Didn’t like it
I didn’t like the hero at all
They’re still married and the author emphasizes a lot about both of them still wearing their wedding rings but still, why he didn’t try to find his wife?!
A man with that kind of resources, intel and money??? And you never try to find her?
Didn’t like him or his friends for half the book…
He put her in a difficult position and he let her leave…
The only good thing are the sex scenes, the stars are for them

The separation lasts four years, both with OP a couple of times, of course with their wedding rings still on🙄🙄🙄

I wish I could have loved this more but I just couldn't connect with them much less the H. In their time apart they are with other people and I just can't with the sudden "they are the love of my life".

I loved everything about this one. From the way they both were missing a piece of themselves without each other, and the beautiful and steamy way they came back together as husband and wife. The many moments we get of Johnny saying “my wife” in this book were so good every single time.

The story was so easy to get lost in, and It was such a decently spicy read, while also being the sweetest when we got into the easy parts of these two admitting their love and mistakes. Love that part of the story, and how amazing his parents and friends all were the entire time. This friend group is amazing and so entertaining!

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a little longer than I like to read, but I really love this one!!!

Johnny and Winnie are married, four years ago, she had to leave to help her sister. When Winnie answers her phone for her sister she needs to go to her, but Johnny tells his wife that if she leaves don't bother coming back. Four years later, Winnie comes back and asks Johnny for a divorce, but he doesn't want to give her one, he won't sign the papers. Johnny wants to talk to Winnie about their marriage. Winnie leaves the papers for Johnny to sign, but he wants to win her back. Winnie needs Johnny to sign the papers so that she can get custody of her nephew. When Johnny's parents find out that Winnie is staying at a hotel they tell her to get her things and stay with them. Johnny's parents enjoy watching Winnie's nephew and he calls them grandma and grandpa. Johnny finds out that Winnie doesn't want anything in the divorce but he still doesn't want to sign. Winnie needs custody of her nephew since he has some learning disabilities and will need the state to help her pay, she's pinching every penny she can. Winnie takes her nephew to the park and is playing with him when a familiar voice comes up behind her and asks her if he's his. Johnny sees Winnie at the park and stops when he notices a young boy who looks exactly like Winnie. Johnny was headed to his parent's house to talk to them about Winnie divorcing him. When Winnie's nephew, Sebastian asks her if that's his Uncle Johnny, he falls to his knees. Johnny was thinking that Winnie left him for another man, and had a child, but he finds out it's her nephew. Winnie tells Johnny about her sister passing away, that she thought her sister would straighten up after Sebastian was born. Johnny apologies to Winnie telling her she shouldn't have gone through this all by herself. Winnie tells Johnny that his mother and father have kept in touch with her and have gotten to know Sebastian. Johnny and Winnie take Sebastian and head to his parent's house. Johnny has a talk with his father about Winnie. Johnny asks Winnie if his parents can watch Sebastian so that they can go and talk. Johnny and Winnie had to their penthouse apartment, and she notices nothing has changed. Winnie tells Johnny she wants what they had back and she's afraid she's ruined it. Johnny kisses Winnie, he pleasures her, she pleasures him, then they make love. Johnny tells her he loves her and Winnie tells him she loves him. Afterwords Winnie tells Johnny that she should have reached out for help but choose not to. Winnie tells Johnny she was there for all of it with Sebastian and felt her sister couldn't handle a child. Winnie tells Johnny the only way she can get help is through the state, and she's fostering Sebastian and she can't do anything without Johnny, that's why she wanted the divorce or prove they're fit parents. Johnny goes and messages his friends for help, they all want to help wherever they can. Johnny tells Winnie they're staying married and he wants to adopt Sebastian. The following day Johnny heads out to get Winnie and Sebastian everything they need to move in with him. Johnny has the help of his friends and their wives and girlfriends. When Winnie wakes up she reaches for Johnny but he's not there but she finds a note he left. Winnie heads to grab a cup of coffee and breakfast, when she finds Johnny with Sebastian they are in the spare bedroom. Johnny is putting together a bookcase for Sebastian and he has a bed. Winnie can't believe she's slept so long it's after lunch. Johnny tells Winnie that have a wedding to go to this weekend Asher and Lennon Something to Talk About. Johnny tells Winnie they'll head to Georgia tomorrow for an emergency hearing to adopt Sebastian, he's taken care of everything for her. Johnny tells Winnie he's taking a few days off to help her with Sebastian. The following day Johnny, Winnie and Sebastian all fly to Georgia, they collect their things from the apartment and head to the hearing where they get custody of Sebastian. They fly back to Florida where they prepare for Asher and Lennon's wedding. Johnny has a party for them at his club, while Winnie sets everything up. Johnny and Winnie leave the party early, he takes her to Night Moves, a sex club. The club Johnny opened while Winnie was gone. The next day is Asher and Lennon's wedding, Jagger steals a dance with Winnie. Johnny comes and steals Winnie away, while Jagger takes Sebastian to the dessert bar. Winnie and Johnny are trying to get Sebastian on a routine for next week when he starts daycare. Winnie knows that Johnny will do whatever he has to in order to keep her, and she'll do the same. Six weeks later, Sebastian comes home holding a piece of paper. When Johnny asks him what he has Sebastian tells him he's going to be a big brother. Johnny takes Sebastian to find Winnie, he tells her he's got everything he needs.

