Beatrice "Betty" Hughes has only ever wanted two things: to leave Cole County and to be with Nash Donovan. Obsessed with the stars, she studied astronomy, convinced that it would be her ticket out of her small town, but she never left. She couldn’t. When her best friend convinces her to run the new B&B at Boulder Ranch, she agrees. It's the first step to doing something more with her life and one that could bring her closer to the only man she has ever loved.

Nash Donovan leads a quiet life. He works, goes to the gym, stays home alone, and works some more. It’s the same life he’s lived since he left his hometown for college and didn’t look back. With his father’s impending retirement from the family business, Cole County is dragging him back home. What should have been a simple transition turns upside down when the girl he's known for years confesses her feelings for him.

Can a childhood crush that never faded for Betty become the love and family Nash never thought he'd have?

Betty has had a crush on Nash since she was younger, which she drunkenly admits to Nash. He's not a good bet, he's grumpy, not looking for love or to stay in the small town. He tries to keep her at a distance but they eventually give in to the attraction.

what a fun and lightly spicy read! honestly I really hated Nash for at least half the book! I adore Betty for her strength, love, and sweetness. all the beautiful scenes and land explained made me wish I was right there with them watching sunsets, going on girls nights, and watching rodeos! there is such a strong family line though this entire book and i loved that so much.

Want Me is the fourth instalment of the Boulder Ranch series by Britton Brinkley. A beautifully heartwarming cowboy romance that will have you feeling all the feels!

This is a delightful and heartfelt story of a rekindled friendship that also develops old feelings. It is a lovely and inspiring storyline with depth and emotional connection. I loved these characters and their achingly slow burn love. That will have listeners shaking their heads!! It’s obvious how they feel for each other and damn it… get it together you guys!

The audio experience is top notch. Andi Eloise is superb in the southern setting and her accent is spot on! She has quickly become one of my favourite voice actors and with each audio experience I find her all the more impressive! She has taken the role of Beatrice "Betty" Hughes and ran with it… what an incredible performance. She has crafted this character with a beautiful voice that gives this unique character a special and beauty in her emotional depth and overall development. Outstanding!

Ryan Lee Dunlap is a fantastic actor and shows his ability at character development and depth. It is my first experience listening to this incredible voice actor and I am absolutely delighted with his portrayal of Nash Donovan. He brought this beautiful character to life in an extraordinary and inspiring manner that I absolutely adore!

The narrative is a beautiful and heartwarming piece of work by Britton Brinkley. I am excited for the next in this series as well as her other works.

A must listen for all cowboy romance fans!

Quotes:

"Can a childhood crush that never faded for Betty become the love and family Nash never thought he'd have?"

“I'd thought it would be hard to turn on the charm after being away from the bar these past few months, but it came naturally. Perhaps I shouldn't have doubted myself when this is who I've always been to everyone around me.”

Hours have passed while I lay awake staring at the ceiling, trying to understand how I didn't know. How could I have missed the way she looked at me for years?

"You know, Nash, you're the man of my dreams. I've thought about you every day since I was ten years old. Do you know what it's like being in love with someone for so long and they don't know?" she snickers to herself, before her fingers sink into my hair. "Well, now you do, I think. Yeah, I'm in love with you, Nash, and there's no one I want more than you."

"Can I take you somewhere?"
"Why?"
He tucks a piece of hair behind my ear, running his thumb over my cheek. "Because I have to prove to you I meant what I said."

So, an honest review… Three stars (-_-)

I wish I could’ve given more stars, as I really looked forward to reading this novel after the awesome read that was Ride Me.

Before diving into the flops, let me give Britton Brinkley a MAJOR shoutout for touching on a very contemporary social issue that many women deal with. Even if it was in passing. (No spoilers.)

That being said, I could’ve read the first 25% of Want me and the last 25% and had a better reading experience than I currently had, because… the story seems to drag on with no apparent point.

The hot/cold cowboy love story that could’ve been a big hit, went from cold to frigid, only to turn around in the last leg and suddenly everything was peachy.

