When Gabriel Romano is kidnapped by his father’s enemy, he fears he doesn’t have long to live. But when Viktor Yakov’s plan fails, Gabriel is given another chance at life.
Except Viktor doesn’t let Gabriel go. He turns him into his toy instead.
Gabriel has no choice but to give himself completely to Viktor, but he never expected to start falling for his captor or to keep wanting him even when he knows it’s wrong.
Has Viktor damaged Gabriel, or is there really something more between them?
Damaged is a dark MM mafia captive romance and contains explicit sexual content, kidnapping, dubious consent, an age gap, size difference, murder, homophobia, and morally gray characters. Reader discretion is advised.
Rated 3.75-A decent dark MM Mafia Captive Romance. I got all the tropes I wanted. I like the fact there was a bit of Stockholm Syndrome happening. The captive, Gabriel, was certainly trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Questioning if his feelings were a result of his trauma or if he was simply meant to be in love with a man like his captor. The one thing that was like a double whammy was Gabriel inner monologue whenever he was with Viktor. He was very much liking being used like an object but not to the cold degree Viktor established. The backstory wasn't that interesting. I mostly read these books as a view into the depraved minds. People that acknowledge monsters are real and that they don't hide the fact that you should fear them.
This is a is a insta love captive captor book very 🥵 victor kidnaps his enemies son thinking that he was gonna get revenge for him k🔪lling his sister, but that’s not how it turned out because the daddy didn’t care so Victor decides to keep him as his toy and Gabriel wants to fight it at first, but very quickly changes his mind This is the first for me from this author, but I will definitely be looking out for more.
This was okay. Viktor seemed slightly dumb as a mobster… not realizing that Gabriel’s father disowned him years ago, being like “rumours say he is gay”, even though his men grabbed him from a club when he was leaving with a man.
It’s also pretty repetitive. Both characters just have the same thoughts over and over. Gabriel about how men treat him like a toy, how he shouldn’t want Viktor, that maybe he has Stockholm Syndrome. Viktor that maybe the rumours are true that Gabriel is gay, that he makes him feel something, but that he can’t feel something.
And of course, we got whitefanging, which I’m not a fan of as a trope. But then, Viktor decides to quit the mob and seems to do so and wrap things up rather quickly… um, not sure that solves the problem. I don’t think a top mobster gets to just walk away with his hands clean and no enemies.
Also, Viktor didn’t touch Gabriel’s dick a single time in the entire book. He received blowjobs, fingered him (as prep vs just for funsies), and fucked him. There was not a single reciprocal blowjob, and not even a handjob, or a casual touch to poor Gabe’s dick.
Overall, if I wanted to read a toxic relationship between a mobster and his captive, I’d read Just a Bit Ruthless.
I found the story to be poorly developed and the characters to be very shallow. Katya and Gabriel's father are mentioned several times in the story, without much use. In fact, the only thing we know about Katya is that she is dead. Viktor doesn't seem to be part of the mafia and all the scenes that try to describe him as such leave a lot to be desired. Their relationship is completely sexual and, apart from that, I didn't feel any chemistry between the couple. They are portrayed in a completely one-dimensional way. I also kept expecting some major conflict at the end of the book, but it was all very meh. And I finished reading it like "is that it?". I don't recommend it.
It’s a little dark but it could’ve been darker. The ending was a little too sweet for me and could’ve been darker. I felt like to truly love another you’d have to accept both the good and bad in one another. I also was disappointed when there was no more smutty talk afterwards. I think there was a dynamic of dom and sub that wasn’t pursued and could’ve been nice. Overall pretty good
Fast-paced captivity romance! I definitely had to turn on my fantasy goggles since there’s very little reality in this one. I actually found I liked Viktor and his right-hand man Sasha more than the captive Gabriel. It’s a hot story so spice is not lacking in it! I would recommend this one if you were in the mood for a spicy mobster to sweep you off your feet.
