Brynneka Barber has one thing on her mind and that is enjoying her vacation. It's three days into the New Year and she is at a tropical location with her two best friends, Raven and Amira. She has a job that she has fought hard for being one of the few Black female architects in the United States. She is proud of her accomplishments and where her life is right now. So much so that her friends want to use this vacation to celebrate her upcoming promotion at work. When Brynne reminds them that it hasn't been made official yet, they both want to celebrate anyways because they know the job is all hers. While her and her friends are enjoying their pool, a helicopter lands next door. And out comes four handsome men who seem to be looking for some fun and relaxation while on vacation. Thats where she meets Colin. They don't commit to anything but enjoying their immediate attraction to each other. They leave the small stuff behind and just enjoy the time they do have. Not even giving each other full names.
Colin knows that Brynne is the woman he has been waiting his whole life for and when they get back to the States - he will find her. And make her his. And find her he does. When Brynne returns to the real world and work, it is to find out that her tropical fling has just stolen the promotion promised to her. And she must now work with him as her boss. Completely blindsided by the revelation that her Colin is now her boss, she must navigate the dynamics of the anger she feels towards him, coupled with the thought that she is still deeply attracted to him, and craves him.
What ensues is a hilarious and beautiful twist of fate that gives you all the feels. I loved Colin, I hated Colin, I was so happy for Brynne, I was heartbroken for her. My emotions ran the gambit but most of all I enjoyed the laughter. The office snark was amazing and the attraction between Colin and Brynne was palpable. This was my first Evelyn Sola book, and I am absolutely in love. Can't wait to continue a journey with this author.

Excessive, constant, repetitive drama around every corner, with not just the main characters but half the cast, and right from the start. Not to mention the eye-rolling ridiculous plot. Don't waste your time.

Evelyn Sola's "Game Change" is a captivating novel that weaves a complex tale of romance, ambition, and destiny. Set against the backdrop of a sun-soaked island, the story introduces us to Brynne and Colin, two talented architects whose paths cross unexpectedly. Their whirlwind romance is beautifully depicted, capturing the essence of passion and the allure of new beginnings.

The narrative takes an intriguing turn when Brynne discovers that Colin is unexpectedly intertwined in her professional life, leading to a promotion dispute. This revelation sets the stage for a compelling exploration of trust, betrayal, and the intricate dance of office politics. Sola masterfully portrays the emotional turmoil that ensues, making the reader empathize with both Brynne's sense of betrayal and Colin's predicament.

What truly stands out in "Game Change" is the depth of the characters. Brynne and Colin are crafted with such nuance that their struggles and triumphs feel incredibly real. Their undeniable chemistry, contrasted with growing animosity, creates a tension that keeps the reader engaged, eager to see if they can overcome the obstacles fate has thrown their way.

As a fan of Evelyn Sola, I particularly appreciated the connection between this novel and "Cherry's Jubilee." The link between a character in "Game Change" and the main character in "Cherry's Jubilee" adds an enriching layer to the reading experience, offering fans of Sola's work a delightful sense of continuity and shared universe.

In conclusion, "Game Change" is a thoroughly enjoyable read that will resonate with fans of romance and dramatic storytelling. Evelyn Sola's ability to intertwine personal and professional conflicts in a seamless narrative makes this book a must-read. I eagerly anticipate her next work, hoping for more intricate connections and heartfelt stories.

I loved everything about this book! It made me laugh out loud and it brought a tear to my eye. The characters were so well drawn that I felt I knew knew. It was such a good time read.

The story is about Colin and Brynne. They met while they’re both on an island on vacation. They immediately take to each other and start an affair. It was so deep between the two of them that even after they left the island they promise each other to be together.

Then fate steps in and they find out that they’re working for the same company. AND the job and promotion that Brynne thought was hers ends up being Colin’s. This leads to some of the funniest scenes in the book when Heath and Ernestine get involved. It’s also when Colin and Brynne break up.

They eventually come back together but there’s family drama on both sides. Brynne’s stepbrother is an issue and Colin’s uncle and brother are another.

Needless to say, Colin and Brynne get their HEA. The book is such a feel good book that I borrowed from Kindle Unlimited

the arguments were repetitive with milton and colin never truly acknowledging Brynne’s side and it annoyed me because the mc continued developing a relationship while having UNDERSTANDABLE underlying resentment . heath got on my last mf nerves, and the constant jokes about being black made me cringe. ik we had to establish that Brynne was black, but joking about blackness to nonblack people, ESPECIALLY white people, just makes me feel second hand cringe ? what i did enjoy though, is how easy it was to self insert yourself into the book. there was never a definitive skin tone, hair style, hair color, or even height. because of this, Brynne served as a y/n type of character which i found enjoyable .