At some point I figured Betty was honestly going to go for the side character. And I would’ve cheered her on! Nash was being a douche-canoe, and she would’ve been far better off with the rookie bull-rider.
It didn’t help that Betty herself had the personality of a doormat and was no match for the sullen, opinionated cowboy.
A romance between Betty and Ward would’ve been a better match of character energies.

About midway I started to skim the text, in hopes of getting to the good parts. Except they never came, until there was a very sudden U-turn and all the lovers' issues are magically resolved.

My biggest frustration is seeing how the tropes – brother's best friend, childhood crush, hot/cold – could've worked, with a little more depth and attention to detail.

Currently, it really feels like the author was A) pressed for time to finish up the novel in time for the release, B) wasn’t into to story herself and just couldn’t be arsed to go back and rewrite the parts that needed work.
Or C) she wrote the ending first, then went back to fill out the middle part and completely lost track of hot/cold balance.

If you made it to this point, there are a few minor redeeming qualities, as mentioned above. And if you’re a reader who devours romance novels like it's second breakfast at luxury resort… you’ll most likely still enjoy this book.

P.S.
This isn’t directed only at Britton Brinkley, but all (romance) authors that feel the need to jump on the hype train of Trigger Warnings: I Hate It.
Once again the trigger warnings seemed to promise a good story, yet the actual issue was glossed over in less than two paragraphs.

So to all authors using Trigger Warnings at the beginning of their novel:

Either put them there and deliver, or skip them all together.

🐴 Boulder Ranch Series

Every time I return to Boulder Ranch, I swear it tightens its hold on my heartstrings. There’s just something magical about Cole County—the wide-open skies, the romance, the rodeo cowboys who don’t realize they’re falling until they’re gone and the strong, independent women they love. And Want Me? This one had me absolutely mesmerized.

Nash Donovan born and raised in Cole County—he left for college knowing one day he’d return, destined to take over the family business. But he had built a life of his own and had a successful business in Montana.
Then there’s Betty Hughes: stargazer and dreamer who has only ever wanted two things - to leave Cole County and to love Nash Donavan.

When Nash returns for rodeo season his best friend Beckett convinces him to babysit a very tipsy Betty. In her drunkenness, she admits to Nash that she has loved him since she was 10 years old.
These two had me feeling all the feels and I have never enjoyed the friends to lovers trope more than I did in this book.

Andi Eloise was a perfect choice for this book. Her sweet Southern warmth is chef’s kiss for Betty—soft, hopeful, and just a touch vulnerable.
Ryan Lee Dunlap is a new name for me, and wow did he nail Nash. Rugged and tender with just enough broody cowboy… I’ll definitely be looking for more of his work.

Nash Donovan & Beatrice "Betty" Hughes story

Betty has always dreamed of more — of leaving her hometown and chasing the stars. Nash is the one who actually left… until life pulls him back. The tension between them isn’t loud; it’s in the quiet moments, the longing glances, and all the words they’ve never said. 🥺💫

What I loved most was how real it felt. There’s a gentle ache to this story — that mix of yearning and comfort that only small-town, second-chance love can bring. And when things finally fall into place? Total emotional release.

💫 “I used to look up at the stars and make wishes.
Now I just look at him.” 💫

The audiobook was so well done — the narrators Andi Eloise and Ryan Lee Dunlap brought so much feeling to each line that I could practically feel the heartbreak and hope in their voices. It’s soft, it’s slow-burn, and it’s the kind of story that lingers after the last chapter.

Betty has always wanted to leave Cole County, but never really got the chance. She loves the stars and studied astronomy thinking this would be her way out, but when her best friend convinces her to run the new B&B at Boulder Ranch she takes the opportunity. This B&B however, becomes the way in to her love, Nash.
Betty, in a drunken state confesses to Nash that she's always had a crush on him, since she was about 10. After making this confession she tries to avoid Nash, but it's almost impossible since he's staying at the B&B.
Honestly, my heart hurt for Betty through most of this book. I can't imagine how hard it must be to be around the man you love knowing that you can never have him. Not only is he older, but he's also your brothers' best friend. Nash keeps giving off hot/cold signals because he wants her, but he also knows he shouldn't. But then I was also frustrated with her because when they did finally decide to give things a go, she takes him home and is scared to tell her family. I was screaming at her in my head because girl, you finally got the man, own it and stand up for what you want. Her character was a little too soft for my liking. She had no backbone.
The story itself is great thought. I enjoyed the plot and the pacing of the story, I just think the characters needed a little more depth and personality. Still a great read though and I can't wait to read more from Boulder Ranch.

