really feel that the actual execution of the story needed work to make it actually feel…real. And the awkward, heavy info-dumps really contributed that too.
Pretty sure this is the author’s debut novel so idk, maybe I’ll try another work of hers a few years down the line and see if the writing style changes at all.

May 19, 2021This was a fun, cute book. I picked it up not really knowing much about it, but I was desperate for something to read and the blurb sounded good. I'm really glad that I did too, because it was much more engaging than I anticipated (this had nothing whatsoever to do with the author, I just have been experiencing so much burnout with a lot of the RH reads I've come across lately, that my expectations are just low).
Anyways...the story is one that kept me entertained, and there were a couple of laugh out loud moments for me too. I enjoyed the premise of the story, and I'm curious enough to want to read book 2.
So...why aren't I leaving a rating?? Because I don't think it would be a fair rating. While I did enjoy this book, I found myself really annoyed too. I have a few pet peeves that most people that have read any of my reviews know about, and that is: No panty sniffing, no harem members getting together and falling in love after they have met the FMC, and I don't like when books make *a lot of references to bands and song names and/or other books and authors.
I totally know those are weird things to not like (as most other people don't even notice or enjoy those things), but that's why I'm not leaving a star rating. I know my quirks are weird and I understand its not the author's fault that I am the way I am.
*Note: This book seemed to list a lot of songs, artists, and made references to other authors and books. I don't mind when authors list songs, as some of my favorite songs have been found because I read about it in a book, but I don't like when its a continual occurrence throughout the book. "I was listening to so and so's blah blah blah while taking a shower, and then this person's song came on while I was doing my hair, then I put on John Doe's yadda yadda while I was working out." You get me? I mean, this book wasn't as obvious as that, but it happened enough that I found myself irritated with it.
Anyways, good book and you'll probably like it if you aren't super weird like me and have weird quirks.

Hilarious and Twisted
I did not want to put this book down! It is not just hilarious, but it's so different than anything else I've read so far. I thought this was a shifter romance but I couldn't be more wrong!
Sadie has a strong but goofy personality that keeps you on your toes. Her life changes so fast and she's suddenly surrounded by mates but nothing goes smoothly. It's fast paced and interesting, always surprising you.
I can't recommend this book enough and I'm already dying waiting for the next book!

This is Demi’s debut novel and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I was captured from the moment I started reading! The storyline was great the writing was fabulous and the author is able to bring all of the characters personalities to life. Sadie is both strong and absolutely hilarious! There were so many moments were I laughed out loud at the stuff that came out of her mouth or about what she was thinking. Sadie’s BFF Ashley is absolutely goals she is down right loyal and puts up with no crap. There were a bunch of twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end and I’m dying to get my hands on the next book!

Ok so I wasn't expecting much from this book at first to be honest, I was a little let down from a previous book I read by another author...... But I was completely enthralled right from the first chapter! The characters are well built and personable. The story line is fantastic and keeps you fully engulfed in the story and time disappears as you read it. I can not wait for the next installment to find out what happens. Although I had not read anything by Demi previously, I am definitely a fan now!!

Sadie is a likeable character. She is fierce and protective and shows she can clearly take care of herself.
Marked by Night is an amazing start to this new series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Fantastic debut novel by Demi. I love Sadie as she is has a quick wit and accepts a life changing event. She meets three guys and with two she hits it off right away. Trusting her instinct she goes along and Kaos and Dante know she is their link. Their leading lady. The third Elian knows too but he is more reluctant and has reasons for this but can't deniecthe bond there is. Sadie is being hunted by other weavers and the guys help out best they can. Now what's become of her life? Can she learn all there is to know fast enough?

On one hand, this book has a fantastic plot and an exciting world. On the other hand, I didn’t care for the characters or their relationships.
Sadie (FMC) has just met four mates. She has only just learned about magic and weavers (witches). She barely knows anything about mate bonds and various other supernaturals. She’s being targeted by both light and dark weavers who are trying to kill or capture her for unknown reasons. Needless to say, Sadie has been having an awful time recently.
It’s pretty darn obvious where the plot is heading in this series. I’m still relatively interested to read about the path these characters take to get there.
The relationships are garbage, though. Surface-level feelings and lust are all that is happening here. These guys don’t feel protective/possessive of their mate; they don’t even stand behind her against another woman who wants the guys for herself. These men literally almost let Sadie walk away from them permanently because they didn't want to rock the boat with this other woman. So they are either cowards or their fated mate means nothing to them. There is no groveling, no apologies, and Sadie just lets the whole situation go without a problem. What?! No.
One of Sadie's fated mates goes out of his way to treat her like crap. He’s doing it purposefully. Except while the male can keep the hateful facade going without difficulty, Sadie lets MMC get away with manhandling her and treating her like garbage because he’s so sexy. Oh, the misogyny. Apparently, he’s strong, and she’s just a weak-willed female who can't help but be overcome by his manly body and sexy abs. I really hate this trope.

