Fey Lords #4

Fey Sovereignty

Rate this book
Falling in love is not part of my mission.

I’m undercover as the pet of a fey prince.

The fey have conquered Earth. Getting rid of them is impossible, but putting someone on their throne who is more amenable, is not.

Prince Llywelyn Y Mabinogi is very keen on overthrowing his brother, and very welcoming of human help.

He is vain, arrogant, obnoxious. Not too bright. In short, he is the perfect candidate.

So here I am, in the midst of the fey court. Pretending to be his pet so I can see all, hear all. Learn all.

But I’m learning things I never expected.

Such as Llywelyn being not at all what he seems.

I’ve never met someone so lonely. So touch-starved. So needy.

He has terrible screaming nightmares about someone called Iestyn.

So many secrets I need to uncover. But some things are becoming clear.

Years as a Special Agent haven’t totally frozen my heart.

And being a prince doesn’t save you.

Fey Sovereignty is a sizzling MM paranormal romance containing enemies to lovers, forced proximity, only one bed, undercover, a redemption arc, ‘he needs me’, and a secret relationship.

Happily ever after is guaranteed.

Each book in the Fey Lords series follows a different couple. This means each book can be enjoyed as a standalone. However, this book redeems a villain from the previous books, so will be more fun if the other books have been read (Especially Fey Regency).

this is definitely the best in the series yet. the romance is decent, the plot is less wild, and llywelyn is the most adorable ever. as a bonus, there are significantly less dubcon/noncon scenes!! great, i know.

there are still some plot problems (llywelyn was like "i don't want to be subservient to you" and absolutely nothing in the dynamic changed 🤨) and the ending was diabolical bc llywelyn never told his brothers the truth, so was he going to leave them thinking he was plotting against them...? insane.

booksirens arc, honest review 🙇‍♀️

my poor Llywelyn deserved better. Ethan was infuriating🙄 & such a clueless dumbass especially(!!) for a *highly trained special (secret) agent* smh
i love this series but this book felt like such a wasted potential.
on a happier note, my sweetest Dyfri was shining in this book too <3 qwq

i thought i could write a decent review once i let this story sink in a bit more after finishing it but i just can't- so here's some additional rambling:

i'm still mad how mistreated Llywelyn was most of the time during this book - especially by Ethan!! he pissed me of so much😭 don't get me wrong, i'm soo happy Llywelyn got his very best happy ending that suits him the best, the way he always dreamed, and that he got cherished & taken care of & loved in the end - by Ethan, yes.. like good for them, Llywelyn deserves whoever he wants, let them be happy wohooo!! however!! during like 70% of the story Ethan was driving me mad😠 it also did not help that the story was only told by him, i found it challenging to read his thoughts & not to roll my eyes or facepalm.. i literally needed to stop reading to take a note saying i really don't like Ethan🙃 what also made me sad was the fact that his character was such a missed opportunity as quite honestly, he put shame to all special agents (i have some faves & he doesn't even come 1% close to any of them),, Ethan was supposed to be a trained secret agent but he was just so clueless, didn't observe anything or if he did he misinterpreted them🤦🏻‍♀️

maybe it was my own fault for trying to take this book too seriously.. ik i've refered to this series as some silly fun reads despite some dark(ish) themes/elements which are still true imo, i just couldn't help wanting for something more this time.. nevertheless, i'm super eager to see how the series will continue, i still love the tight family vibes, how the fey brothers have each other's back - even if they can't fully show it (all the time).. also my sweetest Dyfri keeps surprising me & i keep falling for him, i really hope his book will do him justice🤞 he deserves all the best!!! but also he's so damn badass!!🖤🔥👀

I'm going to be really honest here... I looked forward to this novel the most, considering how mysterious the author made Llywelyn seem. And don't get me wrong, I fell in love with Loo-loo, and Ethan was very kind to him. It's just that... after all that build-up, the plot felt lacking. Loo-loo has A LOT of secrets, and they were all very conveniently revealed as the plot progressed, yet none of them were resolved. The author opened all these roads, and it all led to NOWHERE in this novel. I HOPE that we get to see more of Llywelyn in the future books since he may have gotten his happy ending romantically, but he deserves love from others as well.