I love me some romance that allows characters to be flawed. And though I certainly had moments of wishing I was drinking bourbon with Betty, I also understood that Betty had been allowed to crush quietly while Nash needed and deserved time to catch the hell up.

Nash Donovan struggled to grasp that Betty Hughes is no longer the ten-year-old girl he met when he was eighteen. She’s fully grown, in her thirties, and while she isn’t HIS (something he makes very clear)...he’s still territorial. Still jealous. Still deeply affected by the idea of her being with anyone else.

As a she-falls-first story, the FMC’s feelings stem from a childhood crush that was never acted on. Nash never crossed a line. He never viewed Betty intimately when she was younger. He respected her as a human being, so he moved accordingly, and that distinction matters.

Nash wrestled with the realization that he can see Betty differently now. Once this reality settles, his feelings grow organically. Forced proximity only tightens the tension between them, especially because Nash is convinced he isn’t good enough for Betty. He keeps rejecting her feelings, not out of cruelty, but fear. He worries that he’d ruin her life the same way his previous marriage had failed. But when my boy finally got his sh!t together, that quiet longing turned into explicit claiming!

Humans are complicated. Growth isn’t linear. And I ate up the messiness of this cowboy romance.

Childhood crushes can be rosy yet hurtful at the same time. Add to it the unrequited element and it makes even more heartbreaking. A naive young girl like Betty falls for her brother’s best friend Cole, it’s destined for heartbreak. He sees her as his best friend’s little sister. Completely off-limits and forbidden. And she keeps it all in, hidden from him and the world.
They all think she’ll get over it, but one night of drunken revelry has her lips loosening to the point of embarrassment and he passes it off as nothing but a childish crush
Yearnings that refuse to abate get down to slow burn simmer.
After a long period of will he/wont he, he comes to his senses. It was a good story told well. Narration by Andi Eloise and Ryan Lee Dunlap was excellent

Want Me by Britton Brinkley Book 3 in Boulder Ranch series

Performed in dual narration by Andi Eloise & Ryan Lee Dunlap

Nash Donovan and Betty Hughes both grew up in Boulder County but the problem is Betty is Nash’s best friend Beckett’s little sister so when he leaves for college he doesn’t give the stargazing 10 year old another thought but now he is destined to take over from his father in the family business he has returned after also building a life and business of his own in Montana. Nash is now divorced and basically going through the motions a little jaded and believing he is off falling in love permanently, that is until he is persuaded to him babysit Betty who is totally drunk and it is while she is in her inebriated state that she confesses to Nash that she has been in love with him most of her life.

The story follows a path where both struggle to navigate their feelings, Nash believing he can’t give her what she wants and Betty trying to convince herself that she needs to move on, but slowly they begin to realise they have more and want more in common that they thought.

This audio is performed in duet and Andi Eloise and Ryan Lee Dunlap are both brilliant in brining these two characters and all that comes with them to life.

I absolutely love this series and can’t wait for the next instalment.