Uncle Miltey threw a monkey wrench in their plans

Milton Kincaid had plans for Kincaid Architecture. He'd mentored Brynneka Barber for years. She was the most talented and brightest architect he knew. But when his nephew Colin agreed to come home and work for him. The position that was supposed to be Brynne's went to Colin. She felt used and betrayed by both Milton and Colin. Especially after she and Colin met, connected, and spent all of their time together on vacation. Now, Brynne had to reshuffle her plans for her future. But feelings for each other slowly melted that first stone wall she put up. Well, A snowstorm helped too.

I enjoyed reading this story about different family dynamics. Everybody had something to work out with their family. Especially Brynne, dealing with her selfish, entitled brother and his mother. My heart just broke when her mother's house burned. It was the only p!ace she had memories of good times with her family. But there was a difference now, she has Colin to support her. She didn't have to fight her battles alone anymore. With his support and her girlfriends, she has a new loving family. Let's not forget Colin's bro friends and extended family. Ernestine's daughter seems to be hitting it off with Colin's nephew, Heath. That situation was funny. I laughed throughout this story reading the antics of Heath and Ernestine. It seems that Brynne and Colin's relationship has a healing effect on all the families.

👍

First, thank you for the extended epilogue, I looooove when We have a glimpse into their future. 🙌🙌
I love me some Killah , that man checked all the box … from fiiiine, kind, understanding, … etc etc etc …
It’s broke my heart when Brynne wouldn’t believe it and being so «  mean » to him 😝.
Heath is just too much !! lol that kid kept laughing & Ernestine should know better… lol, she was the kid’s entertainment. 😂😂😂
I felt bad for Milton, but he should’ve known better. Glad Brynne finally forgave him, he is not a bad lot, just a « genie » as Lisa said. lol

Great read as always, great characters and storyline !

The book was pretty enjoyable but I have to say it was a bit disappointing how everyone kept acting like the FMC was unreasonable for not wanting to be with the guy who stole her job. Also the way he handled it like she was a child throwing a temper tantrum instead of actually acknowledging it why this was so upsetting for her rubbed me the wrong way. It was like “yeah you got screwed over but I want to date you so get over it.” Idk it was nice that they got together but I wished they’d at least had a solid conversation about why her feelings were valid instead of her having to just accept the disrespect and move on with him

One of my favorite Authors. Books and Genre on point and so good. So Honeybee and 2 BFF’s are on a Caribbean vacation to celebrate the changes going on in their lives. Until a group of four men show up in a helicopter to the Air B&B next door. Stop the presses, if 4 gorgeous men show up in a helicopter in front of me I would pass right out.
Brynne (Honeybee) needs this vac a before starting a new job after 6 years of hard work and sweat.
Uncle Milton is quite particular about his attire. Everyday is dress up day. Full suit, matching shirt, tie, cuff links, shoes and umbrella. Uncle Milton expects his staff to follow suit. Uncle Milton has trained Brynne to take over his architectural company. Except he forgot to tell her he had been sweating his nephew “ Paddy Cake” to keep it all in the rich family.
Colin Kincaid of the Boston Kincaid family goes on vacation to celebrate his upgrade of running his Uncle’s job in Boston. Here’s too-leaving the sandy beaches of San Diego for long, cold winter days and a doomed relationship.
What is the odds of both Brynne and Colin showing up at the same firm after a hella vacation in the Caribbean loving and smooching on each other?
Brynne is hopping mad and so is her assistant Ernestine. Ernestine don’t take no mess. Colin is “Paddy Cake” What in the hell?
Mr. Kincaid just insists that he needs his associate Heathe by his side daily. Heathe is really his nephew but nobody needs to know that.
Heathe and Ernestine go at it daily. Heathe insists that Mr. Kincaid is the boss and this business will be run a certain way. Meanwhile Ernestine insists that Brynne worked for this position an over her dead body will Mr. Alpha and his phony aide dictate the business. Heathe insists Ernestine is a witch so he buys her an old-fashioned Broom.
Fast paced, interracial love story to the very end. Evelyn Sola did not disappoint and she keeps you on your toes until the lady page.

