An Ode To The Honey Tongued

Rate this book
For fans of Midsommar. Miel Josephs is trapped in a mundane life in Pleasantfield. Fae works at a failing newspaper writing articles about garbage initiatives that no one reads. Everything is predictable, boring, and nothing is interesting faer.

That all changes with an article about a pop up show for Mabon, the hottest new act from Ireland, gains so much traction on the Tribune’s website that fae are invited to follow Mabon on the tour.

Slowly, Miel starts to learn that Mabon has more underneath the surface than fae bargained for. He’s keeping his cards close to the chest, but something about him and his words taste too sweet to be true.

A 4 star, recommended read honestly. This is a really late review even though I promised Miss Grace to post my review as soon as I was done with the book. Any how, being a person who is always afraid to experiment with the genres like fantasy and mythological characters, out of my comfort zone aka thrillers, crime and mystery, this book proved itself to be something I loved. Even though, I could almost predict twists and turns of this book except the major twist, I loved how it involved a new perspective of Irelandish Mythology which was a new experience for me and a creepy setting that I could even feel it tingling on my skin. The book has some level of spice in it but it was not uncomfortable to read about it. For those who don't prefer a lot of spice, may feel alright while reading it. However, for me, this was absolutely a book set in a unique way, with lyrical prose and an exploration of Ireland mythology instead of Greek like every other fantasy book. Overall, genuinely liked the book. At places, I felt like the book was a bit complex for me but overall, I was able to keep my head in until I finished it in 2 sittings consecutively.
Thankyou to the author for letting me read her book as an advance copy.

Wow, I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did, but wow, this was such a wild ride but a fun read.

The main character is non-binary…. I repeat THE MAIN CHARACTER IS NON-BINARY! I have never been able to find a book with non-binary characters, so thank you W.A. Grace for making my little queer heart happy.

Reading this made me feel like how Miel does when she interacts with Mabon; bewitched, enchanted, can’t look away. I mean, who can resist an Irish accent? I know I couldn’t!

I love the subtle implications of Mabon’s true nature with those around him, how alarm bells are ringing as the book progresses, how people are warning Miel to be careful.

The slow downfall of Miel’s mental state through such detailed words was very beautiful. It made me want to shake some sense into the damn person but it made the ending much more intense.

I look forward to seeing what W.A. Grace brings next because this was so much fun. Thank you to this incredible author for recommending me their book!💖

I have to agree with the creepy/mystery Hozier vibes but it was so intriguing to read! And Irish accents? Can you just imagine? I've already recommended to a couple friends who I think may enjoy this as well!

‘...the first few melodic notes reverberate around the hall, and I can feel it in my soul. It’s earth shattering and sets my cells on fire as I listen to the drag of his thick Irish accent across the notes.’

What would you do if you won a pair of tickets off the radio and when they showed up, you could’ve sworn that the contest had been for a different artist?

Who wouldn’t turn down a free concert, right? That is only the start of the mystery about to unfold.

One of the things that I loved about this book was how the love for music the author has come through the pages. The mystery of the story starts off right in the first chapter, and I couldn’t stop until the end.

I loved being just as out of it and trying to figure out what is going on along with the main character. A great read for anyone who enjoys the ‘what is going on’ feel of Alice in Wonderland.

Midsommar enwrapped in mythical music with an Irish accent as a bow.

Obsessed. This is so unlike any of Grace's other works and she pulled it off so well. It gave me such cult vibes with a mix of horror, pleasure, and an absolute fervor throughout the town that was just incredible. Miel was an incredible MC, I absolutely loved following them throughout the story. I won't go into details, but this is an absolute must read from Grace!

Super fun! What would you do if you fell for a musician and then everything went topsy turvey? Heavily Hozier inspired and great creepy vibes!
