༘⋆✿ Accidental pregnancy, secret child, love at fight sight... A wholesome, low on angst romance that you need in your life! ༘⋆✿
I saw this book in my feed a bit ago and by then it hadn't come out yet, so I put it on my wishlist and waited. The book just released and, between books, I decided to pick it up and see if it was everything I wanted and needed in my life. I love the accidental pregnancy trope, you all know this. I'm a bit nervous when it comes to the secret child trope, but I wanted to try and read it either way.
The Best Bad Decision is a slow-burn accidental pregnancy romance between a pilot and a flight attendant who meet in Singapore during New Year's. They have a one-night stand and the heroine, Amie, left the next morning, before Cam woke up. You then are skipped to four years later and you find out that Amie has had a kid after that one-night stand and Cam doesn't know. They never exchanged last names or even a phone number, so it was impossible for her to contact him.
I loved that the accidental pregnancy/secret child reveal was very early in the story! She tells Cam right away after bumping into him again (in the first few chapters) and they start co-parenting soon after. The big problem in the story, the main conflict I mean, is that both of them travel a lot because of their jobs and also because they don't really live in the same country. Amie lives in the UK while Cam lives in the US. So, they don't see each other for the better part of the novel. You'll see them do FaceTime or text more than meeting in real life.
I think I would have loved getting more meetings between them in real life. I think it was missing that type of intimacy and getting to know each other also physically, you know what I mean? Not meaning sex, but more of like spending a lot of time together in real life I feel like it's different than talking to someone through a phone, I don't know. I wanted more of that and needed to see how life was if they decided to start a relationship, especially because they have a child together. But overall, I didn't mind it a lot and I still enjoyed the book!
Cam was so down bad for Amie and you don't question that EVER. I always love a hero who is obsessed, pathetically in love with the heroine. For me, that's already a 5/5. Another conflict is that they are idiots in love, because neither of them think the other likes them back so THEY DON'T SAY ANYTHING. They think they are just co-parenting and friends at most, but it's obvious they're both feeling so much more and they're scared to say anything about it. This is a SLOW BURN, yall. It takes a while for them to kiss again and more to even say "I love you". This story is more like them finding the way to be together when jobs and lives don't make it easier.
The Cam/Maisy scenes are adorable. He loves her with his whole heart since the day he found out about her. Oh, that's his girl!!! 🧸🎀 The love he has for Maisy but also for Amie is so present in the novel, it's present in his eyes, in his words. I'm so happy they found their way back to each other and that they have their little family now.