Brynne is on vacation with her girlfriends and she needs to let loose and have fun. Life has been hard for her lately and she needs this break. Milton, her boss has promised her the promotion she has been working so hard for is talking about retiring. She is so excited for this raise & promotion! She meets the handsome man renting the house next to their’s and is feeling things she hasn’t felt in forever! The two houses end up hanging out together because one house is just women and the other is just men there to celebrate one of the guys coming nuptials. Sparks fly between Brynne & Colin!

Colin is the black sheep in his family. He followed his uncle into Architecture instead of following in his father and brother’s footsteps. Now after years of his uncle Milton begging him to join his firm, Colin is finally joining the firm. He is taking over running the firm for his uncle. His uncle, Milton needs to concentrate on getting healthy after a cancer diagnosis. This causes unforeseen issues with the woman he has flipped over that he doesn’t even imagine happening!

This book will be a favorite of mine for a while. I just love the conflicts and the friendships! Loved it.

Ms Evelyn Sola has done it again!!! I was waiting with bated breath for this book because who doesn’t love a cheeky little workplace romance and the whole concept made me excited to see the execution.

As per usual SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Colin and his Honeybee were absolutely couple goals. From falling in love almost instantly to facing real and relatable issues couples face and then overcoming them, was absolutely beautiful to see.

You could genuinely feel the love Colin had for Bree and it was beautiful to see, especially seeing as she essentially only had her friends (who were hilarious). Heath was a character in and of himself and he made me crack up.

The epilogue at the end really tied it beautifully together because you felt like you watched them live out their lives together and get their happy ending. It was just chefs kiss.

Absolutely Good

Evelyn Sola is one of a very few authors that I don’t need to read the preface to know I will enjoy the book. When I receive her emails, announcing a new book, I get very excited. She really knows how to create unique characters and bring the story to life. I enjoyed Brynne and Colin’s love story and their steamy love affair. The supporting characters helped to complete the storyline and kept it fresh and compelling. I cannot end this review without mentioning Heath and Earnestine’s office shenanigans, they kept me in stitches! Oliver got off to easy in my book, he should have suffered worser consequences. Don’t know if I could have forgiven uncle Milton, but c’est la vie. I absolutely loved this book and can hardly wait until the next!

Secrets and lies make strange bed fellows

Brynne has worked so very hard for where she's gotten....too hard to have all her hard work to be lost to nepotism of the highest degree. Colin is dutiful to a fault. Will it cost him the love of his life? Whew, Child, the drama, the chaos, the spice....it's the perfect recipe for another awesome Evelyn Sola book. And as much as I love the MMC and FMC, it's the side characters for me. Everyone needs a Heath and an Ernestine in their lives. It's the devil in the details with these two. Uncle Milton and Colin the First can kick rocks though.

This book is a definite one-click, definite re-read, definite book club piece. I hope you love it as much as I do.

I’m trying so hard to be positive this year but I felt NOTHING (maybe slight annoyance) about this book. Like I rushed through the last 20 pages. But I did try to keep up with my thoughts (lasted all of four chapters) so here’s that:

I hate that stupid ass nickname.

Also if I never see the word “tryst” again, it’ll still be too soon. No one speaks like this…?

Also the conversations about race in this book were so superficial and I was more annoyed every time she brought it up. No nuance or actual conversation about it was being had because she felt she’d had the moral high ground because she was wronged, girl bye … there’s obviously always a space to discuss race but if you won’t do it properly, don’t waste my time on it. Serious eye toll.

I have read all of Evelyn's work, and I must say this book is my Favorite thus far. She has a way of creating relatable and interesting characters. While reading this book, I found myself wanting to be part of the story. I was pulled in so deeply that I had my own things I wanted to say to the characters. Also, I had several emotional reactions that I didn't expect. You will love this book. It was worth every moment I invested in reading it. Collin and Brynne's love story is magical. You won't be disappointed. I have just added them to my long list of Evelyn Sola couples that I love to read about.

Draw the Life We Love

Colin and his boys are looking to have fun and celebrate his friends last days before marriage. Brynne and her girls are ready to have fun in the sun. Fate has other plans for Colin and Brynne!! From the minute Colin sees her he is ready to risk it all.The connection is  instant.  In the real world things get complicated for these two. Colin fought for the woman he loved and she was able to show her softer side. They are loved by a group and friends and family.  This two truly go through hell to get to the end of the beautiful picture. I love hearing about the connections in the book to other characters

From lovers to enemies to reverse uno again

I enjoyed this lovers to enemies to reverse uno, back to lovers again. Brynne and Colin met by happenstance and their connection is there from the jump. But life steps in, or better yet, family steps in and upend the bubble they were in. Their lives are flipped and a happy ending wasn't so happy any more. But a combination of weather and family helped turn things around, putting them back on even keel. I absolutely love the way he loves her, especially through all of the chaos and drama. I love how Brynne didn't put up airs and fake it with people who messed over her. I enjoyed reading about them.