It was revealed he was groomed and manipulated, but nothing came of it. This is Llywelyn's novel, he's the main character, so I expected AT LEAST THAT to get closure or for him to help himself. What happened next? His eldest brother banishes him (almost executes him before Jamie intervenes) and his status gets revoked. Some might argue that he doesn't really want the throne, and that the title of prince was forced upon him. Well, the injustice of it all has me feeling very unsatisfied and I fear the last few chapters just brought me heartache, feeling bitter instead of bittersweet.

The author is probably building up the plot for the last two novels, and I will definitely tune in for Dyfri's because his plot's been cooking since the first novel, but for now, Selwyn's upcoming novel will primarily be me looking for any mentions of Loo-loo.

I just can't get over the fact that this plot STILL has him veiled. Yes, we as readers now know that Llywelyn is a good person (or at the very least, morally gray), but none of the characters truly got to know him. They might throw that tidbit in the remaining novels, but it won't be the same because it's NOT his novel and it won't have the same impact. We're most likely going to experience the reveal from either Laurie (Selwyn's partner) or Dyfri's partner, and they won't ever know Loo-loo as well as the author portrayed Ethan to know him, leading to the audience not connecting as strongly as they could have. Or if they feel anything, I won't be able to think of it as empathy, just sympathy.

Don't get me wrong, Llywelyn is not perfect, and he's done a lot of bad things. His way of going about his plans were really skewed, all because of Iestyn and the loveless court he was raised in. I expect what "he" did to Dyfri would cause a lot of drama, which is why I understand the author's choice to withhold a conclusion there, but come on! He has so many secrets, so many problems, would it hurt to want at least one of those to be resolved? And I'm talking for self-fullfilment and self-love purposes, which is why I'm not speaking on his relationship with Ethan. I'm a firm believer that you can't wholeheartedly love someone else if you don't love yourself first. Loo-loo won't be able to heal, he'll still have nightmares, many insecurities, and a truck-load of possible guilt even under that lovely cottage home they're living in. Dare I say it'll lead to a potentially unhealthy codependent relationship if they don't seem help, especially when most of what agonises Loo-loo is psychological.

Overall, I loved the plot, and I devoured the novel as soon as I remembered its release. Llywelyn has been my favorite character in this series, tied with Dyfri. I read the novel in one sitting, that's how much I love him as a character, flawed as he is. Maybe that's why reading this also stung. Banished from his land, no status, still has a strained relationship with his brothers, and only one person is there for him even after all those traumatic experiences.

I really hope that we get to see more of Llywelyn in the later novels, as this just feels lacking and so heart-breaking. I acknowledge that rooting for "the bad guy" or even the anti-hero has a higher possibility of not ending well, but I still took the plundge. Gosh, I really do think he deserves better than what he ended up with. This novel was supposed to be the time to tell HIS story, side character or not.

Llewelyn’s story is here! Ethan works for an “agency” that wants to dethrone the crown prince. Llewelyn is a younger fey prince that seems to be Ethan’s ticket to finally take down the Prince.

Like the other books in the series, this book has a crazy amount of drama and fey shenanigans. Something I liked about this book is that the actual plot and motivations of the characters were a lot more prominent in the story. Though the motivations of characters was sometimes unclear, it is undeniable that these characters will always keep you guessing.

Llewelyn was such a sweetheart. Though he sometimes gave me whiplash with the way he acted, he was so sweet. I enjoyed reading his character development and story. Ethan was just fine for me, I didn’t really get a strong impression from him, even though the story is told from his point of view.

Something I’ve noticed about these books is that the characters have such a strong impression when they are the main couple in the book, but as side characters, their personalities and influence in the story is not as strong. This has pros and cons, as it means that you really get a deep focus on the main couple of each book, however, the loveable characters that you need in each book aren’t quite as influential. I will say, though, I am so excited to read Dyfri’s book, and I’m fairly certain that it will be the last one in the series. The Way that the author has built up his character throughout the series has really got me interested.

Overall, I did enjoy this book, and I stand by what I said about the third book. These books are really addicting.

This book was WAY better than I expected at the beginning. Llywelyn and Ethan were kinda jerks, and I tend to like books more when I like the MCs and root for their HEA.
They totally grew on me and their HEA was really satisfying!

It was a nice story and I liked it, but it didn't feel like it really got anywhere?

