Born in Brisbane and raised in Gunnedah (Kamilaroi roots), Dean’s work draws deeply on First Nations wisdom and his commitment to sustainable community development.
With a Master’s degree in Marketing from Queensland University of Technology and currently undertaking advanced research at La Trobe University, Dean founded Barayamal (non-profit), which focuses on making a positive difference through First Nations entrepreneurship. Additionally, he also leads the Community News Hub Aboriginal Corporation, dedicated to authentic Indigenous storytelling and independent journalism.
In academia, Dean serves as an Online Learning Advisor at Swinburne Online (via OES) where he actively supports inclusive education shaped by Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.
His significant contributions in both community and educational sectors have garnered international recognition and numerous awards.
