He forces her to marry him, branding her as his property. She throws the ring in his face—he has a tattooed wedding band etched into her skin. Every protest, every tear, is swallowed by his need to possess her. She is his in every way that matters—and when she dares to look at another man, he kills without hesitation. No one touches her. No one looks at her. No one speaks to her unless he allows it.
This is a dark romance that explores intense themes of obsession, possessiveness, and control. For mature readers only.
This book ends in a cliffhanger. Stay tuned for the next installment to find out what happens next!
Art student Hannah (h), taken by Dante (H), a powerful man who sees her not as a person but as something to possess, endures her new life where she is reduced to submission, manipulation, and silence. Stripped of her freedom and forced into a world built entirely around Dante’s obsession, Hannah fights to hold onto the fragments of her former self. But in a place where every word, every glance, every thought is monitored or punished, resistance comes at a cost — one she may no longer be able to afford. As Dante systematically breaks down her sense of autonomy through psychological pressure, calculated violence, and forced intimacy, Hannah must decide whether to keep fighting a war she’s losing or adapt to survive. What begins as survival by performance turns into a dangerous question of identity: how much of yourself can you fake before you lose who you really are? A dark, intense, captivity romance, exploring the brutal dynamics of power, obsession, manipulation, mindgames, survival, trauma, and control — and the quiet devastation of what it means to be owned as one's self is slowly eroded under captivity. Ends on a cliffie.

If I’m honest, I walked into this second book in the trilogy not knowing what to expect—maybe some flicker of humanity from Dante, some hint that beneath the control and cruelty there might be a soul worth saving. But if I was looking for light, I found only shadows. Whatever hope I had was snuffed out by the cold precision of Dante’s obsession. Any ember of empathy is drowned in his need to dominate, to erase any thought Hannah might dare to have that doesn't orbit him like a dying star caught in his gravitational pull. Dante’s jealousy borders on grotesque—an all-consuming beast that awakens if Hannah so much as breathes in another man's direction. And it's not just Hannah who bleeds under his gaze; we bleed with her. That’s part of the brilliance—and the horror—of this trilogy: the way the author drags you into Hannah’s torment, makes you feel every pulse of fear, every flicker of hopeless defiance. Her world tightens like a noose, page by page. There’s a suffocating sense of inevitability that settles in your bones as you read. You feel it—how she’s losing herself, slipping under, even as she claws to stay afloat. And Dante? He’s monstrous in his devotion. His love is not tender—it’s twisted and consuming. He doesn’t want a partner. He wants an object. A thing of beauty to lock away, admire, and own. His affection is a gilded cage. The dread that crept in during book one now settles deep. There is no safety, no soft place to land for Hannah. Only a psychological war she seems destined to lose, each small act of resistance crushed beneath Dante’s iron will. He’s always one step ahead, and the power balance tips further in his favor with every chapter. As the finale of this trilogy looms, I find myself clinging to a desperate, fragile hope: that Hannah finds some scrap of freedom, some path to peace. But the truth sits like a stone in my stomach—I know her only chance at survival might be to hand Dante the last thing she’s held onto: herself. Completely. Utterly. And that surrender? It might just be the most terrifying thing of all. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I don’t even know where to start—this book gutted me in the most haunting, addictive way. I knew Dante and Hannah’s story would be dark, but nothing prepared me for how deeply it would get under my skin.
Hannah is not your typical heroine—she’s vulnerable, complex, fighting to survive a situation no one should ever face. Her voice feels real—raw and painfully human. And Dante? He’s not a romantic lead. He’s obsessive, terrifying, manipulative to the point of madness—and yet, he’s magnetic. You hate him, fear him… and still can’t stop reading.
This isn’t a love story. It’s a descent. A power struggle. A psychological cage dressed in devotion. The writing is stunning—tense, emotional, deliberate. Every scene hits like a gut punch. Some quotes stayed with me long after:
“Some battles cannot be won. Some marks cannot be removed. Some chains become so familiar you forget they're there until you try to move beyond their length.” Dante doesn’t love—he possesses. And Hannah? She’s trapped in the chaos, trying to hold on to who she was. The ending left me breathless and aching for the final book. If you like villain romances with no promise of redemption and stories that walk the edge between horror and desire—this is the one.
But be warned: this is not soft or safe. It’s brutal, twisted, and unforgettable.
Well written like always, we bet the continuation of a trilogy. This is part two and it is the story of a female that was taken by her obsessed captor to clear her father from his debt. Her whole family from what our H tells her seems content with their lives as she is here. Alone with him and his people and confined. I feel for her.
She has come to enjoy him but still feels locked up due to his need for her softness to be directed to only him.
If he was softer with her, she would have felt more compelled to stay with him. She'll keep trying to escape and I don't blame her. Being nice to a delivery person with no intent? Doing what he did to his own man when he was only trying to help her. He is too extreme in his need to keep her to himself. He purposely was breaking her down to need him but didn't show enough softness. She has come to love his touch but he should think about her heart as a better means to keep her. I am curious, next book-just how will he accomplish this?

