Little Author

Rate this book

Roux Pattel was locked away for life. The Maestro. Silent, deadly, infamous. But years behind bars had made him fade into the shadows. I took his story and twisted it into my dark, seductive fiction. My books made me rich, adored, and beloved. I never imagined my muse would ever walk free. But now he’s out. And the depraved sin I wrote for just my own pages feels too real. If he finds me, if he knows what I have done… He will make my fiction bleed into my own reality.

I’m free. Free to tie up loose ends, and start anew my beautiful chorus line of kills… but now the shadows I tried to hide behind have been stripped away. She took my life and turned it into a watered-down fantasy. Made me into some soft, caring book boyfriend for the mindless masses. She made me soft, easier to swallow. But the man she wrote isn’t me. Not the published ones at least. She has every truth of my life on her pages. My pain. My past. My future. And now… I’m here to make my Little Author’s dark fantasies come alive. Then I’ll be the one to end her story. And this time, it won’t be fictional.

"Say your mine little author"
🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

Short, spicy and fueled by obsession. When I say this book is good I mean it is so freaking good!!!

When I read the dedication I could already tell I was going to have it bad for this villain but boy I was so unprepared for just how much I loved his depravity!

The storyline, the horror/dark elements, the smut...all chefs kiss. My only complaint was I wish it was longer. I wanted more... I'm a greedy (w)hore for this book and didn't want it to end!!!

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

S.K. Pryntz never disappoints! I devoured Little Author in one sitting, completely and utterly consumed it. The pacing is razor-sharp, the plot is strong, and the story is unforgettable.

Roux is the villain you hate to love but can’t resist, and he’s finally met his match in Elodie, a dark romance author lying to herself about just how deep her obsession with Roux runs. The story is pure fire and destruction, pulling you into a wicked dance of murder, desire, and obsession.

Little Author is a wild ride that will keep you on your toes, glancing over your shoulder, and begging for more...

What an amazing ride! I devoured this in one sitting and left no crumbs.
I absolutely loved the storyline, and I’m pretty sure this was the first time I’ve read something with this concept — and I am definitely here for it.

I don’t think I’d change a thing, it was the perfect balance of dark and twisted. It felt fresh and different, and I loved watching Elodie grow into her dark-angel era.

Make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving into this novella.

The story follows Elodie, an author who writes about a man named Roux—someone she’s only seen in her dreams. But things take a dark turn when the events she writes about, including ones she never even published, start coming to life. Now Roux, her mysterious dream man, seems to be out—and possibly coming for her.

In her books, Elodie changes his name to Rue, but it’s clear the story is about her obsession with him. Back when Roux was locked away, Elodie was just a student sitting in on therapy sessions, hidden in the background while shadowing an underpaid psychologist. She thought she was observing Roux, but it turns out he was watching her too—and he never forgot.

I really enjoyed the cat-and-mouse tension between them and how Elodie ultimately took control of her own story. This is a gripping novella that had me hooked from start to finish.

another great one by SK. Elodie is an author who follows a serial killer and writes his story. He starts following her. there's a little back and forth secret play happening. Melodies just want to be seen, and he happens to be the one who sees her.

It’s quick one sitting read, that draws you in to Elodie’s story.

“𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.”

As a writer her research took her to gaining entry to a prison specifically to that of a ser!al k!ller. She utilises this to write her dark romance books integrating his life into her own fantasies to produce her spicy dark romance.. What she didn’t expect is him being exonerated 😱 Quite by luck he steals a copy of her book, she is drawn into his world and he in turn wants to know more about her. What follows is a clash of wills and determination. Not giving you anymore 🤣

A lovely storyline that teeters on the realms of reality vs fiction.

Damn no foreplay you dive into the Story and that’s on it’s best way. It catches you with the first words. And you stuck to the Story that you can’t stop. Yeah I know some will hate it but give it a try, because it’s written so well and good. The angsty feeling in some scenes get you, it’s like this little tickle inthe back of your neck. And the little twists damn. It’s a Novelle that catches you with the First lines and you dive so deep that you can’t stop Reading

What happens when a dark romance author's fantasies come true?
Elodie might have a slight obsession with Roux and his activities. She changes details but her stories are his life, but he doesn't know it. Until he's released. Now he wants her and to make all her written fantasies come true.