This angsty, emotional book sharply tugged on my heartstrings, but also left me smiling. There is much to love about this book. Winnie is a strong, courageous and big-hearted heroine who values family connections, loyalty and support above her own personal needs or wants. She put the needs of her sister and her nephew above her own. She couldn’t abandon her addict sister, or her innocent young nephew, even knowing that it would cost her the love of her life, Johnny. She took him at his word and stayed away after making her choice. She made no attempts to ask for his help, to draw him into her sister’s messy life, but she hasn’t been able to stop thinking about him or loving him. The rings he gave her are still on her hand. The urgent situation with her nephew’s custody is the only reason that forces her to intrude on Johnny’s life now.

Johnny hasn’t forgotten Winnie either, nor has he been able to move on with anyone else. His biggest regret is the ultimatum he gave her in a fit of frustration. Like Winnie, he still wears his wedding ring, and has hoped that she would come back to him since the moment she left. Seeing her again, even if it was only to have him sign divorce papers, has restarted his heart and fed his determination to reclaim her. A determined Johnny, in full on possessive and protective alpha mode, is hard to resist, as Winnie finds out. I loved the intense chemistry, the very steamy encounters and his the over-the-top, all-in approach to claiming Winnie and her adorable nephew. His easy rapport with little Seb is swoon-worthy.

The secondary characters make this book even more enjoyable. I liked his group of friends that supported not only Johnny, but Winnie too. His parents also offered their unwavering support to Winnie, something she desperately needed, but would never ask them for given how she left their son. This book makes me appreciate close knit family and friends, as well as the deep abiding love of Johnny and Winnie. They both made mistakes, regretted them and were open to starting anew.

I will happily recommend this book.

There is a group of nine men who grew up together in Whispering Oaks. They are all living back in town. Together, they own Jagged Edge Construction even though Jagger started the business and heads up all projects.
Four years ago, Winnie was married to Johnny Gonzales, who owns the club Undercover Lovers. Her sister Melanie is an addict and called Winnie for help again. Johnny told her that he couldn’t take it anymore and if Winnie left to go clean up another of Melanie’s messes, not to come back. Melanie is Winnie’s only sibling and Winnie wants to believe she will get help, so she left with only some clothes and a few valuables like her car and wedding rings.