I would not call this series romance -at all. I'm a fan of the captive/captor, forced marriage tropes, but this, wasn't that. There is very little spice in these books and not much of anything happens through the 3 books in this series. I continued, because I wanted to know how the author would end this, but this bares little to no resemblance to any of the other captive/captor, forced marriage romances I've read previously. The fmc NEVER stops fighting, NEVER truly comes to love the mmc. Oh she says she does in the end, but it wasn't believable. Nothing in the pages of this book will lead you to believe that she truly does love him when she says she does. The author did not make believe it.
This series felt like an exercise in what total ownership of another human being might look like. That's it. Very little spice and no plot beyond that. Nothing between the main characters that could be considered love at the end of it all. Just obsession, control and a fmc that finally decides to stop fighting because its pointless.
3 stars because I read all three books, but this could have been so much better than it was.
You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Dante sexy as all get out terrifying, obsessive, at times very calculating, but also overprotective of those he cares for (a funny way of showing it), dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly every day, and when you are on his radar you can pretty much hang it up because he is coming for you. Hannah is stuck dealing with the craziness of Dante most days she doesn’t know if she is coming or going knowing she can’t win for losing so to speak and she doesn’t know herself anymore each day she breaks a little more but where are they headed, will he wake up to see the damages he has caused thus far, will he open up to help us understand him, the why, will she find some form of peace, and where will it all end?
This is the second part of a trilogy and does end on a cliffhanger. If you have not yet read the first one you should go read that one first. This story picks up where the first left off with the dark and possessive Dante determined to possess her in every way. He leaves nothing to chance with her, he is determined to control every aspect of her life and make himself the center of her world. He is so completely manipulative and controlling that he forces her to submit to his will losing her autonomy in the process. This is a dark relationship, and you struggle to find anything redemptive in his obsession. But there is a pull between them that even she can't always fight. The third part should wrap up this story and it will be interesting to see what they make of the tangled web they have found themselves in.

Read book 1 “Bound to Him” and book 2 “In His Name.” Hate to give low star ratings but these were simply boring.
I’ll give E.B. Fox her due. Expertly captured obsession and the breaking down of someone in captivity. But as a story arch that was not enough to pull together a plot. And quite frankly nothing else happened.
He obsesses. She try’s to flee or hold back pieces of herself and he chips away at this wall. There is no relationship building, his controlling behavior becomes repetitive and frankly predictable.
I’m skipping book 3. I don’t think this story is salvageable. If she escapes - what was the point of 3 books. It should have been a novella. If she breaks, same should have been pared down to a novella. And if he suddenly pivots to gain enlightenment and catches human feelings for her, well that would be a break from the character the author has crafted and come across as false.

I desperately wanted to like this but I struggled to finish it. The MMC (Dante) sees Hannah(FMC)and instant obsession he ends up getting her in exchange for all of her father's debts. I'm usually all about morally black characters but this man was almost too much. Every s3xual interaction is 🍇 he even realizes she is dissociating the entire time and does not care. In the end he throws her in a room for 3 days of isolation because she thanked a delivery boy.
It feels like Hannah's every other paragraph is either her describing her tattoos he forced on her, specifically the ring, or her dissociating - understandably seeing as he took every single privilege away from her. And Dante's every other chapter is how he can't handle anyone being in Hannah's presence or how he can attempt to break her more.
what really got me was her last "escape attempt" WHO CARES IF YOU DON'T HAVE SHOES ON, WHO CARES IF HE SAID YOUR NAME, RUN IN THOSE DAMN WOODS.

Dante's actions are relentless, obsessively haunting, he has no redeeming qualities.
Hannah seems helpless in her thoughts trying to fight, the constant push and pull, would love to see her give it back to him..
Readers who like zoe blake gilded cage series will love this.
Perfect for dark, possessive villian cravins, but then again this isn't a love story, more of a man who doesn't know the boundaries of love, only knows to possess.
Some of the quotes- I liked.
Some battles cannot be won. Some marks cannot be removed. Some chains become so familiar you forget they're there until you try to move beyond their length.
Dante the mf, who can't function well without her.
I’ll kill every fucking person on this planet if that’s what it takes to keep her.

Oh my! Dante's possessive obsession is getting more and more intense. How much more will Hannah be able to endure before she is completely broken. And the little defiance she has left explodes? If you enjoy your stories on the darker side you will enjoy this book very much. This story grabs your attention and doesn't let go. My heart aches for Hannah. And with every word I read I wish with all my might that karma gets a hold of Dante. LoL. I am totally enjoying this trilogy Marked for Him by E. B. Fox. I highly recommend these books. These books need to be read in order to understand the full story.
This is the second book in the trilogy with Dante and Hannah. The reader is pulled into this story with all of the different happenings and feelings in this story. Dante is possessive, obsessed and controlling where Hannah is concerned. The writing is intense and described so the reader feels all of the emotions that Hannah is going through. There is suspense, betrayal, secrets, violence, twists and steam.