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Plot: 3/5
I would NEVER consider this a dark romance. Call it whatever you want — obsession-horror, psychological thriller — but NOT dark romance. And honestly, I don't think it was ever supposed to be romantic in any way. It dives straight into some of the deepest, most questionable human urges (hence it is taboo and very deranged), but it genuinely does an insanely good job at depicting such emotions. It felt way too real. Uncomfortably real. The kind of real that makes you wonder if people like this actually exist out there.
Even without the so-called "smut", the plot itself holds up pretty well for a novella. It has some key points: a genuinely dangerous MMC who makes your skin crawl, a clever but unhinged FMC, believable events, murders, investigations, obsession, frustration, and an overwhelmingly grim atmosphere tying it all together into one of the best horrors of its kind🖤
Three stars, because I was a bit disappointed that the story didn’t lean into what I thought it was building toward — A bit more clarity or depth there would’ve added so much to the story. And I understand that the plot is supposed to be corrupt and maybe not fully real, as it's based on the POVs of two mentally scarred characters, but I guess some more background info would've been nice🫣

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Characters: 4/5
Elodie... oh Elodie... You feel everything Elodie feels — the fear, the tension, the uncertainty, the shame simmering under her skin, constantly clashing with her relentless, nearly feral cravings she couldn't for the life of her appease. She is absolutely mental, but the book writes her with such raw, degraded humanity and brokenness that you're like wait, maybe someone out there really could feel these things💔
And then there’s Roux, the type of character who shouldn't feel real (but does!). He carries this unsettling blend of elegance and decay, a presence so cold and inevitable, the kind that seeps under your skin before you even notice😭 He moves like a ghost (unseen, unfelt), unfathomably composed, and that quiet stillness is what makes him so terrifying. This impressed me the most about his character. His madness is precise, simmering beneath the surface like a blade waiting to cut. The book paints him with such soft menace, that you start believing people like him could be lurking in quiet old houses behind heavy burgundy curtains. You feel his obsession for her and his warped tenderness in every scene, and somehow it feels both horrifying and heartbreakingly human at some extreme, of course, but not "nonhuman" level.
The only reason I subtracted 1 point is that I wish we understood both of their motivations better. The book starts so suddenly, and we’re expected to accept that The characters were brilliantly written, but I would've loved to understand them better, if you catch my drift.🖤

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Writing: 5/5
I have to say I fell in love wirh Pryntz's writing. I was fascinated by the extremely immersive depictions, astonishing metaphors and comparisons that absorb you into the story and refuse to let you go🫠 I often found my mind melting at how beautifully eerie and at the same time short and simple but overflowing with emotion everything was laid on paper. Every chapter feels intentionally crafted like a little vignette meant to gently push the story forward while still wrapping you in the gothic atmosphere. Sometimes it was a mere gesture or line that tied the entire scene together - and honestly? i felt like the ending of every chapter could've been the ending of a whole with the way those cliffhangers hit😭

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Setting: 5/5
I feel like the setting and atmosphere were exactly what Haunting Adeline tried to aim for but didn't really deliver (it's just my take, I appreciate both authors). Everything is sketched with so much precision to the point where every single scene and every single chapter pushes the obsession, dread and tension further. Sometimes it genuinely feels like you are part of the book — an observer in the distance, a third-party who cannot step out. There isn't a single unnecessary scene or moment that's too dragged out, hence I really enjoyed it a lot.

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Pacing: 5/5
Extremely short chapters (3-4 pages long), favouring a fast, gripping pace that will have you turning page after page in no time (I found myself reading till 4am, please-😭). There is enough action to keep you hooked, but it's narrated in such a calm, dreading way that it constantly feels like both the calm before the storm and the eye of the storm at the same time🫠

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Ending: 3/5

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 Enjoyment: 4/5
Four stars, as there were some moments where everything unfolded too fast and lost me along the way. I had to go back and reread some paragraphs, as there was just so much happening at the same time that I couldn't focus too well, but that's purely personal (just like this whole review) and my own skill issue🤪 Otherwise, a GREAT read; already recommended it to a taboo book fan friend lol🖤

◇ intimate, haunting, disturbingly believable.
◇ dark and twisted, check the trigger warnings.