Now, four years later, Winne is back in Whispering Oaks to have Johnny sign divorce papers. She has a week to get back to Georgia to finish straightening out things after Melanie died. He is not at the penthouse apartment or the club, so Winnie heads to Johnny’s parent’s house. His mother, Isla, tracked Winnie down after she left. They have talked on and off for the past four years. Isla and Santiago hug her and are happy to see her. Isla asks where Sebastian is and Winnie tells her that he is with a babysitter at the motel. Winnie has less than a week to get everything in order or she will lose Sebastian. They insist that Winnie and Sebastian stay at their house. Santiago tells Winnie that she and Johnny need to talk and at least get closure and that it may take a couple of days.

Johnny is with his best friends at Asher and Lennie’s house when Winnie pulls up. Winnie apologizes for just dropping in and tells Johnny that she just needs him to sign some papers. The papers fall between them and Johnny puts his foot on them. Winnie tells him to call her after he signs the divorce papers and she will pick them up.

These two had major communication problems then and now. I am loving this group of guys and their stories.

Scalding hot second chance romance! Johnny and Winnie have all the chemistry in a read with enough steam it’s billowing from the pages as Winnie comes careening back into Johnny’s life and their small town four years after she left with new baggage in tow and a demand to finally close the book on their life together rolling off her tongue the second she parks her car. Johnny is having none of it though and the heat only builds, his demands and possessiveness only increase, and your heart just melts into a puddle and waves that white flag just like Winnie does when he swoops in and proves not only are they still perfect for each other but the past is the past, family does and should mean more than anything, and whatever she needs, no matter what it takes, she is his and he belongs only to her.
A steamy read that has a healthy dose of everything that makes you love second chance romances. It’s got maxed out spice, found family vibes, an eclectic, fun and supportive friend group, heart breaking mistakes, that it will always only be you thing that just gets you every time, and a whirlwind of confessions and righting wrongs and it just captures your heart. My favorite thing in a second chance is that moment when they see each other and know the love never went away and these two have it in spades, along with a whole lot of lessons learned and a matching desire to figure out how to make it work. It has plenty of super cute moments, with Johnny very successfully going above and beyond to make Winnie’s life better and easier, I loved that they’ve grown enough in their time apart that while some things feel the exact same there are meaningful little differences that make this time around exactly how it was always meant to be. Another great Tory Baker read that gives you a heck of a story along with all that smut crack.

"Possessing Her" is the second book in the Undercover Lovers series, and let me tell you, it's a heartfelt journey! After a tough heartbreak, Winnie heads off to take care of her sister Melanie, who needs help with her addiction once again. Meanwhile, Johnny watches his wife walk out the door without chasing after her—a tough situation for anyone. Fast forward four years, and Winnie is back, needing Johnny to sign some papers. But this time, Johnny isn’t going to let Winnie slip away without putting up a fight!

When Johnny spots Winnie at the park with the adorable Sebastian—seriously, he’s the cutest four-year-old ever—he learns the whole emotional story. To his surprise, he discovers they’ve both kept their wedding rings on all this time, proving that their love never really faded. They were always meant to be together, and Johnny is determined to make up for all the lost time because their connection is as strong as ever!

First things first, though! Johnny sends a quick text to his fantastic group of friends to rally together and help Winnie and Sebastian create the little family they’re meant to be. It’s all about helping Winnie stress less and enjoying their time together.

This instalove story is not just well-written; it’s also filled with engaging characters, fast-paced action, and just the right amount of drama and spice to keep you hooked from start to finish. The found family aspect among all the characters adds a special touch, keeping you excited to see who will find their happily ever after next. I can’t wait to read more!

This book had me at the prologue, the fire started, and it just burned hotter and hotter as the chapters went by one after another. Winnie and Johnny are married but separated due to Winnie’s drug addicted sister whom she feels obligated to take care of. Winnie leaves to do so feeling she has no other answer but realizes it may come at the cost of her marriage.
Johnny’s reaction is somewhat typical of a male, thinking it’s her sister’s problem not hers so he loses his exceptional wife because he is stubborn and at the time short sighted. Being a guy I’m not sure I’d have done 4 years without my better half, I’d have tracked her down and figured out what was going on, how I could help, profusely apologize for my horrific behavior and done anything to get my wife back. Luckily for him she came back and before he signed any paperwork, he had to show her he still wanted her. That she was the soul of him and the glue that kept him together.