Like, yes, they fall in love and the prince had trauma, but it didn't feel like anything happened to help him overcome that, also the overall plot didn't play much of a role here.

Mainly we see that fey are still bad, the brothers don't care much about him and there's lots of smut.

I feel like there should have been more communication between the brothers and the whole under-cover part felt a little pointless as they were mostly only the two of them and there was no need to play a part then.

This book!
This is definitely the one with the biggest bittersweet ending of the series for me. I actually devoured the book in 15 hours (no jokes) and finished the read at 1a.m. And I couldn't sleep. Thinking about this ending that was satisfying for the main couple...but seemed so unfair on so many levels for me that it actually made me cry a little bit (and I'm still crying a bit while writing this review).

I'm so glad that the author gave us the possibility to not only glimpse, but to see how Llywelyn really was. And I wasn't disappointed. Ethan and Llywelyn were able to find in each other the missing piece they didn't know to miss. The author included some omegaverse traits in this book and I REALLY enjoyed how it was portrayed, not overly exaggerating things, bringing just the right amount of elements to understand everything, but not too much so it'll revolve only around sex.

I gave this book 5 stars with no hesitation, the only reason that I maybe thought to give 4 was because of that ending and the implications that go with it, because I have bittersweet endings. But let's face it : it coulnd't end any other way and the couple got the happy ending they deserved. That's the most important part (I'll put my morals to the back of my mind and rate this book properly, so 5 stars it is).

Now about the ending, it'll spoil a little bit from here on, so if you don't want to read any spoilers, stop here please!

WHY?!! I understand why but...WHY??!!
Llywelyn couldn't get the peaceful life that he deserved any other way, but I feel like it was so, god SO unfair. The banishment gave him the excuse to live a happy and cozy life with his loved one, the life that he was destined to live from the beginning, but didn't get because he's a fey AND a prince. So he was forget to be who he is but...he gave EVERYTHING he has for his family.
And they don't even know it. Banishing him. It was a way to spare his life, yes, because he was about to be executed (and in from of Ethan gosh) but...still. It's bitter sweet.
I feel like no one really knows how he did all of that to protect his family, that he was extremely loyal. And now he's just...gone. Never to come back. He took a bullet for Tristan and died!! LIKE WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM MY POOR BABY??!! and still, he got judged in from of his brothers and banished. Like that. Poof.
I really, REALLY hope that in the future book we'll get a mention somewhere that the brothers were all aware of what he did and that the banishment was their way to free him from the court and let him live his peaceful omega life with his mate. That they acknowledged Llywelyn efforts and that they hope he's happy. It will put some balm to my heart.
Because if they just banished him and discarded him like a dirty sock...I'll really cry. Like really. Full sobs and mental breakdown.

ANYWAYs, thanks for sticking with me trough my mental breakdown above and I hope you'll enjoy or have enjoyed this book as much as I have! LOTS OF LOVE!

LOO-LOO… SWEET ANGEL. 💛💛💛 I cannot emotionally recover... I knew, just knew there was so much more than meets the eye with him. I hate to say it but Llywelyn is my new favorite (I am so very sorry Mabon, I love you too but come on it’s Loo-Loo). Every time a new secret or new layer to Llywelyn was exposed I just wanted to wrap him up in a ginormous blanket and hide him away.

Ethan was such a sweet protector. His internal struggle throughout was understandable, even if I wanted to scream at him to try harder to put the pieces together. You finally did and I am so glad Llywelyn had you to be there for him.

S. Rodman always sprinkles little hints as to the plot for the next books and I CANNOT WAIT for Selwyn’s story. If you read Unfettered Vessel then you know who his intended is… I just know it’s gonna be a good story. If you haven’t read the Unfettered and Freed series, you should. Actually, you should read all of S. Rodman’s books, you won’t be disappointed. 💛

I think I need a support group for these books. Maybe a recovery group? The secrets that came out in this book have my mind reeling. I could hyperfixate all day. The hangover is real.

Fey Sovereignty is darker than the rest of the Fey Lords series so far. Take two MCs who both act morally very dark grey to begin with, place them in close proximity to one another, add a dash of dislike and and you have a pretty toxic start to a relationship. At times both Ethan and Llywelyn can be cruel or callous - Ethan is particularly willing to kick Llywelyn when he is down at the start - and with Llywelyn being so mysterious and closed lipped it’s easy to judge him for how he acts in public and what we see of him in the other Fey Lords books before the layers get peeled away and we learn all of his secrets and intentions.