I don’t know what’s going on with me lately. Why does this have so many positive reviews? This book didn’t make sense half the damn time. She conned her way into the prison to watch his therapy sessions but didn’t know what he looked like when he was standing right in front of her? She literally pined and obsessed after him and then immediately called the police when she finally got his attention? The hell?

Like this plot had SO much potential it physically hurts me that it didn’t live up to it.

After ARC reading 'Borrowed' by S.K. Pryntz and rating it 5+ stars, I was super excited to also ARC read 'Little Author'. However, I'm really sad to say that this missed the mark for me.

I found the writing style to be slightly more simplistic and less poetic than her previous work, which was, while disappointing, not a deal breaker. The plot, which explores an obsessed author who bases her work on a real-life killer, intrigued me and pulled me in, leaving me curious about where things were going to go. Unfortunately, my final verdict is that the execution of these ideas fell short of what could have been achieved.

Firstly, the book is set in London, yet still includes some Americanisms, like wedgies and frat boys. The British slang was also shoehorned in and felt really awkward and unnatural. However, the author did make a statement about this to her ARC readers and said she would do more research and a rewrite, so maybe this has been reflected in the final copy.

Secondly, there were numerous plot holes, and it felt like situations were created solely to make certain scenes take place rather than being based on any sense of reality. For example, crime scenes being completely empty and accessible to the public mere hours after a murder has taken place. Not recognising someone whom you had been fantasising about in your head for years and had met several times before, with the flimsy and unbelievable excuse of . Lastly, we saw a civilian having access to .

Thirdly, conversations, interactions, and relationships between characters felt distinctly off. Random police officers were being unprofessional and overstepping their bounds from the get-go, like when . Another example is the conversation between the FMC and the psychiatrist, which read very strangely to me and went from 0-100 real fast. Her interactions with Jules were also beyond weird, where . Finally, near the end, where Like, obviously that wouldn’t be the sort of thing ITV news and the BBC would talk about??? These things really left me struggling to stay immersed because, in my mind, none of them seemed feasible or led me to believe these characters were real.

I really, really wanted to like this. The concept was definitely there, and I think the author had a really strong idea, but I feel like it needs a lot more work to make it as good as it can be.

Would I read again? No.
Would I recommend it? No, but I would recommend other works by this author.
My star rating: ★★★
Note: I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My unhinged book rating system:
★★★★★+ fucking fantastic, give me ten more like it. Bury me with it. First thing I'd save if my house was on fire.
★★★★★ sheeesh this shit was good. Would definitely buy a special edition of it for my trophy shelf and rant about it to my book bestie.
★★★★ a fun read. Not necessarily the best thing to ever grace this good earth, but would check out other works from this author.
★★★ this was not my cup of tea (or glass of wine) but it had some redeemable qualities that made me keep reading.
★★ well… that was definitely a thing. This book was just not it for me. Most likely forced myself to finish while crying on the inside.
★ what the ever loving fuck were my eye balls just forced to perceive? DNF’d and metaphorically chucked out the window.

Disclaimer: Writing a book is an incredible feat and I admire anyone who has managed it. This is just my personal opinion - take it or toss it as you see fit.

I LOVED this story so much. I am weak for serial unaliver stories. That, mixed with smut, unapologetic villains and so much tension you will snap? It makes for a perfect read to me.

Elodie is an author that used to be a psychology student. She shadowed a prison psychologist and that's where she met and became obsessed with Roux Patel. She became an author that wrote dark, erotic stories with an MMC named Rue, based on the real life Roux. Once Roux Patel gets out of prison, he sees her books and immediately makes it his mission to find Elodie.

This story is short, ok? But it packs grit, obsession, DARKNESS, pain and sex. I'm obsessed with both characters. Elodie craves the darkness and Roux is more than willing to give it to her. This is not your usual dark romance. There is no declaration of love, but of ownership. There is no "morally grey" or "morally black". Roux is irredeemable and I love it that way. Is there a HEA? Well, that is up to you. You have to read this to figure it out.