The feelings at times in this book made me shed a few tears as Johnny realized he had almost lost his better or in this case his only other half. Sometimes it’s better to separate but not in this case. The love was there just some hurt, and misunderstanding covered it up. I love this series and can’t wait for the next one. Just be forewarned once I started the book, I didn’t set it down till I finished it. Yes, it’s that good.

This is book two in the author’s new Undercover Lovers series featuring a group of guys who have been best friends since early childhood and are still extremely close as well as business partners.

I hate to say it but this was my least favorite book by this author. It had plenty of steam if that’s what you’re looking for but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I admit, it was my fault that I didn’t read the description very closely of what I could expect to find—I just saw the author’s name and that it was loosely connected with the Rowdy Johnson Brothers series (which I absolutely LOVED!!) and grabbed it. I didn’t realize it contained a marriage in trouble, that’s not what I want to read about in a romance. It included a prolonged separation with neither being particularly faithful and that’s definitely not what I expected. Maybe it’s more realistic than the instalove romances that I enjoy so much but it just wasn’t for me. 3.75 stars!

When I say I devoured this book..I mean it.
Johnny showed that even when h made mistakes, he owned them and he adores Winnie. Winnie had to make some hard choices and she left town. She was trying to help her sister..but her sister was fighting a disease that a lot of people lose the battle. Drug addiction isn't simple.
When Winnie finally came home after 4 years, she was asking Johnny for a divorce. Can he show her they are meant to be together forever? Will he help her fight to get custody of her nephew Sebastian? Will they forgive each other for past mistakes?
Johnny was the perfect main male character. He loves Winnie and he's even possessive of her. He's not giving up!
Winnie has been through h3ll and at one point, she had to chose between Johnny and her sister. She struggled and didn't think Johnny would forgive her. She's so strong and didn't hesitate to take Sebastian and take care of him. Will they become a family?
Sebastian was so cute! Speaking Spanish like he did was adorable.

This book had me in an emotional bottle of mush the entire time. This book touches home to me and WOW!, it just blew me away. Even after such hardships, the main characters were able to find forever again with their new addition. They just both had to separate for a second to find themselves and come back together better and stronger together.

Winnie has a family member that is going through some hardships and Johnny tells her if she leaves again not to come back. Fast forward four years later, Winnie shows up and asks for a divorce. Each of them still have feelings for each other but they are too scared and damaged to lay it all out in the open once they meet again for the first time. Their talks are meaningful, their touch is steamy. Johnny is a take charge, it’s my way or nothing kinda highway and dang it, I’m here for it. Their best friends are amazing, his parents are the best and little Seb will just melt your heart.

What an emotional ride

Possessing Her is the second book in the Undercover Lovers series. I fell in love with this book from literally the first page and was enamoured of it until the last page. This is a second chance romance between still married couple Winnie and Johnny Gonzales. Four years ago she walked out the door to try and help her drug addicted sister and Johnny did not follow her. For Winnie this is her sister and she can not turn her back on her when she is ready to make a change finally, even if it may cost her everything. Johnny is stubborn like a mule and basically makes Winnie make a choice instead of being understanding and having some compassion. It is four years later when Winnie comes back into Johnny's life but not for the reason he would have liked. Instead of staying she is planning on leaving and wants a divorce. Will he let her walk away from him again or will he fight for her this time, and prove he is worth sticking around for.

When Winnie left her husband Johnny it wasn’t because she didn’t love him but felt she needed to be there for her sister. She cut off all contact with him and has only come back to ensure he signs divorce papers so that she can adopt her nephew but the feelings they have from each other are far from over.