Because breaking news everyone, Llywelyn, it turns out, is babygirl and I will never hear another bad word said about him! He is my bae, I am rotating him in my mind, I want to burrito him in all the blankets and give him a thousand forehead kisses. You are not ready for the many heartbreaking, breathtaking reveals you are about to experience from our sweet baby Llywelyn! My flabbers were ghasted!

Ethan can be his big strong srs business protector even though I still haven’t forgiven him for carrying on for far too long with the whole idea of using Llywelyn as a puppet for the humans. I wanted to shake him! Bad Ethan. Protect your good boy!

As always, S. Rodman produces a plot that keeps the paranoia high because nobody is allowed to be happy in the Fey Court without really going through it. Sez has a brilliant way of writing darker scenes (CW for noncon and dubcon, and past child grooming experienced by one of the MCs) which allow you to experience the characters’ discomfort and horror without being overly explicit or glorifying these behaviours.

The relationship, as it starts to blossom into clingy and sweet love is so well done and I adored Ethan and Llywelyn together. The spice was also wonderful and plentiful!

Overall I loved this emotionally complex and at times devastating addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next book! Ideally read this series in order, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark romance, hurt/(sometimes) comfort, political intrigue, or hate to love.

Dee’s Grade: Incomplete

This book is very difficult for me to rate. Taken at face value as a PNR story it’s fine. It meets what I expect of the short little PNR books.

It’s the whole misunderstood broken boy finds someone who loves him exactly as he is thing that I eat up.

There are two aspects of the story that just don’t sit right with me though.

Spoilers below read with caution

1) The authors choice to make the MMC whose POV the story is in Black biracial is unwise and unnecessary since he was white coded anyway. This character in a world where chattel slavery existed chooses to go undercover as a pet/slave. When the character is having issues with it he justifies it by saying the master isn’t real a white man but a Fae. In private the pet doesn't have to act like a slave and he’s the Dom so I guess that’s supposed to make it better. Then in a world where Black people are subjected to having our beauty based on European beauty standards. This character goes on and on about pale skin being so beautiful and all of these other characters being so beautiful compared to him. This was strange to because in the other books in the series it’s mentioned how eating the Fae food makes the characters the most beautiful version of themselves several times. That’s never mentioned about Ethan. I just found that making the character Black over complicated things unnecessarily.

2) The other MMC is a survivor of grooming and long term sexual assault. While the grooming is mentioned several times. There’s no real healing or resolution other than the magic healing properties of peen. This is another common thing in these books most of the characters are survivors of sexual assault but it feels like a plot device especially in this book because it’s not handled in any meaningful way. The character refers to his abuser as his lover for most of the book and only stops when he transfers that love to another. It’s never acknowledged that he understands the atrocities committed against him.

This installment of the Fey Lords series was very challenging for me to get through. I had a lot of mixed emotions about it. Before I continue, I want to clarify that I don't feel this way because of the writing, grammar, or the plot of the book itself. It has more to do with my preferences in relation to story tropes. I am not a big fan of characters having pretend or fake relationships. I struggle with relationships being established on lies, even when it changes throughout the story.

On the flip side, I loved the ending for both Ethan and Prince Llywelyn Y Mabinogi. They both seemed to need it. One paragraph in particular struck a cord with me, and it completely changed my perspective of Llywelyn. I initially disliked him, but I started rooting for him after learning about his past. The section that I am referring to is " He doesn’t want glory. Or flattery and favours and shallow attention. He is desperate to be included and seen. He is craving a sense of belonging. He is longing for a chance to prove himself worthy. Llywelyn doesn’t want power. He just wants to be loved". I know that so many people, including me, tend to mask their feelings or put on an act and change themselves in an effort to fit in. This book really served as a good reminder that sometimes, if a person is acting out of the ordinary or doing something that seems odd, it could be a sign that something else is going on or that they are struggling. To me, this book had a different vibe than the others. It is worth the read, even if the serious topics and trigger warnings felt intense or a bit overwhelming at times.

