One magical cat. One creepy library. A box of cold cases no one wants solved.Juno never asked to be exiled to Badger’s Haze. She’s a magical cat with shaky powers, a faulty snow globe as her only connection to home, and a major attitude problem.
While sulking in the village library, she finds a dusty old box tucked in the basement. Inside are unsolved crimes, long forgotten and left to rot. One case stands a missing witch. A weird, whispering well, and a village that remembers too little.
Now Juno’s got questions, and they’re making people nervous. The villagers want her gone. The ghosts want her help. And someone will do anything to keep the truth buried.
***Welcome to The Feline Files, where magic is unpredictable, murder is personal, and the snarky, sassy cat detective always lands on her feet.
Perfect for fans of witchy supernatural cozy mysteries with paranormal twists, talking cats, ghostly clues, and village secrets that don’t stay buried for long.
K.E. O’Connor is the author of the Witch Haven mystery series, the Crypt Witch cozy mysteries, the Lorna Shadow ghost mysteries, the Holly Holmes baking mysteries, the Zee Town paranormal cozy series, and the Old Sarum mystery series, along with other titles available if you cast the right spell. She can imagine dragons, taste cookies when they aren’t even there, and hear the crack of a witch’s broom at a hundred paces.
K.E. (the K stands for Karen) lives in the United Kingdom (it isn’t very united, but that’s a mystery for another time) among the mystical stones and fairy creatures of Somerset. She graduated from the Universities of Southampton and Reading, where she received degrees in Archaeology and Cognitive Evolution (both highly entertaining to take part in, but with the career options of a ground witch’s toe bone.)

THE CASE OF THE WHISPERING WELL is the first installment in the newest series, The Feline Files, by K.E. O'Connor. The plot is fascinating, and the snarky characters, humor, and unexpected twists and turns make this series another winner for this author. This was a unique start to a new series. Juno and BFF Sage using snow globes (magical communication device) to talk to each other.
Juno has been banished to Badger’s Haze with no way home. Getting bored, Juno decides to solve a closed case of a dead witch found at the Whispering Well. If she can solve this old case, maybe she'll be forgiven and released back to Crimson Cove, her wonderful witch and all her friends. As usual, Juno has BIG plans that go astray, but this former goddess, now a cat, always perseveres with her plans.
I didn't initially like the transcribed back and forth communications between Juno and Sage, but then Juno gets some clues to work with, thanks to Sage's determined research.
I really enjoy this new series. I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this fun, cozy mystery, and the above is my honest and freely given review. I also recommend this new series (and the Magical Misfits Mysteries series) to anyone who loves entertaining mysteries and wise talking cats.
What a creative twist to a cozy mystery. Two cat familiars talking over a snow globe that acts like a cell phone. Juno has gotten herself in trouble, stripped of powers and banned to the town of Badger's Haze. With nothing to do, she opens files and discovers many cold cases.Sage, her best fur friend talks to her regularly via snow globe. The case they start with is one where a magic well has gotten so old, the magic has warped. There are many deaths at the well. Sharing and reading all information on the case, they set a plan of information gathering. Snow globes are out dated forms of communication. Poor Juno, hers smokes like it is about to fizzle out. It is very interesting how our sleuths are cats. I enjoyed that. Will Juno's globe keep working? What if any thing can she to to come home to Crimson cove?
The Case Of The Whispering Well - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
The exiled Juno and her ally Sage solve a cold case, archived by Angel Force. They investigate the mysteries around the eponymous Well, linked to some unsolved deaths. Learning who's really a friend or foe leads to magical mayhem for all.

Overall, the story was good. The format was horrid though. It reads like Dracula - all conversations over snow globe and/or diary entries and document reading. I feel it is abrupt and distracting and it was rather hard to get through some of it. I really love the entire storyline of Juno & Zandra and all their magical misfits and I miss those who weren't included. Hopefully the next book is written as a story instead of this script like thing.
I love the way this story was written, and I never figured it out until the very end! Very nicely twisted, I've already pre-ordered the next book in this series, I'm so loving these characters !
I really enjoy the characters in this book but I don't like the new writing style. I hope this series is not too long before going back to Crimson Cove.
