Read some of it as a part of the English composition course. About half of the book states the most obvious things. The other half is cryptic and basically useless IMHO.
BTW, the name does not fit this book at all. it's not about how to read more or better. It's mostly about how to analyze academic texts and write those texts with lots of examples. It also is frustrating how many political texts were used in my course (and therefore cherry picked from this book for the students to read). I hate politics and would much prefer to pretend it doesn't exist.