I was given an ARC of this book for free, but I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and opinions of it.

Oh, this one broke my heart in the best and worst ways. We already caught a glimpse of the real Llywelyn in the end of Fey Regency (the previous book in the series), but seeing the full truth of him was still a gut punch.

When Ethan (the narrator) enters the picture, he’s a hardened agent prepared to do whatever it takes for the sake of humankind. It’s frustrating, if understandable, to see Ethan miss or purposefully ignore the first signs of Llywelyn’s trauma. He’s so determined to see him as a manipulatable villain that he is downright cruel at first, which feels like a knife twist when we know fairly quickly that Llywelyn is already struggling.

But, of course, Ethan is not a complete blockhead (thankfully!) and despite his stubbornness and dedication to his mission he’s not actually a terrible person. How’s long can you ignore what’s right in front of you, after all?

While I enjoyed watching them come to understand each other, the sweetest parts for me were simply seeing Llywelyn get the love and comfort he so desperately needs and Ethan allowing himself to appreciate him.

Without spoilers, the book ended in a satisfying way—although I can’t wait for the bonus chapter to come out (on the author’s website) because I need MORE. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing these two in the last couple books of the series, and I can’t wait!

I am obsessed with this series and have loved every single book thus far and the same with this one with the exception of Ethan.
I felt like for a special agent of sorts, he was very much lacking in the knowledge or understanding of the customs and ways of the fey. Shouldn't he have been trained on all of their laws, dressing and such? I felt like after he informed us of the ear piercing, he kind of lost all information. I also felt he was super harsh with Llywelyn when, again, he seemed to be lacking in information about their customs and treated him with his human ones. I mean, don't get me wrong. I loved seeing our sad boy get his HEA but was Ethan really the best for the job? 🤣

I. LOVED. LLYWELYN.
SO damn much.
“I was a resyn at the time of the presentation. Nobody should have seen anything.”
BOOM.
I am a bit sad that we didn't get more information about the omega part here and although we *knew* it was a heat, we only got one! GAH.
But seeing him fall apart whenever Ethan touched him? HOLY. I absolutely LOVED seeing him beg for his touch when Ethan finally realized what sex was like for Llywelyn and the trauma he endured with it. How he finally helped Loo Loo (😭😭) see what being actually touched by someone who cares and how wonderful sex is supposed to feel.

Also, I can just feel that my favorite, my BABY Dyfri's book is going to be last but HOLY will it be an absolute BANGER.

I received a copy of this book from BookSirens and this is my honest review.

Great continuation

I loved this so much! I have enjoyed every book in this series, but this one is my favorite so far.

The themes for this series are dark as is much of what S. Rodman writes but I always say he writes them in a way that while they make you feels things for the situation and the characters nothing feels unnecessary and it's not written in a way that's traumatic for the reader. Nothing that has gone on in this world is a trigger for me so maybe take that with a grain of salt.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts are honest and my own.

I really enjoyed the dynamic and the way that Ethan became a "pet", it's almost like a dark twist on fake dating and I liked that both people knew up front what the deal was.

Llywelyn is a sweet baby angel that needs to be protected at all costs and I will hear no slander against him.

I really liked that as Ethan's perception of Llywelyn changed so did ours and I liked the reveals behind his behaviors (especially if it pertained to events that happened in previous books)

I really liked when the prince's were all together, would love to see more scenes like that in the future. (Or like a bonus scene flashback because iykyk)

Not to give too much away, I understand why the end happened the way it did and I both loved it and was also a little sad by it but I can't say why without spoiling lol

I can't wait for the next book and am intrigued as to how it's going to go as this series and the Unfettered series start to merge.

So I decided to go on a crash course with this series and devoured the whole lot in just under a week. Every single book left me wanting more. I could’ve had another 200, another 300 pages of being immersed in each couple. I loved learning about all the nuances of the Fey court that they’ve set up in Buckingham palace and all the intricacies of the Fey brothers relationships - especially with each other.