This is the second instalment in Dante and Hannah's story and I have to say I still dislike Dante, he has no redeeming qualities at all. He's controlling and cruel and his possessiveness knows no bounds.
If you thought his control and possiveness were bad in the first instalment it's become much worse now. But despite his obsession and possessive behaviour, I do believe he loves Hannah.
I am hooked by the suspense and wondering what he will do next and how much more can Hannah take.

There are very dark themes in this book that not everyone will be able to appreciate. This book picks up pretty much where the last book ends, amount of time is not indicated, and doesn't seem significant. The level of Dante's obsessive possessiveness goes to new places. Hannah does make a few attempts to regain her freedom. Dante continues to work on his manipulations of Hannah to get her to fully submit to him. And Hannah continues to try to fight, but fears that she is starting to lose herself.

Dual POV, Spicy, Dark, Mafia MMC, Captor x Captive, Age Gap
As this is book 2 in a series I was hoping for some more depth and character development but unfortunately Hannah’s character doesn't have much depth other than being a naïve young woman who is stripped of all autonomy whom is completely controlled by Dante. Because she essentially has no identity other than being Dante’s captive there is no passion or relationship growth between them. Once again this book ends on a cliff hanger but honestly I’m not sure Dante can be redeemed.
Still loving them! I hate that he doesn't let her be her and he's shaping her in his own possession instead of loving her for her. Dante is beyond possessive and if he would just let off the reigns a bit she would love him. However I think that is coming. Through his obsession and possessive alphahole-ness I think he really truly loves her. There is way more conditioning and control in this one than the first but im hoping in the 3rd book we see some change.

The first book in the series was good and because it ended in a cliffhanger, I was dying for the second book and this one did not disappoint. Book 2 also ends in a cliffhanger (Trilogy) but some of the events that were built up in the first book continues in this one. The story has tons of ups and downs, and twists and turns that will keep your interest glued to the pages. Great read.

I walked into this second book of the trilogy not knowing quite what to expect. The author drags you into Hannah’s torment, makes you feel every pulse of fear, every flicker of hopeless defiance. An emotional story with twists and turns that will keep you wondering what will happen once all is revealed. That was a brutal cliffhanger! I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next in the trilogy.
Book 2 of the Marked for Him Trilogy. Couldn't wait to read this. Storyline was interesting, detailed, and fast paced. Characters were relatable. Their story together was explosive at times, full of exciting twists. Just the right amount of drama and suspense. Can't wait for the next book in this amazing series.

Please check all this CW and TW before starting book 2. So I absolutely hated Dante in book 1 and my feelings in this one doesn’t change much but I start to understand him a bit better. The way I want Hannah to grow a spine!.

Dante shows more of his cruel sadistic behavior in order to 'break' Hannah in Book 2. Hannah still clings to her resistance. This is not your typical romance book and is extremely dark.

The story takes up from the last one with Dante the character you love to hate. He is just as manipulative and possessive as before only he steps it up in this one making my feelings for Hannah. Will Hannah find her way in the relationship with Dante. This was an intense read I can't wait for the next book.

This is the second book in the trilogy. First book was very good and the second one was surprisingly good as well. As a non-fan of trilogies or cliffhangers this one has been a pleasant surprise for me and I cannot wait to read the final one.

There is so much darkness here in a way that is both physical and psychological. Dante and Hannah's story continues with themes of claiming, captivity, control, consequences, and determination. He is a man utterly consumed with possession and obsession. "Mine, only mine.".

4 1/2 stars An intriguing tale which was an experience to read. I loved her strength and determination. I was shocked at his response and resilience. I found their relationship intriguing yet unsettling in a way. I also found the story captivating.

This is a very dark romance. It is extremely well written. However....I did feel that Dante's so called "punishments" were excessively cruel at times. It did give the reader a chance to see into his psyche. At least somewhat. I don't want to say too much and spoil this for anyone. I recommend this book. It kept me so entranced that I didn't want to put it down.
In His Name is the second book in this series which continues the dark romance between Dante and Hannah. Dante continues to test Hannah' s resilience as he maintains his control of her life. The book ends in a cliffhanger which will continue their story in the final novel of the trilogy, Marked For Life.

It is drab and depressing. I love all the tropes but it is so badly executed I have no words. No plot advancement, no character edvelopment, no angst or any modicum of feelings, and the same scenarios with slight variations. I am not even going to bother with the third book. No hate to the author, maybe her other works are good.
