Sabrina’s books are always so much fun!! Who knew a toy train set from a store called Retro Whimsy could really be three ancient hot men cursed to be inanimate objects? Until they’re accidentally saved by our FMC, of course.

I love that all of Sabrina’s books are wild and silly and spicy and unhinged, and yet they someone always pull together for a surprisingly sweet moment. They’re such a fun time and they leave you feeling happier when you’re done reading them!

This book is full of hilarious puns, extra spicy moments, and dedicated ancient warriors. I can’t wait to see what else people in this town get up to thanks to Retro Whimsy!

I picked this up purely because the title made me laugh, and honestly? It delivered exactly what it promised.

As a novella, there’s not a huge amount of room for world-building or character development, and the author uses most of those pages for what the readers are really here for.

The plot is simple: a woman buys a vintage toy train set, discovers it’s cursed, and suddenly finds herself dealing with three sentient trains. Yes. Three. Not one train. Three trains.

Was it ridiculous? Absolutely.

Did I keep reading? Also absolutely.

There is technically a plot, but let’s be real, the plot mostly exists to transport you from one spicy scene to the next. The writing is fun, the humour lands well, and the author fully commits to the absurdity of the premise.

If you’re looking for a deep, plot-heavy read, this probably isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a quick, chaotic novella about a woman and three sentient toy trains, then congratulations, you’ve found exactly what you’re looking for.

Come for the train puns. Stay because somehow you’re emotionally invested in a cursed toy train set.

Fun and spicy!

This isn't your typical sentient object story, the objects in question are actually men turned into the toy trains by a god.

I'll leave how the curse is broken to your imagination. But it's safe to say the trains go into a tunnel with no light at the end.

It was ridiculous, sweet and extra spicy. You get some three on one action that'll leave you with hot flashes.

"I had to admit, it made having three boyfriends easier when those boyfriends were also boyfriends."

A MMFM romance that shouldn't be cute but it really is.

This was such an unexpected and fun book! Devoured this in one sitting and had a blast doing so. I can't wait to read more from Sabrina Cross now that I've had a taste!

This why-choooooose is a sentient object romance with so many puns I can't remember them all. Must read for fun and a pallet cleanser if needed.

Would I reread : HELL NO.

Welcome back to my unofficial series of reading the funniest, most ridiculous books ever with my bestfriend because why torture myself when I can torture someone else??

And boy, was this torture. We usually finish these novellas in one visit, but this was spread into 3 separate visits where we had to soldier through. And it was a mission. The phrasing and just the mere premise of the book was horrendous, let's get into that, starting with saved quotes.

"𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞. 𝐖𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬.”
So you're telling me, they haven't been washed in centuries and she uses them like that, not to mention, are they still dirty in human form??? That's got to stink so badly.

"𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐦."(pun intended?)

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧
𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦. 𝐀 𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧. 𝐀 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧. 𝐀 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞, 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧. 𝐀 𝐡𝐨𝐭, 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞, 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧. "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤?" WE GET IT GIRL.

"𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐠𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤."

"𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬..𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐲𝐞𝐭.”
“𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭.” 𝐋𝐞𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝,
“𝐇𝐞’𝐬 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐬.”
Who is he? Timmy-Tough-Knuckles?? He wasn't a grumpy ass in the slightest way. Dramatic much??

"𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞
𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐣𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐬."

"𝐌𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞
𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞."
(Bestie note) : that's so me.
(My reply.) : or anything that includes food. Hehe.

"𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨, 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬."

Anyways, why am I not surprised they got turned into trains by a "God" like it's the same thing with EACH ONE of these I read, a door, a lamp, marshmallow peeps and now TOY TRAINS. what are we doing with our lives???
Anyways that's where I'm going to conclude this review. Overall 1 & ½ ⭐️ TERRIBLE

Full steam ahead into the utterly unhinged brilliance that is Getting Railed! From the moment our heroine steps into a vintage toy shop and walks out with a cursed train set, it’s clear we’re not taking the scenic route — we’re heading straight to Chaos Central, with spice in the engine room and heart in the caboose.

This book is exactly what the title promises: wildly fun, unapologetically filthy, and shockingly heartfelt. Sabrina Cross takes the sentient object trope, cranks the throttle, and delivers three ancient warriors trapped in toy train bodies — until one curious woman sets everything into motion. And trust me, once those wheels start turning, there’s no slowing down.

The MMCs are a perfectly mismatched trio of steam-powered swoon, each bringing something different to the tracks (and to the bedroom). The heroine? Relatable, open-minded, and somehow the glue (or should I say coupler?) that keeps it all from derailing.