Boring and predictable!
This book was pretty predictable. It has a mean girl, the crazy ex-boyfriend, and a girl finding out she has magical powers. I felt like I'd read the book before. The guys in the harem were all pretty lackluster as well. Sadie is ridiculously immature...it annoyed me to the point of nearly quitting the book on several occasions. For instance, at one point the mean girl comes to the door and demands to be let in their house. The guys in the harem don't say a whole lot but I guess Sadie expected them to throat punch her or something. Sadie gets mad and stomps off and threatens to leave because the guys didn't react the way she wanted them to. It all felt very middle school to me. She definitely has the emotional intelligence of a preteen. One minute she's flirting with the guys and letting her inner dialogue slip out and the next she's threatening to stab them or kick their ass. It was just really goofy. Her character wavers between a naive and flirty virgin to a cursing and emotional stunted preteen. It got old really fast. I really don't mind cursing but the book needs to have some substance. Sadie was non-stop defensive as well. Getting mad at the drop of a hat and acting like a self-righteous douchebag is not an appealing look on a FMC in my opinion. The plot was abrupt and had vague explanations as well. Vin and Reed are the most interesting characters out of all of them and they barely get any book time. The intimate scenes were also profoundly boring. There really wasn't much build up to that scene whatsoever. No tension at all. Once it finally happened it was about as exciting as reading the owners manual of a Toyota Camry. I've gotten more turned on watching my husband load the dishwasher. All in all this book was pretty disappointing to me.

Jesus, this was..... I don't even know how to say it.
Let's talk about it. First, i will admit that this book got my attention because there is a dog on the cover (Imma dog person, okay? Don't judge me) and till I quit this book, that dog was my favorite character.
So Sadie, our FMC. She is strong, smart, kind and of course, she is the strongest of all or she will be, because she is coming into her powers.
So, my problem with Sadie is that she is one of those characters that wants to be so strong that ends up being effing stupid, you know what I mean? That was really annoying, she will put everyone in danger because she is incapable of thinking when she believes she is being weak.
Aaaaandddd would it be a RH book if the author did not fall into the classic "Let's normalize and romanticize one of the guys in the harem being low-key (or maybe not so low key) abusive with the FMC, we don't care if it's a dangerous thing to normalize, let's do it any way". How did I make it this far in the book with that? I honestly don't know, the moment Elias came into the picture I almost out the book down. Let's stop with this "Don't worry girls, if he is abusive with you, you still can simp over the guy, he will eventually come around (which they don't and that's the problem)" is so problematic and I'm beyond tired of it. So let's stop with it, shall we?
Dante and Kaos were meh, I liked them until they had to stand up for Sadie and they just stood there watching how that other girl just humiliated her.
I will give it 2 starts but is more like 1.5.

I enjoyed this book! For a debut I found it solid and well written.
Sadie was a funny FMC and I liked her thoughts and banter. I don’t love the virgin heroine trope but I felt like I understood her reasoning at least. Hemsworth was a great addition as a familiar and I always love seeing them in books!
I liked her guys, even Elian who was a huge jerk lol. I can’t wait to find out more about why he thought he had to reject her, especially for the other girl. I hope she gets whats coming to her lol. I’m not a big fan of OW drama so I hope book 2 doesn’t include that much. When they almost sided with her because of their elders I almost reached in and smacked them. I did think she forgave them a little too quickly though, just for at least not communicating more with her about the elders and what she should expect.
I’m interested to know if the shifter will be part of her harem! And I can’t wait to know more about Reed, and Sadie’s past.
Overall, it was enjoyable and a quick read!

I did think she forgave them a little too quickly though, just for at least not communicating more with her about the elders and what she should expect.
I’m interested to know if the shifter will be part of her harem! And I can’t wait to know more about Reed, and Sadie’s past.

I love finding new authors to read and Demi did not disappoint. I was hooked right from the start and Sadie is pretty awesome!
This book is a fated mates book and while usually I'm not a fan of those I was pleasantly surprised. What really surprised me was seeing a glimpse as to why Elian is a jerk to Sadie which you don't see very often. Ashley is the best BFF anyone could ever ask for and she is my spirit animal. The book as a whole kept you intrigued and surprised you at every turn. What I loved the most was that Sadie was rational in all her decision making (for the most part) and didn't add any unnecessary drama especially while being thrust into a new world.
It a wonderful start to a new series and a great first debut. I can't wait to see what book 2 brings us.

A high 4.5 star rating! I actually enjoyed reading this book. The FMC was really mature, intelligent, badass, and had really good morals/values.
She was thrown/introduced to a secret, magical society and she took everything in strides. She kept moving forward, listening too her gut and intuition.

