This novella is part of the Extreme Measures series and comes after Life Flight.
Flight Nurse Practitioner, Holly Cooper, has an enemy who wants her gone from the hospital one way or another. She and her fiancé, Detective Andy McKittrick are “taking a break”, and a patient has died under mysterious circumstances. Life is complicated at the moment so when she’s attacked, her friends—and “on hold” fiancé come to the rescue. Andy may have his issues, but he’s never stopped loving Holly. When he hears someone is out to get her, he races to her side. Can they find a killer before the killer succeeds in sending Holly six feet under?

Code Trauma is book 1.5 in the Extreme Measures Series and tells the story of Holly and Andy and how they reconnect after Andy needed space due to the death of his partner.
I loved how these two reconnected and how they showed their emotions with each other and how having someone come after Holly really put their relationship into perspective. This is Christian Fiction and elements of personal relationships with God are portrayed.
Also, I really enjoyed reconnecting with Penny & Raina from Book 1 as they were some of my favorite characters.
This books is the perfect definition of a novella at around 87 pages and I found it to be a quick read. I definitely hope to see more of Holly & Andy in future books. The only downside to the entire story is I was able to quickly guess the stalker but that did not affect my feelings on the book at all!
If you love romantic suspense with that moves at a faced past and a great friend group then give this one a try!
Nurse Practitioner Holly Cooper has been getting notes for the last two weeks. Even since the threats had started, notes have been left on her windshield at her job, her home mailbox, and even in her locker at her job.
The notes she was getting had been written on them: "Leave and don't come back. You're not wanted here. Go away."
She reported these incidents to the sheriff, he would look into the notes that she had been receiving.. But he had come up empty-handed. She also let the hospital security know about the notes.
But one person she hadn't told was her fiancé, Detective Andy McKittrick, as they deal with a mysterious death and a potential enemy targeting Holly. Detective Andy McKittcik was dealing with the death of his partner, who was gunned down in a shootout.
Fast-paced read that kept me turning the pages to find out who was doing this to her. If you love mystery, suspense, and some romance. Lynette Eason is one of my favorite authors,
When Andy's partner was killed at a club shooting, Holly wanted nothing more than to be there for him. Instead, Andy pushed her away and now her thought's of wedding bells are leaning more towards being an old maid. It's not like she doesn't have options, Dr. Mann has asked her out several times, but she's just not interested in dating the hospital player and she still loves Andy. When somebody begins sending Holly threats, Andy goes into high alert. He immediately knows he wants to be with her forever, but now he has to earn her trust again. Can he do it before the threats become more than just words? I'm happy Holly got her moment, since every one else you meet in the series gets one, but I wish she had a longer story. This was an 85 page novella and so the story didn't get to in depth, and I figured out who was making the threats a few pages in.
I don't know if I would have rated this one higher if I hadn't listened to it on Audible, with "Virtual Voice" as the narrator. I've always thought that a good narrator makes a good book great. On the flip side, if you listen to what may have been a good book with a bad narrator, it's ruined. I've actually had bad experiences with subpar narrators, and have switched to the Kindle version because it was the only way I could finish the book (which were actually a decent ones!). Based on this experience, I will not go out of my way to choose a book with a Virtual Voice as the narrator. No change of character voices, or emotion of any kind. It may as well have been being performed by a 3rd grader reading for the class.
Ms Eason has given us a powerful book even though there are few pages. We still have the danger and suspense that goes along with a good mystery. Holly has a stalker. Her detective boyfriend, Andy decided he needed a break after losing his partner. When he learns of her situation, he is the first to step up to try to keep her safe. Be sure to read their story. The only disappointment will be the book is too short so read and enjoy!
What I loved most was how Eason weaved Christianity into this book! Eason wrote wonderfully, and efficiently packed every chapter with action and suspense.
A fast-paced, high-stakes novella that drops you straight into danger from page one.
I was rooting for Holly and Andy in every paragraph! A quick, gripping, adrenaline-filled read. Perfect if you want a bite-sized suspense story with a dash of second-chance romance.
What a quick, fast-paced read that focuses on Holly and Andy. Someone's targeting Holly, wanting her to leave or else. Andy, a detective, starts investigating and protecting her. Great read, although I figured out who was targeting Holly and wanting her to leave. Andy has fears and baggage from his past, which plays a part in their relationship.
This is such a fast little novella read but it was very enjoyable. I liked Andy and Holly and the story was very action packed for something so short. I recommend this one if you’re looking for a quick read that still gives you the full romantic suspense experience. The faith content wasn’t a ton in this one but it was good when it was there.
She is being shadowed and it is interfering with her job as a nurse on the copter.
Holly is being harassed by a doctor and someone is threatening her. She finally reports it to her supervisor and the police. The next thing her missing boyfriend shows up to mend fences and help her because he is worried about the threats.
It was very short, but a lot of action was packed into it. I was suspicious throughout and it turned out I was right! I intended to read straight thru but had many interruptions. Still annoyed the read.
I know it said 1.5, but it needs to be a complete novel. It was intense, cute, funny, and really scary, especially when you did everything right for the right reason. Enjoy.
Absolutely loved this Novella. Lynette Eason is my favorite author anyway, so I knew it would be good, but this was great!!! A quick, fast paced book with just enough mystery and romance to quickly grab your attention!!!
This is listed in the Extreme Measures series as book 1.5, but can honestly be read as a standalone. It’s a short novella focusing on someone who wants Holly gone from the hospital. There is a lot of action packed into the 87 pages.
This is novella so it is a quick, but satisfying, dip into the characters of the Extreme Measures book series. I enjoyed the fast pace of the story. The message of trusting God in the good and bad times was clearly communicated. Loved this book and its characters.
What a terrific read. So much was packed into the story. Heart pounding scenes and, of course, romance seamlessly wove themselves into an intricate plot.
The book itself was good, but I listened to it on Audible and it had an AI generated narrator that was horrible. She pronounced 911 nine hundred and eleven.
