Faking It with the Billionaire Rock Star: A Single Dad Small Town Romance

Rate this book
Everwood’s sweetheart, Rosie Donovan is in serious trouble, and it’s all Atticus Field’s fault.

Some nosy festival-goer posted a very misleading picture of Atticus and me, and now the school board is clutching its pearls. The whole town thinks I’m the latest fling for my best friend’s brother who just happens to be a hot, older, world-famous, scandal-ridden, billionaire rock star.

Meanwhile, Atticus needs to convince the world he is stable enough to raise his newly discovered son by proving he is not just a reckless, brooding musician. He needs to clean up his image and fast.

Before I know what’s happening, I’ve agreed to fake date the very man who caused the mess.

But Fake dating Atticus Field should come with hazard pay.

First, there’s the height situation. The man is huge. I practically need a ladder just to fake kiss him.

Then there’s his voice; a low sexy growl that is completely inappropriate for public consumption.

Atticus Field has always been larger than life. Tall, devastatingly handsome, with those grey-blue eyes that see straight through me.

Add in his new role as a clueless but ridiculously hot dad, and I’m one poorly timed inhale away from passing out.

This was supposed to be a simple PR stunt, but there’s nothing simple about it when he whispers things in my ear that make my knees weak.

But now the town thinks we’re in love.

And the scariest part? I’m starting to think they might be right.

Dating a rock star is all fun and games, until you forget you’re pretending.

On the whole, I liked the storyline. But, this is the third book in the rockstar thrope I’ve read where the issues with the MMC is because of how his father treated him when he was growing up. Where was his mother is all of this? Plus this is the second or third rockstar book where the main character is named Atticus.

I didn’t realize this was the last book in a series and, unfortunately, I hadn’t read the previous books. While the author does have, as secondary characters, the characters from the previous books, it was basically assumed that the reader was already familiar with their background stories.

Some of the issues I had with the story:

1) This is from Atticus where he describes his actions: “I shrug off my jacket revealing the tattoos that adorn my muscles arms.”
What guy in the real world would EVER describe his tattoos that “adorn his muscular arms”. This one of the most ridiculous sentences I’ve ever read in a book.

2) The author makes a big deal about the MFC, Rosie, wearing eye glasses in the beginning of the story and then there’s almost no mention of them later in the story especially during any intimate scenes.

3) The seasons change disjointedly with no clear transition. For example, Rosie is caught in a major storm with the possibility of snow when she visits Atticus’s home. Then, a page or two later, a character is standing at a grill while someone else is mowing the lawn. Afterwards, there’s a chill in the air. So, are we in winter, spring, summer or fall? SMH

4). Atticus is supposed to be a big rockstar but where is his band? There’s a brief introduction of them when he’s on tour but then he needs to engage studio musicians when he’s having a fund raising concert. That made no sense.

5) I read the ebook and am always interested in the book’s covers. It’s interesting that this book has 2 covers: one with both a female and bearded male models on it and another with a clean shaven different male model.

6) It almost seems that the MMC was made older (36) to allow for him to have a teenage son. It would have been better if the MFC was older too instead of just 25.

Great book. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was romance. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Romance between them was sweet and captivating of emotions and passion.
I definitely recommend this book and you won be disappointed. I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones
