She was hoping for a dinosaur—what she got was much, much worse!
As a girl, Dr. Anna Lerner was gifted with a small piece of an unidentified “sea monster” carcass that became the basis of her life’s the recreation of an extinct species through cloning. But years of research and genetic manipulation gave birth not to a plesiosaur but a wholly unique a predator with a ravenous lust for flesh. Anna’s assistant calls it “Junior.” And it’s getting bigger.
Anna spirits the beast away from the ocean park where she works and installs it in an isolated lake. But Junior proves to have unexpected abilities that make him even more dangerous than Anna suspected. Abilities not only to kill… but to control. She realizes he needs to be stopped… but it may just be a bit too late.
A fun creature feature that departs from the norm of something known but unnaturally large by adding in genetic experimentation into the mix to create a whole new creature that proves too great for the sum of its parts.
The story follows Dr Anna Lerger who is the scientist who creates the creature as part of a experimentation program at the local ocean attraction park. Using a small sample of flesh from an unknown sea monster that her dad had captured when she was just a child, her years of attempting to create the creature finally pays off but she gets more than she bargained for when it emerges into the world and causes havoc.
This was an enjoyable story from start to finish. Many characters are intentionally unlikable with their own agendas (mostly selfish ones) which is also a refreshing departure from the formula.
Recommended for those who like something a little different in their sea creature horror.
Anna has always been fascinated with ocean life. Her father makes a discovery in her childhood. Now, years later, Anna has made her own discovery. It grows quickly and is extremely hungry.