Warning: Sexy southern accents, slow burn, it’s always been him and one stubborn cowboy ahead. As someone who told her childhood crush how she felt when she was 13 and had to wait until I was 35 to marry him, I had all the empathy and sympathy for Betty in this book! I’ll admit that I spent much of the book very frustrated with Nash but when he redeemed himself, he did a great job. Want Me can be read as a standalone, but it fits nicely as a companion to the other books in the Boulder Ranch collection. This whole series is like a lovely, warm blanket with a cup of hot chocolate – low drama, family and friends and HEAs. This book is no different except Nash was more stubborn than the previous heroes in the other books. But hang in there, Betty and Nash get their well-earned HEA. I enjoyed the audio production of this book performed in dual narration by Andi Eloise and Ryan Dunlap. Both performers did a great job with the southern accents, but the standout was Andi Eloise. If you haven’t discovered her narration yet, run right now to listen to everything she’s recorded. She has a wonderful, emotional delivery and her male voices are perfection. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform live in New Orleans recently and she is absolutely fantastic. Overall, a 3-star read with 5-star performances and 3 spicy peppers. Just finished Want Me and my heart is officially relocated to Cole County! If you love a small-town romance where the hero is completely undone by the girl who's been waiting for him forever, this is your next read.

Beatrice "Betty" Hughes and Nash Donovan's story is the ULTIMATE slow burn. The emotional tension built by Britton Brinkley is exquisite. Watching Nash, the reluctant returnee, finally see Betty, the steadfast woman who chose loyalty over escape, was everything. This plot is rich, beautiful, and deeply satisfying, a true masterclass in yearning and connection.

If you're coming for five alarm fire spice, you might want to adjust your expectations. While the emotional intimacy is a solid 10/10 and the chemistry is undeniable, the book keeps things on the sweeter, reserved side. BUT, don't let that stop you! The depth of the love story and the payoff are so worth it.

Bottom Line: A heartfelt, captivating romance about coming home and recognizing the love that was always meant to be.

Want me is Betty and Nash's story. I want to preface this with.. this book really frustrated me. Normally, I am alright with unrequited love but this one was hot one second and the next he was cold.

Nash make up your mind, man. This book had so much potential but really.. felt like it was pulling teeth in the middle parts. The miscommunication or lack or communication trope is not one I am a fan of unless it's done right. In this case, it was not. It felt like adults acting like 20 something year olds.

Which honestly, takes away from the books sole purpose.. of getting Betty and Nash together.

Still 4 stars as the book has a good story/plot and character development. I am just nitpicking because book 3 was amazing.

Thank you to the author for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I had the pleasure of receiving this book as an arc. This book is part of the Boulder Ranch series and is book 4. In this book you will follow Nash and Betty’s story. This one is an age gap so if that is your thing then you will love this one! Nash had me wanting shake him so many times throughout this book. My heart ached just as many times for Betty.
Betty has always dreamed of leaving her small town, but decided to take an offer to run a B&B. Nash is older than her and her brother’s best friend. He’s off limits, but Betty can’t help how she feels. One drunken night she confesses she’s had a crush on Nash since she was 10. She tries to avoid him after that, but cant when he’s staying at the B&B. If you want to know what happens between Betty and Nash then you need to read the book! You will love it!!!

I listened to this book and loved it! The story was cute, a little angsty, but the ending was perfect.

Being in love with someone most of your life can be awkward. Even more so when you drunkenly confess one night. That’s where we find ourselves and watch as our MCs stumble through trying to figure out how to be together. You might want to scream at Nash and/or Betty once or twice I’m not going to lie 😂

Narrators were excellent. I already loved Andi Eloise but she brought so much heart to this character. Ryan Dunlap was hysterical. His comedic timing was great and I loved him as Nash.

The spice wasn’t to spicy I have it 2.5🌶️. It was perfect with the story. But Nash’s mouth🥵

A great listen/read!

Enjoyable and engaging. This is the second book in her series and I loved it just as much as the first one. I was chosen for an advanced reader copy which I love. I love the development of this love story and the surrounding characters that we are familiar with from the first book. I do think that we could have delved into the MMC a little more and given him even more depth. This story does feel a bit more rushed than the first book but I enjoyed it immensely.
I would have given it 5 stars except that I save that rating for books I would read over and over, and I wish that we could give a half a star on Goodreads.

Betty has had a crush on her brother’s friend Nash for a long time. When alcohol gives her the courage to finally tell him how she feels, will he want her?

