I just completed the reading of People First, Mission Always, and I am very encouraged and challenged. I am a journeyman licensed electrician and for the last 9 months I’ve been blessed to be a foreman within my company.
This book has helped me see many of the reasons why I’ve seen success this past year, and more importantly, I can clearly see areas that will help me improve as a leader to the people under my supervision.
My dad raised all of his children to value a good work ethic, character, and integrity. He told us that “character is who you are when people see you, but integrity is who you are when no one is watching, and both must be above reproach!”
I now have a better understanding of the importance of clear goal setting and clear communication of those goals to encourage the people under my supervision to excel and be confident in their work.
I’ll likely reference this book throughout my career.