Johnny isn’t sure why Winnie is back and so determined to divorce him, but he isn’t going to give her up without a fight. His biggest regret is letting Winnie walk out of his life and once he learns what she has been through he recruits his friends and family to set things right.

The love that Winnie and Johnny share hasn’t diminished over time and have always belonged together but first they take us on an emotional ride as they must deal with the pain from the past as well as the challenges in the present.

I really enjoyed this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and I loved watching Johnny and Winnie get their second chance and find their way back together. They were married and happy but in the heat of the moment Johnny gave an ultimatum regarding Winnie's drug addict sister and it caused their issue and separation. Winnie left to help her sister and Johnny hasn't seen her since. Now years later, she is back and handing him divorce papers. He is ready for his second chance and has realized the major part he played and is not signing the papers. He wants to know what is going on and is ready to claim his wife again. I enjoyed seeing these characters get their second chance and loved Seb. This story flowed well and was easy to read. It also had some hot spicy bits as well as these two reconnected and Johnny definitely have some dominant tendencies and there's a little kink thrown in as well. Again, a great read and excited for what's coming next in the series.

Having met Johnnie in Something to talk about ( book1, Asher and Lennon) we found out he was married but she left him four years ago. Now years later Winnie is back and she wants a divorce! Johnnie has never got over her or the fact she chose her sister over him. This is a second chance love story that was steamy, heartbreaking, full of love, sacrifices and an unexpected addition of Sebastian, the cutest little boy. When Johnnie learns the truth he’s never going to let her go and he shows her on all ways possible that she’s his esposa for ever. Loved Winnie, she was so strong to take on her sisters troubles and what it took for her to give up her own happiness to take on someone’s responsibility and Johnnie? Omg he was a wonderful man. Great friendships, and good to catch up with past friends. Yippee Asher and Lennon got married!Tysen is next, what’s in store for our pilot?

Johnny and Winnie are husband and wife but they have not seen each other or talked to each other in 4 yrs. They had a fight she left and he let her go. Who knew it would take this long to begin the conversation on what happened, where has she been and who is the little boy named Sebastian she has with her? This is a very original, unique and crazy story. Johnny and Winnie certainly seem to love each other, but again we are talking 4 yrs without a word. No searching, calling, letters - nothing. These two characters are meant to be together, but will it happen? It’s a steamy, hot, passionate, loving relationship. And when you have a sweetheart like little Sebastian to help bring the hugs and love, how could it not happen!.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between Johnny and Winnie. They are married, but Winnie left four years ago to help her addicted sister once again. Johnny told her if she left, not to come back. Now Winnie is back to get a divorce in order to adopt her nephew. Winnie still loves Johnny, but she knows she ruined everything when she went to help her sister. Johnny tried to move on from Winnie but he couldn't, he still loves her and when she returns, he knows he has another chance to win her back. Only he wasn't expecting her to have a child with her. Bow Johnny has to decide if he can raise her nephew with Winnie and start again. I loved a second chance romance between two people who really loved each other. they both knew what they lost and were willing to fight to get it back. This was a great story that was about true love.

What a truly wonderful story! Winnie and Johnny both made mistakes four years ago but Winnie really felt the need to go take care of her sister. Now she’s back with a cute little nephew whom she is trying to adopt. She needs Johnny to do something for her though and he decides that there’s no way he’s letting her go again! Even after all this time they both still wear their wedding bands which is just the sweetest! These two totally belong together! Add in Seb and they are just the sweetest family! I love this group so much! They’re all so willing to be there for each other no matter what and they love hard! Such an enjoyable story and I highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

Johnny and Winnie were madly in love but her addict of a sister put a wedge between them. One final argument ended in an ultimatum and then four years apart. Winnie returned to get their divorce finalized so she could get custody of her nephew. Johnny has regretted that fight for the longest time but he still refused to do anything about it. I love that he finally gets his butt in gear and pursues her to give them the life they deserve. They are so good for each other and I love that they have finally rekindled their relationship and got the HEA they deserved. Plus her nephew Sebastian totally steals the show and the bond with the three of them is amazing!!

