The Journey to the East was a good coherent story. Definitely enjoyed it. The rest, the Tales? Well, tales would make you think of a story whereas these didn’t really feel like stories in the end of themselves, but more like parts edited out of other books swept up from the cutting room floor and then organized for sampling. Regardless, I still enjoyed them. Kind of gave you some backstory into the previous books.
