Rate this book
Sammy Baker’s green thumb just unearthed a deadly secret…

Sammy’s sourdough bread is legendary in Sunny Cove, but even a star baker dreams of fresh-from-the-garden goodness. But when her chosen garden guru, the cantankerous Leon O’Leary, is found pushing up daisies beneath his beloved tomato vines, Sammy's peaceful plot takes a sinister turn.

Suddenly, Sammy’s up to her elbows in potting soil and a puzzling murder. Was it the rival landscaper with a score to settle? The organic gardening sage with a suspiciously pristine trowel? Or could the killer be lurking closer to home, hidden among the friendly faces at the Sunny Cove Farmer’s Market?

With the help of the radical grandma posse and a dash of romance with the handsome sheriff, Sammy digs deep to unearth the truth. But in a town where everyone’s hiding something, uncovering the roots of this murder might just get her buried…

Settle in for a heartwarming cozy mystery where organic secrets and deadly lies grow wild, and the only thing more dangerous than the killer might be Sammy's amateur sleuthing skills...

This is a story about heirloom seeds and raising crops without chemicals. It can be done, but is often more expensive in the long run. I would think with the right research, one can put together a great garden. The characters are endearing, the plot is easily followed, and the premise is finding out who killed the grumpy gardener and why. Along the way the main character's garden is built on raised beds and she is also helping out people who needed it as bad as she wanted her garden. I most definitely recommend this type of story that reveals and removes the stigmata we as humans put on people who lost their homes.