Every single book totally sucked me in but none so much as this one. The way Llywelyn’s character was built into a villain in the first 2 books and then we started to peak through the curtains a little during book 3, leading us into this one where we discover all (or most) of his secrets really pulled at my heart-strings. There’s nothing I love more than a misunderstood boy 🥹

I honestly kind of hated Ethan for the first half of the book. I just wanted everyone to be nice to little Loo-loo and it made me really cross when he was thinking of him so harshly.
From about the 75-80% I spent most of my time sobbing my eyes out. Things did not look good for a while there.
Thankfully Ethan and Llwelyn got their happy ending or else I might have staged a riot because no one deserves it more than that sweet boy.

I’m definitely team Loo-loo now and I honestly don’t know how I’m going to hold myself together waiting for the next instalment. I’m so curious to find out more about Dyfri which (because authors are meanie mean faces) will be the last book in the series. There seems like there is much more to him than meets the eye.

Llywelyn is standing by the window. Alone. Did he really open the curtains himself? He doesn’t seem the type. I’m surprised he even chews his own food.
• Fey Prince x Human Pet
• Enemies to Lovers
• Secrets + intrigue
• Hurt/comfort
• Dark romantasy
• Trigger warning: dubcon

How Rodman consistently manages to write MCs who initially make me loathe them with every fibre of my being, only to have me slowly fall in love with them and have my heart ache for them, over and over again, I will never know. Prince Llywelyn Y Mabinogi is - like most of the fey - a fairly robustly unpleasant person by human standards, with little to no concept of consent and living comfortably in a world where cruelty and abuse are so common as to be unremarkable.Over the previous books in the series (which I really do recommend you read first), we've seen plenty of nasty power plays by this prince in particular, so how is he going to be redeemed?! Well there's literally nothing I can say on that without massive spoilers, but I will say I kicked my heels with glee AND cheered with joy for him in the end.
As soon as we are alone, I am putting this obnoxious princeling in his place. I am not his slave. We are colleagues. And colleagues do not go around ordering non-consensual butt waxes.

OMG, I just want to wrap Llywelyn in the biggest hug ever and never let go! He comes across as this arrogant, obnoxious prince, but really he's a total sweetheart with an absolutely tragic past. He 100% deserves his HEA, and I'm so glad he got it with Ethan.

I would definitely say watch trigger warnings with this one. It's a bit dark and there is some dub/non con. There is some great heat and spicy scenes, especially later in the book. There's also plenty of court politics and interesting interactions. I was surprised we didn't see more of the other pets. Based on previous books, I expected to see them interacting a lot more with Ethan, and they were all super concerned about Llywelyn at the end of the last book.

I really think this book would work best when the series is read in order. It could "technically" be read as a stand alone, but there are some ongoing plots and I think having the background of the characters is important.

This is probably one of my favorites of the series. I absolutely loved Llywelyn's redemption arc. I didn't love the ending (he totally deserved better!) but at least our MCs got their HEA. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series

I received an ARC of this book from BookSirens and this is my honest review

I wasn’t sure how S Rodman was going to redeem Llewelyn so was quite intrigued before I began reading this book. It takes you instantly into the action – a secret agent has accepted a new mission as the pet of Llewelyn, with a plan to usurp the throne and get the Fey out of power. It should have been a simple task for Ethan, but from the very beginning Llewelyn didn’t meet his expectations.

It was interesting learning more about the rules and regulations that rule Fey society, although some of them are incredibly barbaric. I was fascinated by Llewelyn’s secret and the way he behaved with Ethan. It was truly heartbreaking learning his ‘romantic’ history and how he had been used and abused – no wonder it messed with Ethan’s perceptions of him. This was a story about finding someone who accepts all of you and Llewelyn has definitely earned his happily ever after. I really wasn’t sure how they were going to get there in the end – things seemed impossible, with the heartbreaking disconnect between Llewelyn and his brothers, spies within court and Ethan’s agency hovering in a menacing fashion. I really enjoyed how Rodman managed to get these two their happily ever after – it made my little romantic heart sigh with happiness!

This book was so good that I read it in a single night. I was wondering how the author was going to be able to redeem Llywelyn. He seemed like a remorseless monster. But after reading this book and hearing about all the horrible things Llywelyn went through, I just felt for him. This book was a difficult read for me. In fact, this whole Fae series is. The Fae have such cruel customs and it just makes me want to shake some decency into everyone in that stupid Court. Poor Llywelyn. He had a rough life. I’m so glad that he got his happily ever after with Ethan. Llywelyn deserves love and I’m so glad that Ethan finally wised up and took care of his sweet boy. He had better continue to do so.