I thought this was ok. It was a lot of hot and cold. Not slow burn as much as whiplash. Honestly, Nash was not a very likable guy and towards the end I did not care for Betty as much either. There were just some odd plot points that I didn’t not think were needed. Also, the main reason they could not be together was flimsy.

The spice was fine. They definitely had chemistry. I liked the setting and I always feel like these books are well-researched in the world of rodeo/cowboy.

Overall, it was a decent cowboy romance if you do not mind a man who cannot make up his damn mind.

I couldn’t get enough of Nash and Betty! This poor girl is so timid and scared of her own shadows it seems and secretly she has been in love with her brother’s best friend since she was a child. It was a secret until one drunken night anyway. The way she let him crush her over and over made my heart hurt for her. The fact that he was oblivious to how much she loved him and how much he could love her and how badly he crushed her.. he made me mad. At one point I wanted to scream “get it on already!” Then to my surprise the pace picked up if you know what I mean. It was overall a good book and Britton, you always write your characters so well!! Thank you for the opportunity to ARC read!

Dual narration - Andi Eloise & Ryan Lee Dunlap

Book #4 Boulder Ranch series

Great book for a good listen.

Nash and Betty are perfect together.

Nash is the divorced “cowboy” ish best friend to Betty’s brother and the man she’s always wanted but thought she couldn’t have. After a drunken confession from
Betty, Nash is seeing her in a new light but she’s off limits. He’s not good enough for her, he can’t give her the things she needs&wants and he’s his best friends sister.

I really enjoyed Nash & Betty’s story. The narrators did a great job bringing the story and characters to life.

This book made me angry - it’s a slow burn, lots of angst story but it’s also so frustrating who emotionally devastating Nash is to Betty. He destroys her over and over again because he is insecure - I really struggled with him and found myself wishing Betty had a HEA with Ward and Karma got Nash where he deserved it. There is a right person, wrong time but this man needs therapy before he needs her. Betty was a wonderfully developed character, I felt like I understood and can relate to her on many levels, I am not a Nash fan however.

The beauty of this story is in the comfort + chemistry combo. There’s history, familiarity, and that slow burn ache of “I’ve wanted you forever but never said it.” Betty’s confession is tender and brave, while Nash carries that deliciously broody energy of a man who doesn’t quite know how to stay away once he sees what’s right in front of him.

The audiobook itself? Fantastic.
Andi Eloise brings Betty’s vulnerability and sass to life, while Ryan Lee Dunlap’s narration gives Nash a grounded, masculine presence that fits the character perfectly. Their delivery makes the emotional beats land even stronger and gives the small-town atmosphere an intimate, lived-in feel

Want Me is the 4th book in the Boulder Ranch series. This one is brought to us by author Britton Brinkley and performed by Andi Eloise and Ryan Lee Dunlap.

This is the first book I’ve listened to of the series but I’m sure I’ll listen to the previous ones soon! I am a sucker for an age gap, cowboy romance and this one hit the spot. Betty and Nash were cute. She has been in love with him since she was a kid and he never really noticed her like that until she blurted it out in the middle of a drunk night in the bar.

Andi Eloise will always be a Queen to me and she was remarkable. That southern twang really did me in! Ryan Lee Dunlap was the perfect partner for Sndi. Loved him as Nash.

I love a good romance story especially when its a romance where everyone else can tell your in love with the person but you deny it until all at once it hits you hard just how much the person means to you x I also enjoy how realistic these stories can feel x Age limit is no issue because you cant help who you fall in love with & if its meant to be why should age come into the equation (however, I do think there is a cut off before its just creepy) x Thank you again Ashley & Britton for the amazing stories you both are telling xxxxx

I received an ALC of this book, and it was amazing. The key thing that makes a book 5 stars for me is whether or not it can cause an emotional response. This book, and the narrator’s portrayal of these characters gave me all the feels. I laughed. I cried. I snortled. I also yelled at the characters, and maybe the author once or twice. Lol

The tension between these two characters felt genuine and frustrating and beautiful. Also, shout out to Andi Eloise. I don’t think the author could’ve chosen a better voice actor for Betty.
