Ruth

Rate this book
To young Ruth of Moab, the Israelite family of Elimelech and Naomi had always been "those weird religious people" from a foreign land. That is, until one day she found that their son, Mahlon, was to be her new husband. After learning to adapt to the strange customs of the Israelites whose peculiar God was so different from any of the gods in Moab, she soon discovered that the Israelite God was different in another way. He was real, and He answered prayers.
After ten years of marriage though, a famine in Moab left Ruth as a widow, with no family to turn to except her mother-in-law, Naomi. As she began her new life gleaning dropped heads of grain in an Israelite field, Ruth began to wonder if the Israelite God would ever allow her to have a life that wasn't filled with poverty and shame. She had no idea yet that God had already sent her an answer, and that answer's name was Boaz.