This book had a lot of ups and downs but the sweetness factor made it so worth it. Llywelyn is such a sweetheart and it turns out, he’s very protective of his brothers. He would do anything for them, even at the cost of himself. Llywelyn might very well be the sweetest out of all the brothers, as weird as that might seem. Don’t believe me? Then read this book! You won’t regret it.

Happy Reading!

I had an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. And I enjoyed every book in this series, this one was no exception. I had fun. I wanted to know what happened next. I was invested in the characters.
The only way I can think of to describe this book is "slave fic". Which it isn't, because it's not fanfic, but then again, the "fic" part stands for fiction, not fan.
It's an insta-love, or at least insta-lust, which I don't like all that much, but that's just me. And everything after that is great, meaning chapter 2 and onwards.
I loved the LI, Llewellyn, and the main character spends the entire novel talking about him. The author is great at making you feel and empathize with him, I wanted to keep him safe even more than the MC by the end of the novel. The MC himself is supposed to be a top secret agent, but he seems too incompetentto ever pull it off. I definitely would've liked to see more of the court intrigue/secret mission part of the plot. Even then, the plot doesn't feel slow or empty. It's fast and it changes directions multiple times, so I never saw the ending coming.

Fey Sovereignty - Flame of Hope

‘He holds himself as stiff as a statue in my embrace. Then he awkwardly places his arms around me. “I know what this is!” he says excitedly. “I’ve seen Jamie give them. This is a hug!” My eyes scrunch tight as agony squeezes my heart. Oh my f god. My arms tighten around him. I don’t want to let him go. I want to abandon my mission and assign myself a new one. One that I could pledge myself to with all my heart and soul. One I could embrace as my new religion. To keep Llywelyn safe at all costs.’

Llywelyn has something simmering beneath his fey royalty robes, and his undercover human accomplice, Ethan, must balance his life long work ethic with his emotionally growing attachment, in S. Rodman’s Fey Sovereignty, book 4 in the steamy Fey Lords series.

As each brother, in the new royal fey government, becomes entwined in their London hosted world, we have seen a depth of love that readers will embrace. Following the secretive reason for Ethan to pose as Llywelyn’s newest pet, we learn that there is so much more afoot and dreams of a different life might possibly come true!

It intensifies more and more with each book. I can't find the right words, because it's unbelievable how much I'm captivated by the stories. I usually have tears in my eyes because at first glance the court is cruel and cold, but then there is so much emotion burning under the surface.

I feel like this book challenged me in a very different way. Even now that I've read the last few lines, so much is still resonating that I'm sure I'll pick it up again very soon, because I don't think I've grasped everything yet. The intrigues, entanglements, and threads are subtle, sometimes inconspicuous, and yet they become clearer. But I have no illusions, I'm sure I haven't figured out S. Rodman yet. The suspense eats me up, thank you very much.

Now the quintessence: so clearly recommended reading, and I warn you right now, because you will lose your heart, it will break, it will beat, it will pound, it will rage. Read it!

And I'll start again with volume 1, because it's not the first time that I read books by S. Rodman over and over again. There are only a few authors who manage to enchant me so much that the stories never let me go.

Once again, S Rodman brings us to Buckingham Palace and the Fae Court. To human eyes, the Court is a dark and sometimes, cruel, cold place to be. Fae Sovereignty, more than the earlier stories, really shows the reader the juxtaposition of the Fae and human courts. This was the hardest Fae Lords story to read. Fake boyfriends can be a fun trope, but this was a really, really dark take on it. The plots and twists, arghhh.

In the beginning neither Ethan nor Llywelyn were sympathetic characters. But underneath the masks and lies were truly adorable men. I am hoping that Rhydian learns the truth and the brothers can reunite. Llywelyn deserves justice.

Selwyn's book seems like the next up. And finally, finally…. Dyfri.

I liked how the HEAs for the brothers were perfect for them. But I did feel Llywelyn's and Ethan's was not satisfactory. They deserve better.

Not a terribly quick read. I kept going back to the earlier books for reference. This wasn't, as far as I'm concerned, a stand alone. A stand out? Oh, definitely.

