It was never in Noah's plan to fall for one of his coworkers. To Noah, Lanie was wild with a spirit that no one could ever tame, while all he craves is control in all things. It doesn't help that any relationship between FBI agents is nothing but a disaster from beginning to end. But, Noah knew that it didn't matter what excuse he made, he was only fooling himself, Lanie was all he wanted...
“This is a mistake.” The four careless words Noah had spoken after the best kiss he'd ever experienced in his life and yet had almost cost him everything. He knew without a doubt that he had no choice, he had to walk away.
But when Noah hears that Lanie's current undercover assignment has put her in the crosshairs and her very life is in danger, he knows what he has to do. There's nothing in this world that he wouldn't do to keep her safe...
...Even if that means that Noah loses her forever.
C.B. Noy has this ability to write such amazing romantic suspense and On The Hunt is no different. This is such an amazing series and I have loved it.
The chemistry between Noah and Lanie has been there since the very start but they've been ignoring their feelings, dodging and weaving around each other for one reason or the other. And just when we think they are finally going to stop tip-toeing around each other and step into their destiny, a single misunderstanding happens and unravels everything and once again we are back to the dodging and weaving.
I would normally laugh at the miscommunication trope, we are supposed to be reading about adults here with adult problems, and if that's the case, why can't we just talk about what happened, work through the miscommunication, and end up laughing about it? Here though, C.B. Noy has masterfully crafted and framed things in such a way that I wasn't laughing. And I could feel Lanie's angst in trying to avoid the conversation she needed to have with Noah, it just rolled off the page.
The nice thing is when they do end up having this much-needed conversation, they do act like adults, it's done rather quickly, clearly, and maturely, and you can feel like they don't have any real lingering issues or regrets.
I loved the way that once Noah and Lanie have their much-needed conversation, they manage to move forward with their relationship the way that it should and they find not only the sweet but also the passion and the oh-so-spicy. I love the certain energy shall we say that Noah has. And Lanie loves Noah's energy and she is there with him all in with it. I have to say that C.B. Noy has done a masterful job in writing this.
In among all the sweet and sappy lovey-dovey parts of the book though it is full of action, and excitement, with found family, new relationships, and cases solved, and it's none stop and so entertaining. I am looking forward to more from this author and I can't wait to see what's next.