It’s got everything:
• A magical curse that’ll have you rethinking your childhood toys
• Why-choo-choo-choose dynamics that never feel forced
• Spicy scenes that will absolutely wreck your brakes
• Puns. So. Many. Train. Puns.

And just when you think you’re only here for the smutty ride, Cross sneaks in a surprisingly sweet plot and a satisfying HEA that ties it all together like the perfect bow on a conductor’s cap.

Thanks to Sabrina Cross for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Look, I have questions, and question no. 1 is what brand of train toy are we talking about here. Is this a Hornby, classy model train operation with the fancy moving parts, or more of a sturdy Brio type situation? In my head Julian was the IKEA bullet train toy which is going to be a whole thought the next time that comes out to play. In as much as I had a sense of what to expect, I had not expected insertion of a definitely not safe to insert toy, and the idea of how many lumps, bumps, wheels and gears our FMC was exposing herself to had my jaw dropping.

I genuinely feel like you have to go into sentient object stories blind, no preconceptions, just settle back and let the wild ride happen. Me telling you that I especially liked one of the bossy pants MMCs isn't going to be the thing that sways you here. Just check in with yourself about how you feel about the insertion of non-safe things and if it feels like this could be for you then give it a go!

I read an advance copy of this book. My thoughts are very much my own.

Standalone · MMFM · Sentient object · Erotic · 64 pages

Technically book 1 in the Retro Whimsy world, but this spicy little train ride is a complete standalone—with a cheeky hint at what’s coming next.

This is actually way sweeter than the title suggests—adorably erotic, even. Our FMC stumbles upon a train set, but when her trusty bullet is out of batteries, the engines on the toy track seem willing to pick up the slack… and might just vibrate the right way. Suddenly, her train transforms into a 6’+ hunk when… well, you know. But plot twist: she doesn’t just get one man—she gets three. Yes. Three train cars = three men! Oh, and they’re also boyfriends to each other. So really, it’s a very good deal.

Our FMC is 5’2”, curvy, and has those relatable “why would they want me?” moments—but the guys worship her. And by worship, I mean… worship. The author packs a mini plot and more orgasms than should be legally allowed into 64 pages. Every hole? Filled. Every page? Spicy. And somehow, it’s still cute.

Sentient object fiction. If you’ve read Sabrina Cross then you already know what’s in store for you, but if not, be aware that this read is not for the faint of heart or those that take life too seriously.
This is a fun quick sentient object book with tons of spice that hits hard and comes (pun intended.) at you quickly.

First we have some trains, then some men, maybe a curse, and all wrapped up with nostalgic toys and magic. Yes. I’m here for it.

Quotes:
“Not that I’d ever run a marathon. My ass didn’t run unless someone was chasing me.”

“Everyone knew wine and popcorn was a top tier girl dinner.”
(Relatable 😝)

And I loved the call out to Sabrina’s other reads:
🧸
“I hadn’t planned on getting turned on by a book about a demon teddy bear, but I couldn’t deny the tension building in my body. . . .When the teddy-turned-demon started stalking the FMC through the house in a mask, I started wishing I had charged my …”
🧌
“I noticed the Trogg dolls sitting on the shelf near the counter.”

The second I saw the title, I knew I was about to board a wild ride. From page one, Sabrina Cross had me strapped in, grinning like an idiot, and fully along for the chaos.

This book is pure, full-speed-ahead fun: spicy, chaotic, and packed with confident, take-charge men who know exactly what (and who) they want. And somehow, between all the smutty goodness, Sabrina managed to weave in a sentient theme and a real plot that kept everything on track. I wasn’t just here for the spice (though trust me, it delivers); I genuinely cared about how it all played out.

Is it a little unhinged? Absolutely — but that’s the whole point. Sometimes you don’t want a polite, slow-moving romance — sometimes you want to get knocked right off the rails and enjoy every minute of it.

(Also, yes, I tried to train-pun my way through this review. No regrets.)

Huge thanks to Sabrina Cross for the ARC — I’ll happily hop aboard anything she writes next!

The things I have read, oh my gawd!
Let me start off by saying Ms. Sabrina Cross knows how to write some good smut. I was in the mood for a little something different with high heat and this author delivered exactly what I wanted. I'm not going to lie, I cringed at the FMC shoving not one, but three, trains up her hoo-ha without thought of cleaning them, but miss thang got what she needed and then some when those three trains became three very real, very hard, and very sexy men. What a lucky lady. Questionable sanitary practices aside, I really enjoyed this book and it flowed nicely with a steady, fun pacing. Not once did it feel chunky or clunky and I think that, paired with the smut, had me devouring the book in record time. I would have loved to be able to read more about these characters' lives and the continued development of their relationship, but for a novella, it was pretty damn good.
If you want to try something new, get on track and give this a go 😜
All aboard!!! 🚂🚂🚂

Getting Railed - Sabrina Cross

I really love reading from this author. I’ve read many of their work and I’ve enjoyed each and every one of them. Aubry, Leo, Markus, and Julian had great chemistry. I also liked how the sentence object part of the story was set up. The way this author writes a sentient romance is very unique to them and I like the fantasy elements they add onto it. It makes the world very fun to read and engage with.

