As I sat on the beach reading Home Inside the Globe by Gail Straub a nearby beachgoer was drawn in by the incredible cover illustration of Will Lytle. After chatting about the subject of the book, the person ordered a copy right there from the beach! I’ve also purchased a copy as a gift for my niece who recently graduated college so that she can understand that the journey and experiences along the way are the greatest lessons.
Gail's story is a beautiful message of curiosity, generosity, and hope for us all to explore a more meaningful relationship with the world and her human inhabitants.
For a person like me with incurable wanderlust, Home Inside the Globe by Gail Straub is a delightful treat as the reader is carried around the world on a lifelong, beautiful exploration of people, culture and place.Gail's infectious curiosity and optimism is a breath of fresh air. Travel makes us wiser, better people, and more capable of understanding the interconnectedness of humanity. Buy this book and give one to a friend. I am so grateful for Gail’s story of identity, empathy and personal transformation as it richly intersects with our global narrative. Her storytelling voice is up close and personal. Her writing vividly brings to life the sights, tastes, smells, and sounds of her exciting and insightful experiences as she travels. First, to Paris, where a quote of Henri Bergson imprints in her heart: “The motive power of democracy is love.” The story she then weaves moves across many continents in her quest to live this truth.
I am especially touched by her work in India, where she learned first hand of the women’s cultural struggles as well as their indigenous wisdom. Here, Gail reflects on her own life’s work. How can she remain true to the empowerment methodology that she and her husband have created and stay open to stirring cultural adaptations? All great stories hold paradoxes. Here and throughout the book, she models for us how to be a witness and a compassionate presence.

Straub takes us on a journey around the globe, starting when she was a young adult and carrying through to travels as part of an Empowerment Organization she started with her husband. Her prose really brings each location to life, really describing the essence and atmosphere as well as the people she engages along the way. Beyond just documenting her travels, Straub gives a peek into how she grew and changed as a person as a result of the interactions she had with people from around the globe. She really demonstrates how traveling opens up one's world and perspective,

This book is a delight to read. The author’s prose takes you on a delicious journey across the globe and across her life. It is a hard book to put down. She shares her experiences in such an intimate way that you feel like you are looking through her eyes and growing along with her. This book is inspiring and empowering. A MUST read for all who want to renew their faith in the human spirit and expand their understanding of what is possible.

A profound life long spiritual journey of exploration, immersion into diverse cultures, and empowerment of self and others. Gail is a gifted listener and leader. I have learned so much about life and myself as a participant in her empowerment workshops, her journey into the deep feminine in Bali, and her Conscious Aging program. I loved learning about the arc of her life long journey.