Fourth in series (Fey Lords), must be read in order. Paranormal fantasy. Forced proximity. Single POV. Heed content warnings.

Ethan has been sent on an undercover mission to help elevate Prince Llywelyn and overthrow his older brother, but being the human pet of an arrogant fey is not what Ethan expected. Ethan doesn’t understand Llywelyn and his attitude and contradictory actions are confusing, let alone Ethan is very attracted to Llywelyn.

It is sometimes hard with single POV to feel the romance but I give some leeway for this and we certainly see Ethan’s feelings rollercoaster through disgust and hatred to empathy and love. Llywelyn is an interesting character and we discover so much about his motivations and past actions so he definitely becomes a sympathetic character and I was rooting for Ethan to finally treat Llywelyn the way he deserved. The political machinations at the fey court are still at times confusing, but I am definitely invested in the royal family and how the overarching plotline will continue to unravel. This was a fun addition to the series. 4.5 rounded up

I am obsessed with this series! It’s the perfect blend of omegas, aliens, magic, drama, and action. Each book just pulls me deeper into this wild, imaginative world.

Prince Llywelyn Y Mabinogi is such a fascinating character. Initially painted as the outcast of his royal family, we slowly uncover the truth. He’s not cruel—he’s wounded. Watching him get ignored and dismissed by his brothers and the other Feys broke my heart. He’s complex, sweet, and so deeply misunderstood.

Then there’s Ethan, the agent sent to infiltrate the palace by posing as Llywelyn’s pet. The tension, the stakes, the chemistry, it all builds in such a satisfying, emotional way. Their dynamic is everything I love in a story.

I have so many unanswered questions and am now officially on the hunt for the bonus scene because I need more! I can’t wait to see what comes next in this universe. If you love fantasy l you need to dive into this series immediately!

I absolutely loved LLewellyn! His character broke my heart so many times as I discovered who he truly is and what had been done to him.
Ethan was a good character who couldn't help but fall for Llewellyn.
I enjoyed the slow developing connection between our MC's, how they evolved their roles to suit their needs, found a surprising love for one another despite the circumstances, and managed to get the perfect HEA (after making me cry!)
There is so much intrigue and deception throughout this book. There is an overarching plot going on throughout this series and Llewellyn seemed to be a large part of it - mainly from his association with Iestyn - so I wonder how that will progress after this book. I really wish Llewellyn had been able to tell his brothers the truth of all that he knew and that he had done.
I would have preferred this book to be dual pov because I feel there is so much more to discover about Llewellyn.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. It is part of a series and should be read in order.

I received an ARC from BookSirens, this is my honest opinion.

After the end of the last book, I had definitely changed my opinion of Llywelyn and this story confirmed I was right; he was such a sweetheart underneath all that front and there were twists I didn't see coming in some of the secrets he eventually revealed. I felt like I went through the wringer a bit with these two. I loved Llywelyn but it took a bit for Ethan to really get his head in the right place. He was a bit too clueless at reading the signs and then actually doing something about it. The 'mission' seemed like a desperate bid of his to not have to face the situation in real time. I did think they had great chemistry and, as a couple, they certainly grew on me. I didn't see the ending coming but I enjoyed the HEA they got. I'm looking forward to Selwyn next so I hope the wait isn't too long! Overall, a great fantasy mm romance with plenty of twists, turns and treachery. I'd recommend reading the rest of the series first for the most enjoyment.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I really loved “Fey Sovereignty!” I went into it expecting to enjoy it… as I did the others in this series… but what really pulled me in was the emotional depth and slow-burn romance. Watching the hardened, no-nonsense Special Agent slowly unravel around Prince Llywelyn was so satisfying. Llywelyn starts off as this ridiculous, vain fey prince, but the layers that get peeled back? Gut-wrenching. He’s not just a pretty face—he’s haunted, deeply lonely, and honestly kind of heartbreaking.

The dynamic between them—forced proximity, the whole “pretending to be a pet” setup—sounds wild, but it works so well. There’s tension, heat, banter, and eventually real tenderness. And let’s be honest, I’m a sucker for a good redemption arc, and this one nailed it.

If you’re into slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers with a heavy dose of emotional payoff and some sizzling chemistry, I can’t recommend this enough. Definitely a standout in the Fey Lords series.