Good start to a series
I enjoyed this book. Sadie is the type of heroine I like in my books. She has an inner strength and soft heart that speak to me. Also I like her true friendship with Ash and I want more of it.
If I’m honest it was quite predictable overall, especially that ending but I’m still going to go for the next book. I’m intrigued by how things will go with some characters that were mentioned.
Also, thanks for the dedication to Tate James. I love when authors manage to bring up other authors I like.

Sadie has had a rough life, but she is resilient, has a ride or die BFF who is always there with her, she is blunt, and fierce. The guys are interesting. I kind of hope that there is more with Vin - he really needs to join the harem. Elian needs to do some groveling. Dante and Koas are great. Bediis like a wacky fairy godmother, and I just love her. The story does end with a cliffy, so I’m hoping book 2 is out soon.

I stayed up until 3am reading this book because I was unable to put it down from page one. Lots of mystery into Sadie’s past that we are wanting to learn more about. I wish there was more explanation into what a weaver is, who the elders are, light vs dark. Hopefully the next books have the answers. Very well written and you are pulled right in with the characters.

I never heard of this book before but was pleasantly surprised. It has a dark rom-com vibe. Admittedly the writing wasn’t the best and the prose was cringey at times but if couldn’t put it down. It’s definitely written in crack-format and I can’t wait to start the next book in the series. The characters are intriguing and funny, the plot is packed with action. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Holy hell, this is Demi’s first book?! I absolutely loved so many things about this book from how hilarious it is throughout (especially Ash😂), to how full of magic it is, to how protective (and freaking hot) Sadie’s mates are😍. The storyline is fast paced and full of twists that keep you on your toes. I’m so excited to see where this series goes, especially after that ending!!😲 I highly recommend this book!

Lack of feelings
I had some issue with this book.
Despite the fact that the FMC, Sadie, is an amazing young woman (beautiful, fierce, resilient, clever, and brave), something felt wrong with her relationship with the guys😕
She only spoke about how the guys were hot and blablabla but never about real feelings. Then, Kaos mated with her without her consent (it was just touching hands but anyway, being aware that you're going to be tied for eternity to a stranger could be cool😕🙄). It felt as well that the guys didn't feel anything and were just horny all the time or upset because they worried and wanted to protect Sadie. Paternalistic and machist as hell... They didn't know everything about her and neither did she! It was disturbing😳
It was also weird reading about Sadie fantasies about the guys: she was a virgin but as soon as she met the guys she became a kind of hussy dreaming of sex orgie...totally realistic🤦🏻♀️
Some things in the storyline or in the world building felt a bit weird and there were some inconsistencies about the Elders, the guys and the way they accepted living in an abusive society and contributing to it, how they didn't dump Savannah directly, etc.
I hope getting some answers in the next book and that their relationship will become more healthy🧐

I've never been on to read Why Choose/RH but I met this author at a signing event and was obsessed with the covers and just how nice/sweet the author was. I saw this book was free for Stuff Your Kindle Day and picked it up because why now, its not like I would be out anything if I didn't like it. I am now completely obsessed. I was up till 3am finishing this book and im so ready to jump into the next. Highly recommend. Its full of all of the snarky comments from the fmc and tons of alpha goodness.

So I have passed by this book probably a dozen times in the Kindle store and everytime I would skip it because I couldn't take the cover and the blurb wasn't selling a story I hadn't heard yet.
It was my mistake, this is a truly wonderful RH novel from an emerging author and I highly recommend it.

This book. Yes.
From the start, it had my attention all the way through to the last word.
Sadie meets some handsome strangers, loses her job, and ends up spending the night with her bestie at the music festival where shit really starts to hit the fan. Ultimately she finds out that all her little quirks (rapid healing, enhanced strength, and intuition) are just precursors for what she really is, which is not human. She's a Night Weaver and the fated for Kaos, Dante, and Elirian. The Night Weaver Elders are sketchy AF and have been interfering with these Circles and their fated - their magic is weakening because the circles aren't actually true mates. I loved Sadie. She was funny (actually funny, not just trying to be funny) and badass. She could handle her own and take care of herself. I really liked that the writer didn't just tell us that she is badass, but showed us instead. The only thing I didn't like (which I am now realizing is a bit of a pet peeve for me) is when she uses the "traitorous body" comment. I cannot stand that shit, its over done and a poor excuse for a heroine's response to a pretty man. However, I'll forgive it this time for this book because there was a lot more good outweighing that one stupid comment.
I liked the guys (most of them). Initially, I thought Kaos was gonna be the broody one, turns out he is the sensitive/attentive one, and I gotta say I like it. Dante is the silly, lighthearted one, but he could flip it when he needed too. Elirian turned out to be the broody one, and broody he was.
I also liked the other characters as well. I love how loyal and blunt Ashley is. Even when Sadie kind of crashed her party, she was there ready to be the ride or die. I liked the
ANYWAYS...
So, yeah this was a good read. It ends on a cliffhanger, but IMO, it isn't that bad of one. There are still a lot of questions that I hope we get answers too (that lake).
Will definitely continue this series, only wish I waited to read this one so I didn't have to wait on the other books to be released... I'm too impatient. If you like Ivy Asher's stuff, you will probably (most definitely) like this one. Definitely recommend.