As always CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS. In true SK Pryntz fashion, this story is bloody, gory and dark in very different aspects, even more so in the spice aspect. I would put the spice as 3.5/5. Again, this is a short book. And the spice takes place after halfway after a good deal of tension and violence.

I would recommend this book if you're a fan of psychological horror/thriller stories.

“Little Author" by Sk Pryntz is a gripping exploration of creativity intertwined with dark fantasy that will leave readers breathless. From the very first page, this thrilling narrative hooks you in, compelling you to devour each chapter with a fervor that feels almost primal.

The story centers on Elodie, a gifted but troubled author who draws inspiration from the notorious serial killer Roux to create her stories. However, everything shifts dramatically when Roux discovers the existence of her writings. This unsettling twist plunges Elodie into a nightmarish reality, where her fictional creation begins to encroach upon her life.

Pryntz masterfully delves into the psychology of obsession, showcasing Elodie's descent as Roux infiltrates her world, blurring the lines between inspiration and peril. The prose is vivid and unrestrained, capturing the haunting essence of Elodie's characters while also immersing readers in the chaos that ensues.

With its unhinged twists and electrifying suspense, "Little Author" not only entertains but challenges us to confront our own dark curiosities. This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a thrilling psychological ride where the stakes are high and the characters are unforgettable. Highly recommended for fans of psychological thrillers and dark fiction!

Since reading Twist Me because I had the opportunity to arc read Tempt Me SK has been an auto buy author for me and once again SK has shown me again why they are.

Elodie is a dark romance author who used to be a psychology student and was able to shadow a prison psychologist. This is where she becomes obsessed with Roux Patel. She starts writing dark erotic stories about a character called Rue. But unbeknownst to Elodie Roux is now out of prison and has discovered her books and has become obsessed with finding her.
This is only a short read (133 epages) but it packs a punch. It is dark, gritty and you struggle to figure out who is the most obsessive out of the two of them. Elodie craves darkness but it gets to a point where she is thinking has she bitten off more than she can chew. Please don't read this expecting romance. This all about obsession and possession. Roux has no redeemable qualities and that's what confuses Elodie. If you want to know if it's a HEA, it's not that straight forward. Each reader will perceive it differently.
As always please check your trigger warnings before reading any book of this genre. I will say if you are a fan of SK then I am certain you will love this.

“This isn’t just dark romance. This is a descent — and I loved every twisted second.”

You know that feeling when the hairs on the back of your neck rise because someone’s watching you? That’s this book. Intimate, disturbing, seductive — it owns its psychological edge and never lets you feel safe.

Roux Pattel is one of the most chillingly magnetic characters I’ve ever read. He’s not a book boyfriend. He’s not a misunderstood anti-hero. He’s a predator with poetry in his veins and murder in his blood. And the Author? She thought she could control him on the page. She thought wrong.

This is cat-and-mouse with a body count. It’s obsession wrapped in silk, and revenge painted with lust. The way fiction bleeds into reality here is terrifying and brilliant — a story about stories, and the danger of thinking you can write your demons into something softer.

Their chemistry is sickeningly addictive. It shouldn't work — and yet I couldn't look away.

Expect zero heroes. Expect to question yourself. And expect to be completely undone.

⚠️ Massive trigger warnings. This book doesn’t just flirt with darkness. It beds it, marries it, and kills in its name.

Read it if you dare. Just don’t expect to leave the same.

A Dark, Twisted, Must-Read Mindf••k

Okay besties, let me just say— "Little Author" by SK Pryntz is pure unhinged chaos and I DEVOURED every single page! Elodie and Roux are a duo that live rent-free in my head now, and I’m not even mad about it. This novella was dark, gritty, and twisted in all the best ways—like a horror rollercoaster that throws you off the tracks but somehow makes you want to ride again. The suspense had me white-knuckling my Kindle, the grit made me squirm, and the mindf••kery? Chef’s kiss.

Now… let’s talk about the spice. Because oh. my. god. 🔥🔥 This wasn’t your everyday slow-burn sweet spice—it was SCORCHING, chaotic, and absolutely feral. And listen, I’ll be real: it’s not going to be for everyone, so please do yourself a favor and read the TWs. They matter. But if you’re into unholy chaos mixed with darkly seductive tension, this novella will own you.

