Lordt!!!

I feel EVERYTHING here, you hear me?! This book had me so stressed out. It really was a “can’t put it down” type of novel, and I haven’t read one like that in a while. This was such a unique idea for a novel, and Thompson really delivers.

Every character felt fleshed out, real, and relatable, and I can’t tell you how many times I teared up reading this! As the youngest of four, I have definitely felt like Harriet before, and that plot point really hit me in the gut. I was so concerned with her welfare that the angel of Lee made so much sense to me, lol!

Goodness gracious. What an excellent read! If you enjoy spiritual warfare, really well-paced novels with twisty plots, this is one you want to grab. I’m so ready for Lown Lake now!

Set in the quiet town of Stillwater, Georgia, this contemporary Christian fantasy pulls you into a battle between light and darkness. When the unsettling Divinity You cult begins to spread its influence, Harriet Gordon and Pastor Cole Warren are drawn into a fight that tests their faith and the strength of their community.

With angels, demons, and spiritual warfare at its core, Stillwater blends suspense, heart, and faith into a compelling story. The characters feel real, the stakes are high, and the message of resilience and trust in God shines through.

If you enjoy Christian fantasy with small-town charm and supernatural tension, this one is worth the read.

Stillwater drew me in from the very first chapter. Heather Thompson’s prose is both thoughtful and evocative, offering a story that stirred my heart and mind. Though it’s Christian fiction, it prompted me to reflect deeply on biblical truths in a different, meaningful way. I still catch myself thinking about the book and how the unseen realm works around me.

I couldn’t put it down until I was done — I read it in just two days because it was that compelling. Thompson is an author to watch, and Stillwater is a stunning debut that lingers well beyond the final page. I’m very excited for the second book and can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

I found the premise of this story so intriguing! I definitely wanted to see what happened and keep reading! If you are into Supernatural and curious about spiritual warfare, I would definitely recommend this book! Heather did a really great job capturing the reality of the spiritual world around us that we are often too blind to see.

The editing did take me out of the story sometimes. However, it did not change the value of the story!

Overall, an excellent debut by Heather Thompson and I'm looking forward to reading Lown Lake!

10 out of 10 recommend! Stillwater was such a fun book to read, it had the right amount of mystery to keep you at the edge of your seat, and such a warm feel to it at the same time, because of the relationships of the characters (well some of them anyway...).
All in all I finished the book in a day.
Side note the author hid some Sunday school Easter eggs inside, they really cracked me up :).

What a gripping read! As uncomfortable as it may be for some to consider the truths of spiritual warfare, let alone read about it and discuss it, I fully agree with Heather Thompson that it is imperative we do so! This story definitely made me pause and ponder, and for that I am especially grateful. The story was fast-paced and kept me on my toes. I’m looking forward to the sequel!

Great first story from this debut author! The characters and their stories all really draw you in (rooting for you Harriet), and the villains are intriguing. I think readers that enjoyed the show Supernatural would enjoy this book with its incorporation of Christian theology, demons, and mystery.

This book is sooo good!!! The perfect super natural read. I’m sorry it took me so long to get this review written.
The story begins with Harriet attending a lifeless Baptist church forcing her to question her belief in a higher power & accidentally being sucked into a group that might not be all it seems.
Across town a local pastor & his wife battle against scandal & a smear on his name as the residents of the sleepy town of Stillwater are unknowingly caught in a battle between good & evil while demons wage war for their souls.
If you enjoy a good battle between heaven & hell definitely give these books a read!
