I am the author of Rancour and Pyre (now out of print) with Simply Read Books, Flying Feet with Orca Book Publishers, and Children of Ruin with Iron Mask Press (formerly Rise of the One-Eyed King).

My next book, A Spartan at Sea, (a sequel to The Three Spartans, Crwth 2019) will be published by Crwth Press for middle grade readers, Spring, 2021.

I have written book reviews for the Canadian Children’s Book News and have taught countless workshops for schools, school divisions, libraries, University of British Columbia, BCLA, BCTELA, Writer’s Union, BC Writer’s Federation, Canadian Authors Association, Surrey International Writers Conference, BC Raise a Reader, and many after school programs. From 2006 – 2009 I was the president of CWILL BC.

Most of my time is spent writing, playing Dungeons and Dragons, or practicing the ukulele.

after I finished rancour and found there was another story my heart stopped with excitement. I went and got the novel and read cover to cover. again, a tale of twists, turns, immortality, teenage humor, and horror all woven through. I still re-read this book and rancour, I can never get enough. I fall in love every time I pick it up and fall into their world. these stories are why I write, and why I read.

After years of being so in love with Rancor it was wonderful to read a continuation into that extraordinary adventure! McCann created this beautiful and emotional world filled with immortal creatures, feuds that make you think about how life is far from black and white, and characters that stick with you. If you read Rancor I highly recommend you give Pyre a read. It felt like coming home to a town that I had so vividly imagined time and time again, so much so, that I actually found myself forgetting that this was a different timeline of events! Once again I find myself saddened to have to leave this little world and the tiny town of Minitaw but I look forward to seeing more from this author.
