This book collect the end of Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz’s run on Amazing, which is one of my favourites, despite never quite living up to the Roger Stern/John Romita, Jr. run that preceded it.
Unfortunately, it also collects the five-part Gang War story, which has filler written all over it and is pretty awful. The only notable thing about it is that it features Erik Larsen’s first Spidey work in one issue.
COLLECTING: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1963) #279-288 & ANNUAL (1964) #20 and material from MARVEL TALES (1966) #198.
279-281 ★★★★ (Also collected in Spiderman vs Silver Sable) More of Flash and Hobgoblin. Silver Sable hires Spidey to help capture Jack O'Lantern.
282 - ★★★★ Jameson hires X-Factor to capture Spidey who is suffering from a concussion.
283 - ★★★★ Absorbing man and Titania. Flash still on the run.
284-288 - ★★★★ 5 part Gang War. Hammerhead, the Rose, the Arranger are all fighting. Punisher makes an appearance, as does Daredevil. Spidey loses to each of them.
