From the author of Liarland, a page-turning, paranormal, young adult horror-romance awaits!
This love triangle is killer. Literally.
At the center is Skyler, a hopeless romantic with a knack for attracting the afterlife. However, nothing haunts Skyler more than the unrequited crush she has on her longtime friend, Caleb. She spends every summer at his family’s eerie lake house and is determined this is the year she finally gets over him. And if he stopped smiling at her like that, she might actually succeed.
When Skyler meets a new houseguest, Mateo, she realizes getting over her crush might not be so challenging after all, especially because he seems to understand her draw to the dead like no other. But as tempting as it may be, fraternizing with Caleb’s friend would be a bad idea, right?
Torn between the two boys, Skyler begins to receive ominous love notes and gruesome tokens of affection. Her mysterious secret admirer’s message is pick wisely. But as Skyler desperately digs up the admirer’s identity, she realizes a far more sinister plot is afoot. If she wants to survive the summer, she better hope her heart doesn’t lead her straight into a horror story.

Can confirm: THIS BOOK may have slowly made me into a spooky girl!!!👻💜🖤 I say this as I literally have goosebumps finishing it🤭 Madison has done it again in this Summerween style book! I loved how it kept me guessing just like Liarland did, but this one had me gasping even more I think from everything that went down! What I want in a thriller is to keep me guessing the entire time even to the last page, and Madison does such an incredible job with that!
Even though it was totally not my typical read, I felt that all around it was a great mix of paranormal, horror, romance, and YA! This is your sign to try something out of your normal style and it just may surprise you leaving you speechless😳🤭
Was in between the stars at the beginning and middle of the book for 4 or 5. Then thinking 4.5. But OMG not a lot of books have me hooked and chills down to the very last word. Every star well deserved right here to my favorite theme park writing queen 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What a fun time this book was! Spooky and cute and had me saying “O shit” pretty often. It’s like if you combined The Summer I Turned Pretty and a Stephen King novel but for the girlies, it’s giving love-sick, girly delusionalness in a spooky way. And to think I randomly found this in a cute bookstore in Winter Garden, FL.
If I could give more than five stars I would. I was absolutely hooked from start to finish. Madison blew this book out of the water and I’m telling everyone to read it!
Death Dates is a summer romance that crashed headfirst into a ghost story—and then decided to add some mystery just for fun.
We’ve got Skyler, our main girl who’s equal parts hopeless romantic and paranormal magnet. Every summer, she stays at her best friend Amalie’s family lake house (which, let’s be honest, sounds like the setting of every summer horror movie ever). She’s been not-so-secretly pining for Amalie’s brother Caleb for years, but this summer she’s determined to move on. Enter Mateo—the mysterious new guy who totally gets her whole “I see dead people” vibe. Cue love triangle, creepy letters, and a secret admirer who might actually want her dead.
Now, I loved the concept—it’s atmospheric, moody, and the perfect mix of romance and eerie summer mystery. But Skyler? Girl. Made. The. Dumbest. Choices. I spent half the book wanting to shake her by the shoulders. I also didn’t see the appeal in either of the boys, and the Quinn family she idolizes? They had all the personality of a plain cracker.
And that ending… whew. It spun me in circles like a carnival ride and dropped me off with no idea what just happened. I reread it twice thinking maybe I missed something—but nope. Still confused.
All that said, Madison Rupp has something here. The writing is engaging, the atmosphere is solid, and I can tell her future books are going to be even better. Fun read, cool idea, chaotic execution, but I’ll absolutely be picking up whatever she writes next even if this one didn’t totally hit the mark for me. 3.5 stars rounded up.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book! After the first few chapters it seemed a little juvenile and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but the second half definitely made up for that. With it being YA I didn’t expect things to get as sinister as it did. It wasn’t predictable at all and I loved that. I also didn’t expect the love triangle to be as twisted as it was and I can’t lie… I ate that up. #TeamMateo 🏕️
Overall Death Dates is fun and easy spooky read. 👻 3.5 stars ⭐️
I cannot express how much I love this book. Each chapter kept me on the edge of my seat and was filled with plot twist after plot twist. I’m DYING for it to become a movie immediately. Madison KILLED it. 10/10 five stars only!!!
Death Dates by @madisonrupp was a great book I enjoyed this. It had spooky, romance, and a lot of WTH because finding out the real reason of why there were so many ghosts there and who was responsible was insane. I gave this four stars.
A story about family, love, betrayal, paranormal, and necromancy.
This book was better than Liar Land. The storyline, characters, and the ending. I highly recommend if you are into young adult paranormal romance books.
