The Trojan War is deadlocked. Eight years have passed since Agamemnon, High King of Mycenae, beached his armada on the Trojan shores. But now Prince Hektor has devised a new strategy to break the to seek an alliance with the Great King of the Hittites, the regional superpower. The journey, however, through the Taurus Mountains to the Great King’s capital of Hattusa is long and dangerous. Hektor asks Troy’s greatest ally, Sarpedon King of Lykia, to undertake this dangerous mission as the only person with any chance of success. Sarpedon leaves his son, Adrestos, behind. Adrestos is in love with Anteia, the sister of Hektor’s wife Andromache, but they have quarreled. Before they can reconcile Adrestos is taken captive, during which he makes a discovery which could alter the course of the war if only he can escape. This is a novel of adventure and heroism, camaraderie, palace intrigue and love set at the very dawn of recorded history.

Henry C. G. Cropsey is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, CT (1982) with a major in History. He attended the University of Connecticut School of Law (Cum Laude 1986) and has practiced law in western Massachusetts for over twenty five years. He is the father of three sons and lives in Longmeadow, Massachusetts with his wife Melinda. Henry has enjoyed a life long fascination with ancient history. He is an avid reader of historical fiction and his other interests include hiking and playing the bagpipes.

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

A group is sent from Troy to find help against the Achaens. Well, we know how the story ends, but the story is in the journey. The long time ally the Trojans thinks they have has just died, and his sons are in a civil war. Further complications ensue.

Not bad, really.
