To support her struggling family, Amish receptionist Mary Troyer would do anything…even try to get along with her grumpy boss, Englisch veterinarian Elijah Zook. When they’re suddenly forced to work more closely together, Mary begins to see him in a new light and slowly warms toward him. Elijah can’t help but be drawn to Mary’s kindness, though he knows he should keep his distance since she reminds him of the life he was forced to leave behind. When Mary learns of Elijah’s painful past, she must help him open his heart…or risk losing him for good.
From Love Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.
Let me say that I typically enjoy books by author Rebecca Kertz. My low rating is mainly due to poor editing by Love Inspired. Several sentences throughout the book had words missing.
Another frustration was a story about a dog brought to the vet. He was going to do x-rays and ultrasound on the dog, hoping not to have to do surgery. And we hear nothing more until the next chapter when the dog is being picked up by its owner. What happened??? Kertz forgets to tell us. A good editor would have caught that and tied it up.
The writing seemed disjointed and just not up to Kertz's usual good writing. I just wasn't able to finish it. But again, I typically enjoy her books so will the next one a shot.