I liked that this one was different…

Four years ago, with a single phone call, things that were great between married couple Winnie and Johnny, suddenly became not great. As in, Johnny have Winnie an ultimatum, answer the call from her mess sister and never come back. Winner answered the call. She was in a rock and a hard place with no good choices. Four years later, she needs a divorce in order to keep her nephew.

In those four years apart, they both were not monks, though they were still legally married. I thought Johnny was pretty immature with both his ultimatum and freezing her out. He really needed to grovel. Which he didn’t do. But I liked that they had to get back to good after being fractured.

This is book number 2 of the Undercover Lovers series and focuses on Johnny and Winnie. Johnny and Winnie are soulmates who unfortunately broke temporarily due to Winnie’s family loyalty, obligation, and the ultimatum Johnny tossed at Winnie. They love each other fiercely, even after the years they’ve spent apart. When Winnie comes back to town with divorce papers for Johnny to sign, he refuses to give up on them and their relationship. Their love never faded and now that Winnie is back in his orbit he is determined to win back his wife and bring them back together once and for all. Johnny is possessive, determined, and completely all in. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

This is an extremely difficult read. I found it kind of triggering. I've been in recovery for 15 years. And I lost my brother to addiction. Johnny and Winnie we're good until they weren't. She receives another late night phone call from her sister claiming that she needed help that she was ready to get clean. He was tired of her bending over backwards and hurting herself to try and help her sister when nothing ever changed so he gave her an ultimatum that she left not to come back. And that's exactly what she did. Fast forward 4 years and she comes back with divorce papers. By this time he realized that he messed up and is willing to do what it takes to repair their marriage.

Tory is smashing the undercover lovers series out of the park.
While this one hurt from the get go (marriage in trouble), I'm glad Johnny and Winnie got this story.
The second chance, high heat, pure love, romance was just what I needed to read tonight and I'm so glad I did.
I love that this series has got all it's characters interlinking, I'm looking forward to the future releases.
Johnny and Winnie were just proof that even those made for each other are the ones causing the most pain to one another.

If you like second chance romances, a couple who have been estranged for years who have the second chance to mend their relationship and make it stronger for the future you will enjoy Johnny and Winnie’s story.

He gave her an ultimatum and she left him with just her personal possessions. She became a ghost and when he finally realized how stupid he was, he couldn’t find a way to bring her home.

Very intense, emotional and healing. My heart ached for all that Winnie went through, but the love Johnny showers on her made me melt. Very well written, small town feel, and characters that seem larger than life.

Tory as always exceeds my expectations with this story. When I saw that there would be separation I thought that my heart could not bear to read something like that. But Johnny and Winnie were soul mates, their happiness would only be being together, and sadly the lack of understanding led them to be apart, but that time was not lost, love was there and when they met again, What was between them was so strong that they decided to choose to be happy and finally end up forming that happy family they should be from the beginning. I loved Johnnie’s parents, read more about that wonderful group of friends and know more about the Johnsons.

A spicy addition to the series.

A spicy romance story! Book 2 in the Undercover Lovers series gives Johnny and Winnie a chance to get back together for a second chance. A marriage that seems to be all that, breaks apart as he gives her an ultimatum that she doesn’t agree too. Fast forward to the present and she finds herself back in the town and the man that she loves. Will they be able to work out and forgive to find their HEA? Five years later she is back, she brought with her divorce papers, there is no way he is going to let her go again. She has a little boy, is it ours? He quickly learns it is her sister Melanie's little boy and she is gone. Can they start anew or will he let her go again?

There is no way Johnny is going to let her go again, she just has to learn to accept it.
