Paxton Pechkin is finally home for good. After a stellar career as a Navy SEAL, he finds himself staring at a very familiar face. He'd always felt that Deanna was the one that got away, although he was responsible for letting her go. This time, he wasn't going to allow her to go anywhere without him. After suffering a horrible beating, Dee hides away in a place that Pax knows all too well. Finding her, loving her, is the easy part. Figuring out what the hell is happening off the coast of San Diego is something very different.
Deanna Trehorn has loved Pax since they were children. She thought their chance was long gone but when he's standing in front of her, ready to breathe life into her once again, she can't deny her feelings are as strong as ever. There's something about the house in Coronado that makes Deanna feel safe and rejuvenated. There's also something evil happening off the coast that she and the others cannot deny.

This one brings immigrants a whole new name, and their plight another new twist. In all this, Pax, son of Benji Pechkin, finds his slightly delayed happy ever after.
Most of the action in this one takes place away from Belle Fleur, which sometimes I find lacking, as I miss the whole crew. The action did take place in Coronado, so Faith and Ian's house played a big part in things, so it felt like home too.
It was nice to see that Pax and Deanna didn't fight their feelings, that finally they were on the same page. Things with them ended up great, like all the other couples.
The drama in this one came from what Pax and Deanna discovered and then found out more horrors when they, along with others in the group started to investigate. What they discovered was awful, glad that it got taken care of, especially the bad guys. But it really sucked when they found out just who the bad guys were on a couple of levels. It will take a while for a couple of the guys to get past what and how they found out.
Mary Kennedy is an author that brings real life issues into her stories with a twist. She has created a world of heroes and angels trying to make the world a better place. I hope she never kills any of her characters. Pax and Dee story was beautifully and heartbreaking as the GV team tried to help those most desperate for help. Betrayal to one member is heartbreaking . excellent story
I chose this rating because this was a pretty good book. This was a book of compassion. kindness, protection, understanding, and falling in love. I enjoyed Pax and Deanna story. They came together again after a tragedy that Deanna had went through. They were meant for each other since they were young kids. The stars are aligned for them. I think they make a really great couple. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.
You can always count on the team to change the world. Even if it is only one step at a time. Mary's books are so detailed and believable. Hopefully the events outlined in her books will not happen. Just love these stories.