Bottom line: it’s intense, it’s disturbing, it’s addictive—and honestly? I regret nothing. Pryntz delivered another dark gem, and if this is your vibe, it’s 100% a must-read.

My Ratings: ⭐ 5/5 ▪︎ 🥵 5/5

What a fun freak ride that was. Any book the SK rights is going to grab you by the throat and keep you there until it’s over with and this book did that even though this is a shorter book it was packed with powerful SK magic that hit you right in the lady parts.

If I could describe this book in one word, it would be obsessed. I was obsessed with it, and the FMC and MMC were obsessed with each other.

This book follows an author and a unaliver that she is absolutely obsessed with ever since he was in prison, she wrote books about him, brought him to life and guess who stumbles upon all that and then finds her yep, tall, dark and crazy Roux. Did we enjoy him? Yes yes we did, was he absolutely crazy and unhinged yes, yes, he sure is.

Check your trigger warnings. It’s a short book but the spice may be spice in too much for some people. Also, the ending, yeah, about that. I did question it, and I tried to read as fast as I could to see how it ended, and it ended perfectly.

Absolutely loved this book, read gave it five stars. Recommend it to all of you. Pick it up. Give it a read you’ll love it too.

I swear... just leave it to SK Pryntz to turn my brain inside out 😈🖤

Read this in one sitting. Short, dark, and twisted in all the ways that make you question your sanity 😵‍💫

She creates worlds with her words. He's her darkest fantasy made flesh. She writes the stories. He lives the darkness. She pens heroes and villains. He walks the line between both 💀

And when they meet... words and madness collide. She can't resist the danger that follows, and he claims her like she's the only sin he's ever craved ☠️

5☆ read, and I don’t mind being hunted ☺️😅 What I meant is... he hunted her like she was his forbidden craving, every glance and touch dragging her deeper into his abyss, and she didn't want to escape (we both are Elodie 🤣) 🔥🫦

⚠️ Sure, the villain makes it ten times hotter... but this book is intense and heavy. Please read with caution. Your mental health matters 🌼

Thank you for completely wrecking my mind and for the chance to read this early 🖤

If you love your books dark and your MMCs deranged then no need to look any further as Pryntz hits it outta the park everytime.
Every book I've read by Pryntz has left me begging for more. I love a good deranged MMC and Roux is the definition.
Elodie is an author who writes about her obsession with criminally insane Roux Patel. Although she doesn't write him in detail and all the murders hes commited those are her dirty secrets. She spins the narrative to hook her readers. When Roux gets out and stumbles open her book, he becomes instantly obsessed and sets his sights to find her. When his obsession with trying to figure out how Elodie has gotten in his brain and figuring out what his next move before he even knows what it is, he falls into the trap of Elodie and realizes just how deranged her mind is and how it matches his.

This is a short story that packs a punch, there are very dark themes and you must read within your limits.

Make sure you read your trigger warning before reading, and be safe and honest with yourself in these.

Elodie is an author of some great spicy murder novels. The world does not understand or know where she gets her stories from. Even though she is lying to herself about exactly what these novels mean to her, and even more so what the main character means to her.

Roux is the villain that is easy to hate, hard to love, and probably just as sadistic. In the end you find yourself understanding the obsession, even becoming a part of it. He becomes just as obsessed and joy for Elida and she did for him. Though, he is honest with himself about his feelings.

Together they make for a wild ride. This books will take your on some rollercoasters you didn’t even know you needed. If you like the dark and depraved, you too will love this book from beginning to end. You too will struggle to put it down. Almost wanting to forget that real life is where you really live.

This book is nothing like you have read before SK has brought us a whole new level to her mind. The story that is written was not supposed to be seen. They were just notes that all of a sudden starts coming alive in real life leaving her questioning how but not just her I’m luck with tons of questions too, and then throughout her course of learning him he gets out and he is on the hunt for her. Because he realizes that she is the one. Will her darkest fantasies come alive before he lives her? This story has me like oh my God SK, you did not go there, but yes, she did. She went there. But you see and delicious in all the right ways from the twist in the turns to the ups and the downs she had me drawn to the story that I devoured it in no time I couldn’t stop I was addicted. These are the books. I look forward to the ones I can’t put down and you always hearing that effect into your writing.