I'm curious enough to keep reading but I'm not sure how long I will be able to hang on.
The FMC is pretty unlikable. She's emotionally very immature (she reads like a teenager), extremely quick to anger (not annoyance - outright anger), threatens anyone who dares offer to help her, and overall isn't very kind to anyone except little snippets of her love for her best friend. Her personality seems centered around her being "stabby" and the fact that she wears Converse shoes. I do like that she doesn't allow the guys to make decisions for her, but it's quickly overshadowed by cocky, rude attitudes and overcompensating for who knows what.
She meets the guys and it seems like the only reason they like her is simply because she is their mate. We don't get much relationship development whosoever. We do get threats, stomping around, demands that she deserves better, and she even slaps one of the guys for an insensitive comment directed at the hired help.... so she's already physically abusive towards one of them (it's the asshole, but still).
After the entire first book and being with them for several days (a week? the timeline is confusing) I don't think we witness any get-to-know-you from her. She settles into "they're mine" and doesn't bother to learn anything about them.
I'm also not a fan of the Reverse Harem stereotype of "the asshole" in the group who the FMC still swoons over and "my traitorous body" over him because he's so hot and his verbally abusive behavior is completely overlooked.
So while I will continue with the story, I honestly don't have high hopes at the moment.

I admit, I had no idea what this book was about when I got it. I saw the golden retriever on the cover and wanted it 🐾
Summary: Sadie is a broke, attractive and confident FMC who has a history of 1. Loss of family; 2. Recent breakup from a tool of an ex; 3. Horrendous upbringing post loss of family; 4. Not like others girl. She’s got mysterious strength and intuition.
She comes across 2 hot strangers, who become a trio and is saved from the clutches of the ex boyfriend, who also happens to harbour a sinister secret.
Forced proximity occurs and mateship happens while Sadie figures out what she is…which shouldn’t be so hard for her if her mates just told her everything.
Bad guys come for her, a fight happens and the book ends on a cliffhanger.

Sadie - strong, capable, independent and likeable
Kaos - 1st mate is caring, loving and hot. Heals wounds and creates shields out of smoke or shadows 💨
Dante - 2nd mate. Jovial, lovable and hot. Shoots fire 🔥

Not a bad start to a new to me series
This one is fast paced, snarky, and fun. I enjoyed the whole thing but I would love to know more on Weavers. Throughout the series we don’t get a lot of what they are, what their system is or anything like that.
In this we get information on what Sadie is finally. She is completely unaware of her heritage and has no idea what she’s getting into. This book wound up reminding me of Bonds that Tie by J Bree series. It’s got some similar elements.
Now Sadie’s ride or die, Ashley I feel like she’s suspect. Idk she was whispering on the phone, the thinly veiled digs that are meant to be “jokey” she just doesn’t seem as supportive as she seems to think Ashley is.
At the end of the book we find out some big thing and immediately Sadie starts crying. What rubbed me wrong in this scene is there was no lead up to her breakdown it was just told and ended there. She collapsed sobbing. No building up of the big feelings, the despair etc.
I also suspect Reed, and Vin are ALSO her mates. I suspect she’s goddess touched and is here to right some wrongs.
At the end of the book there are some minor typos then instead of them and the second to last sentence there’s another typo as well. Nothing major just super noticeable here at the end.

Marked by night is an awesome fantasy RH that stars Sadie and her men, alongside her familiar Hemsworth. Sadie has extra abilities which she has kept hidden as much as possible. She knows something is going on, but has no idea what or who she can turn too. So what does she do?
She simply powers on, keeping her sassy and completely hilarious ass moving throughout life! After all, what else can she do?!
However, all of that changes on one fateful night when she meets her hot as sin men, ending up in a suspenseful battle that is like something out of the movies.
Following Sadie and her men throughout this book is an absolute pleasure. Flowing seamlessly from one scene to the next, you forget all about reading and just enjoy the ride.
Full of lots of suspense, steaminess, heartfelt emotions and action, it is a thrilling read for sure.
The character building is also on point, developing naturally throughout the course of the book. Each individual has their own character and past that is demonstrated consistently throughout the book, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in their world.