Game Change is Brynne and Colin’s complicated story and it’s a roller coaster I was happy to ride.
When architects Colin and Brynne have a chance meeting on a island getaway it was only meant to be a fling but fate has other ideas and it turns out Colin is tied to Brynne’s life in ways she didn’t see coming.
When Colin gets a promotion Brynne was looking at sparks fly and that’s when things get real interesting…..
This is a well written, emotional roller coaster with characters that are easy relate to and a story that’s believable.

This is one of my favorite Evelyn Sola books so far (and I've read almost all of them). I don't know how Ms. Sola does it, but her books keep getting better and the characters are so compelling! Brynne is a really strong FMC - smart, hardworking, sassy and Colin is so gone for her *swoon*. I became so invested in the development of their relationship--from feeling outraged for Brynne to cheering Colin on when she gives finally gives in to her emotions. This was an amazing read - couldn't put it down. I can't wait for more from Ms. Sola.

This is the first Evelyn Sola offering that I've DNF'd. Her FMC's across almost all her books are usually unreasonably combative, but Brynne was combative AND delusional. WTF is a "reverse catfish"?? She had every right to be pissed over losing the job she was promised to Colin, but she was mad at the WRONG PERSON. And her and Colin having the SAME ARGUMENT every 3 pages was just so tedious.

I'm so disappointed because I usually like this authors work.

This was really good! Evelyn Sola did it again! I was a bit frustrated and disappointed with the female lead (Brynne) at first but I am glad that she realized that Colin was not trying to steal her position in the company! It became a bit comical with the dialogue and conversations between them after they got back together. I don't blame her for being angry but I am glad that everything worked out. I am glad that Colin and Brynne got their HEA. I am also glad that Oliver got his just desserts! And that Brynne's friend, Amira also got her happiness, too. Great story!

4 Star Review Game Change by Evelyn Sola

From the moment they met, the sparks flew. Game Change is
architects, Brynne and Colin’s story and it was an entertaining read.

What was a vacation fling morphs into a complicated relationship that neither saw coming.

Their path was a roller coaster of emotions as tension between them increases.

Will they be able to get past the hurdles? Or are they destined to crash and burn?

Colt and Brynn were fire since eyeing each other over the fence of their rental house on vacation. They spend their entire vacation together until they went home back to reality. That's when the real fire work begins. It went to list to hate to love. This book was an awesome ride of finding love. Losing love and finding it again. Heath was annoying as heck. He and Ernestine keep me laughing and annoyed. Lol. Mrs Sola your books are awesome.

Hilariously good!

I enjoyed this book so much. I love how hard the FMC’s friends go for her. I laughed so hard at Earnestine’s office shenanigans. I only wish that Oliver suffered worser consequences but hey I’m not too shocked since it’s Evelyn Sola. That uncle needed to be slapped and that Ashley girl & her mom needed to be stomped fr because that’s just too much playing in peoples faces. But overall I really enjoyed this story!

This was a very good book. Colin and Brynn met on vacation and instantly fell for each other. Colin intentions was to date Brynn once the vacation was over, but that quickly changed once they found out that Colin uncle gave him a job that he had promised to Brynn. Bynn thinking that Colin took advantage of her wanted nothing to do with Colin. As they work through their problems, they rekindle their relationship. This book was hilarious, especially with Heath and Earnestine. Great book.

I absolutely loved this story. Brynne & Colin were everything 😍. I feel like every girl deserves to have their own Colin 😍🥹 This story put me in my feels so much I didn’t want it to end. I even loved the side characters and was just as invested in them as the protagonists. 😆
Adding this to my list of favorites.

Game Change

I’m a fan of Evelyn Sola’s books , I especially like the characters and this is no different. I appreciate Colin and his tenacity, he knows what he wants and keeps after it. I also like that Brynne didn’t give Milton a pass, he did her dirty and had to work on getting her to speak to him. I like the circle of friends both Colin and Brynne have and will await to see if any are developed further.

Well.. it wasn’t bad. I don’t know, like the beginning started good and then it kinda just didn’t hold up through out. I felt like things just happened for happening sake and we promptly moved on with minimal explanation. Also we did not get much background for the FMC, which is a shame because the little we do know sounded interesting. Also there were a couple typos/grammar Issues and this book was like ~100 pages too long, it dragged in some parts.