Sentient objects that turn into three gorgeous, delicious men—who wouldn’t want that? These vintage trains become exactly what she needs: a little smut and a whole lot of imagination that pushes her to explore beyond her limits. Super steamy, full of smut, unhinged—I love Sabrina’s books. She always knows how to create the perfect sentient smut. And this was definitely an intense ride… in every sense of the word.

We’ve got all kinds of MMCs here, so you’re bound to fall for all three. Personally, I was obsessed with the grumpy one. They each bring something different to the table, giving the FMC everything she needs and more.

If it’s sentient romance, I’m reading it without question—and this was no exception. I loved it, and I’m sure this steamy train ride will be one you won’t forget.

Stopped the book at page 45. I had to dnf. Not my kind of book . Issues with the writing. Ie the dialogue versus the action of the characters. You can't have characters keep saying we won't do anything you don't want to but when the other character says no and they keep going . Not a good book . Not even a good porn . Because consent is key.  She never says yes or tells them she wants anything they just do it . She claims after in her mind she enjoy it but that's not the point. Took me out of the story and they just came off as what they are men that took advantage of a woman and should still be a set of toy trains .

Getting Railed by Sabrina Cross is a sentient toy train romance. Aubry didn’t plan on buying anything from Retro Whimsy that day, but the owners seem to know exactly what you need… Now she’s gotta figure out how to help her new found friends break their god curse!

Sentient Object Romances are not for everyone, but they’re definitely for me. I really enjoyed this short story! I love sentient object romances because they always are ridiculous concepts that just make sense in the story. The weirder the better! Getting Railed by Sabrina Cross executed the ridiculousness perfectly and had a really good plot.

If you love Sentient Object Romances then I 100% recommend this story!

Sometimes, you just need some straight smut with puns, and this delivers. I needed something that would take my mind off things for a while, and this one was exactly that. I loved all the buns and the relatability that the FMC was a book reader.

Aubry walks into a vintage store in Old Town by chance, little did she know it would change everything. She ends up leaving the store with a train set that she had no intentions on purchasing.

I read book 5 first and then came back to start the rest of the series because it was so good. This book did not disappoint! I LOVED it! So far each book I’ve read, I’ve wished for it to be longer because I just loved the characters so much.
This story was 99.9% spice and .01% plot. These short stories are quite literally pulling me out of a mental funk.

This was a recommended read for something unconventionally fun. It was predictable with the direction the story was alluding to, but there were parts I did not see coming.

Getting Railed is a quick read perfect for a palette cleanser between longer reads.

This is a sentient object romance, so having an open is definitely required! Future readers, please be sure to consider the trigger warnings before reading. Enjoy!

This was everything I hoped it would be.

I honestly had no idea what to expect going into this one, but a friend recommended it so I took the leap. This is my first sentient romance and boy did it deliver! It was sixty-something pages of smutty goodness.
Three men are cursed and turned into trains. Aubrey saves them, can you guess how 😏🤭. Honestly it was a pallet cleanser that had me equal parts giggling and fanning myself.

this was… intriguing. this was also not my first object romance book, which i highly recommend reading bc they are a fun ride. i saw this cover, i read the blurb, i thought to myself “what the hell”. u don’t get just 1 toy train. u don’t even get 2 toy trains. u get 3 toy trains that turn into men AFTER she “uses” them on herself. i pretty much expected everything i read except the ending. but i mean most of the book was pretty excellent for a sentient object book.

2026:

"I hadn't planned on getting turned on by a book about a demon teddy bear..."

Read as a bookish besties unhinged book challenge, I went into this book totally blind and just hoped for the best.
The storyline wasn't particularly complex. No world building and minimal character development.
It was one quick, steamy, why choose read.
Good for something totally different and a bit of a laugh.

This book was an unexpected delight to read. I’ve honestly never thought of toy trains being used off their tracks. The number of parts and crevices alone are enough to question feasibility and safety. HOWEVER, for the sake of magic and romance, I suppose I’m game. This book was fun and satisfying. The ending gave me warm fuzzies and I can see myself reading this again.
