Cassie Stonehaven has always been different. Seeing ghosts her whole life hasn’t exactly made her popular, and she’s long since stopped trying to fit in. So when she takes a summer job at Luna Beach, she expects nothing more than sand, sun, and solitude.
Then she meets Vincent Hunt—dark, enigmatic, and impossibly gorgeous. He watches her with an intensity that sends shivers down her spine, and for the first time, Cassie wonders if her luck is finally changing.
But Vince has a secret, one powerful enough to shake the world to its core.
And falling for him? Well, that might just be the most dangerous thing Cassie has ever done.
I went into this expecting a light paranormal romance, but it surprised me. Cassie’s ability feels woven naturally into the story, not gimmicky, and the tension with Vincent builds in a slow, unsettling way. The chemistry is intense, the secret actually carries weight, and by the end I was fully invested in what this could cost her. A sharp, moody read that blends romance with real danger.
I’m new to fantasy and this was a great way to start. I was riveted to find out what happens with Cassie and what is going on with Vince?! I won’t give any spoilers because you all should read this one, but let’s just say I’m hooked!!
For a first book, this one has real potential to become something special. The characters feel well-rounded and layered, and the chemistry between them is believable rather than rushed.
I especially loved Vince and the conflict simmering beneath the surface — that inner turmoil made him compelling. Adam’s kindness brought a softness to the story, Gem’s energy was vibrant and refreshing, and Cassie’s heart really anchors everything.
Jase stood out to me as well. He’s already a strong character, but you can feel the potential for him to grow into a truly morally grey MMC, which I think would add even more depth to the series.
Overall, this was a strong start — rich in world-building, emotional stakes, and character development. I’m excited to see where it goes next.
