In My Backyard is a good book to use to help younger students learn to solve problems. The main character had a problem, and throughout the story he finds a solution to his problem. This book could also help students that struggle with plot sequence. The plot is easy to follow and predictable for most students.
A little boy finds a frog and asks his family if he can keep it. He decides to keep it outside in his dog‘s house. Rover is not happy about that at first, but when they work together, everyone is happy. This is a sweet rhyming story with wonderful illustrations.
