Prepare to be compelled and devastated.

Endlings is a beautifully produced solo adventure zine that uses a deck of tarot cards and a few dice to move your character through a post-human, post-nuclear apocalyptic land. The dice help you work with a simple and elegant stats system. The cards give you narrative prompts for your character journaling.
I read this on a beautiful day while sitting outside a coffee shop. Just reading some of the prompts (I haven’t finished a full play-through yet) had me quietly weeping in public. Hall is masterful at building atmosphere while weaving in gut punches juxtaposed with an almost Elysian sweetness.

This is not going to be an experience fit for everyone but if you have a couple of hours and the wherewithal to dig deep into the potentially therapeutic emotional quagmire you will definitely be rewarded.
