A fabulous e-book short story from best-selling author Trisha Ashley.
Professional cake-maker Kate doesn’t have time for a man in her life, especially a boorish, sports-mad one like Wes. He’s definitely not her type. But at her best friends wedding, when one crisis follows another, Kate begins to wonder whether she’s misjudged Wes. Can love be the sweetest thing of all?
A warm, witty and romantic short story from Sunday Times top 5 best-selling author Trisha Ashley.
Trisha Ashley is now a full-time novelist, but she has been known to work for stained glass makers and/or plumbers. She likes to paint, eat, drink, and read literary biographies. Her previous hobbies included getting divorced and packing to move. She claims to have once actually eaten Bronte burgers at the Branwell café, but her publisher declines to verify this. She lives in North Wales.
Sometimes you can't beat a good short story to fill a gap inbetween other stuff.
So this short story was meant to be 56 pages or so I though, but actually it was more like 25 pages as rest of those 56 pages was dedicated to advertising another one of Trisha books, a full length one.
So whilst this turned out to be the shortest story I've ever read, there is no denying that it was very sweet and fun. I actually thought the story had potential to have been turned into a full length story, makes me wonder why the author didn't.
I liked the characters and would have loved to have had the opportunity to get to know them better.
This is an extremely short story about a wedding cake maker. I picked it up to try out Trisha Ashley's writing style as she seems to be very prominent in this genre and after enjoying Sophie Kinsella so much I felt like this would be something I would enjoy.
On the whole, this story was a little boring. The plot and what happened to the characters was pretty predictable and there weren't any surprises. I did enjoy the writing style and the way that the first person protagonist was developed.
Overall I will definitely be trying some more Trisha Ashley in the future but this definitely isn't something I would recommend. Apart from the writing style, this isn't something I particularly enjoyed.
Very short. Premise is cute. Something about the way the characters spoke just didn't feel real. Wanted to try out this author before I got a full length. Probably won't read more.
In Trisha Ashley's A Piece of Cake, this romantic comedy will make you laugh out lead and leave you in stitches. And it's perfect for a very light read to read in one sitting. Kate is a professional baker and helping her best friend Laura plan the perfect wedding cake for her wedding to Harry. But she's through with men and wants to focus on her professional bakery. Six months ago, she had a rough time with pro footballer Wes. But during Laura's wedding, things didn't off with a hitch when her cake ended up being part of a crisis. Then she glanced at Wes and decided to give Wes a second chance and gave a good laugh for a sweet ending.
A delicious short story centered around Kate who's making a wedding cake for her best friend. A sweet short read which you will read in 15-20minutes. Surprisingly quite alot is packed into it aswell as some light romance and humour I enjoyed it
A nice short story from a wonderful author. Love always seems to come so easily around food! A tiny bit more detail could have been written in but, obviously, it's a short story!
Nice story but be warned: only 37% of this volume is actually the story. The rest is recipes and the beginning of another novel which I have already read! I feel cheated!
Kate is a professional cake-maker who is completely focused on her work, which means she doesn’t have the time to find a boyfriend. When she is asked by her best friend Laura to make the cake for her wedding, she has no idea Laura wants to set Kate up with her groom’s best man, Wes. However, Wes and Kate already know one another and Kate is convinced their different lifestyles do not mix, especially since Wes is a famous footballer who loves to party. But at Laura’s wedding, Kate can’t help but bump into Wes and she starts to doubt whether she should give him another chance...
This short story is a wonderful treat which is perfect to be read in just one sitting. Just like Trisha Ashley’s books, the story is well-written and captivating, and has a lot of yummy cakes and delicious treats in it. I really liked the friendship between Kate and Laura, and the sparks between Kate and Wes were definitely there! I would really like to see a full-length novel starring these characters, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that. ‘A Piece of Cake’ is a quick read, a warm and yummy story to enjoy when you have a few extra minutes!
Always Trisha Ashley gives us glorious reads with just about a bit of everything in them. As short as A Piece of Cake maybe it still gives just as much as an Ashley full-length read. It's a fast, romantic, comical feast that has you laughing and sighing in term. Heroine Kate is the perfect heroine. Flame haired, with a curvy body and a love of cake. Her hatred for football and footballers only make the plot to this novella better. Especially when Kate's best friend Laura marries footballer Harry and she has to get to know his best man and fellow footballer Wes Rufford.
Without a doubt this is a little slice of Ashley heaven. I would have loved to have read more. 5/5
This is a rather sweet short story about professional cake maker, Kate, who is making her friend's wedding cake. She is hoping that her previous disastrous meeting with Wes, the best man at the wedding isn't going to be repeated this time. This is a feel good short story with added cake - what's not to like?
As well as the short story there is a recipe for a wedding cake which could also be used for a Christmas cake or other special occasion cake. There is also an extract from the author's new novel 'Creature Comforts' to be published in June 2015.
wonderful short story i just wished it would have last the time of an entire book..kate met wes while she was making a wedding cake for her best friend ..but she doesn't like football player and all of them are .. i really wanted to see more about it but found it was in trisha ashley style which i really love
I really enjoyed this short story from Trisha Ashley - although I didn't read the sneak peak of her new novel because it'll only make me to desperate to read it!
