Katherine Somebody’s watching me, threatening me, waiting for me in the shadows. Every day it’s worse, every day I’m more scared and alone. Desperation drives me to the dog shelter. I need a dog— a guard dog. Raider seems like the perfect fierce, strong, protective. But when things escalate, he turns out to be so much more than I thought he was…
Raider I don’t know who she is; I don’t even know who I am, but all of my instincts scream to protect this female. Her scent, her heat, her essence calls to me. On the inside I’m completely at her mercy, but I ache to hear her beg my name, to bend her to my will until she’s at her breaking point, until she’s utterly and completely mine. Danger lurks around every corner, and when I find myself back in the pits of hell, there’s nothing I wouldn’t raise to get back to her..
Guarded by the Hellhound is a monster romance with dark elements, containing mature elements, where the Villain is actually the Villain, but the Hero does appear to be a little morally gray - and a HEA is guaranteed.
Marit Prins may just look like your average nearly-forty woman, but you don't know what's going on inside someone's mind, until they start to write books.
Ever guessed that mother you wave to at school writes spicy steamy alien books? Or heard an ABBA song and thought how funny it would be if you summoned a demon with that song?
As a certified romance reader, Marit has been loving romance ever since she secretly found her grandmother's stash. American romance opened up a whole new world, and since she has been making up stories since she can remember - it was now time to put them on paper.
If you like crazy, spicy stories about aliens and monsters, stay tuned. There is much more to come.
When Marit is not writing, she is either running, cycling or sewing, but most of the time she can be found with a nice romantic suspense or crazy monster romance.

Marit Prins writes delicious stories about aliens and creatures associated with hell. Who has not dreamt of having a dog turn into a jummy man who just wants to protect you? Oh, come on, I can not be the only one!
Ok, so if you are the type who only wants to read about it (kind of boring of you), then this novella is for you. Well written, humour and spice! ❤️
I’m always thrilled when I come across a novella. Guarded by the Hellhound was a super quick and engaging read! Katherine’s been stalked for about a year ever since last Halloween. So, she decides to get a dog who can keep her safe and sound. She finds this really unique dog, feels a strong connection with him, and decides to bring him home.
Oh my gosh, this Insta-lust was so cute! Turns out Raider is a hellhound, and he’s super protective of Katherine. Their attraction was intense, and Raider wasn’t afraid to show who was in charge. He had a filthy and dirty mouth and knew exactly what to say to make you beg.
I loved it when things started to pick up more in the second half. I was determined to see what was going to with the stalker. The way he was acting, had me freaking out. So glad he gets what he deserves!
This book was a real treat! Marit’s novellas are a refreshing break from all the slow-burning books I’ve been reading lately.
I lost it when he transforms back and is in a suit. That was what was too unbelievable for me😂.
There is a story here but it needs to be fine tuned. The stalker is the basis of the book but there isn't enough of an angle to understand his motivation (which, IRL that is the perfect unhingeness of a crazy stalker but for a book I need more than just that she glanced at him).
Katherine was also too damsel in distress which I am never a fan of, together with something new, when I'm down I'll motivate myself like a girl power ad.
Then dude doesn't even remember his ID name but remembers how to be the Sir/Alpha in the relationship? I swear if you read most of this book like it's a comedy you'll enjoy it.
Eli was the most interesting last minute additional character. Other last minute additional characters weren't really needed.
So, not good or great, the bones are there to make a better story.
I was so surprised when i started to read this one. It had me into it from the first pages. Like excuse me a guard dog that turns into a loki looking man with tattoos and a need to protect and pleasure? Sign me up. What woman wouldnt be into this? LoL. The suspense was present in this book and while it is a short but deliciously spicy book, it had everything you need as a reader to pick this one up. That one sin that came in this book literally, if you know you know was hot and hilarious at the same time. I was even sad when i finished it because i wanted more Kat and Raider. I want more of these kinds of books and stories. I absolutely loved it.
Gleeful Goblin Review: When you are looking to adopt a guard dog because there's something just Not Quite Right and you want some protection; it makes sense to get a dog that looks like Bad News but who thinks you're his world. Our FMC Katherine 'Kat' thinks she's found that perfect pup in Raider and she's not wrong exactly....that's just also not the full story.
Raider looks like Bad News for a very good reason; he's not a normal dog at all but a h3llhound! But he's a hound with some holes in his memory; like most of it being fuzzy at best. But memory holes or not Raider is going to protect Kat come H3ll or high water.
This is a very short, fast paced, pretty much right into spice read. There's some light D/s aspects to it but nothing beyond pretty surface level. The story about why Kat has been in danger isn't clear for a while considering the length of the book and we are kinda tossed into what feels like a mid point of the story right from the beginning. For me it was a little confusing to start that way but not a deal breaker. Also, fair warning that the spicy times kick off basically as soon as Raider's bipedal form is revealed. So if it's a story driven and fluffy romance you're looking for definitely pass this one up. But if you're looking for darker tones and insta spice I think you'll have a good time.
In Guarded by the Hellhound volgen we Katherine en Raider. En daar komt Raider dus in the picture.
So we start with an intro to Katherine, who is current suffers extreme panic attacks due to a stalker while his means of torture are escalating. She goes to adopt a guard dog, said guard dog is a hell hound shifter and doesn’t remember his name or much of his past life. All he knows is that he wants to protect Katherine. Eventually Raider discovers he can shift and is set on protecting her from everyone trying to come after her or him.
Short and sweet read with action, kidnapping, stalkers, Guard Dog from hell, and tons of smutt. I loved the whole thing.
Key points in no particular order: - Stalker - Hell hound mistaken for a guard dog - Sub/Dom - denial play - public smex - spicy 5/5
A steamy monster romance with a hint of danger! Whether it's blood pumping from anxiety, fear, or excitement this is an amazing novella. It will have you binge reading this to the end and wanting just a bit more. I highly recommend this! This is not your average girl meets monster story, there is a slight twist. Where the true monster isn't the one you read about at night, this monster is closer than you think. So how does one ensure a chance of survival? Of course it's pitting one scary thing against the other and hoping you're not caught in the crossfire. Throw in a possessive lover, some steamy moments, and a fierce protector and this is your book.
Guarded by the Hellhound by Marit Prins could be described as a quick insta-lust romance with a supernatural twist. Thank you so much to the author for providing an advanced review copy of this. I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was such a fun dark monster romance novella. The plot was great and unexpected, with a story that veered away from the typical damsel in distress. I would have loved to see more character development, but I understand that is difficult in an 80 page novella. Regardless they were still well rounded characters. The spicy scenes were fantastic, especially because they did not overwhelm the plot. I highly recommend this story for anyone who enjoys a spooky dark romance set around Halloween.
4.25 stars. This short story is dual POV, well written, and a darker, hidden male hellhound in hound form (Raider)/female human (Katherine), bodyguard/protectee, escaping a stalker, contemporary fantasy romance. I empathised with Katherine’s fear and frustration with her situation and a lack of police support. I enjoyed seeing her confidence increase when she acquired Raider. I enjoyed Raider’s immediate protectiveness, though I was bemused by his short-term amnesia, which was never fully explained. I enjoyed the building relationship, and the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the happy ending.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
✨️morally gray mmc ✨️touch her and ... ✨️protector ✨️knotting ✨️🌶🌶🌶
Yalll... Raider had me BLUSHING. Hes got a mouth on him.
Our FMC, Katherine is a in the midst of a traumatic event and is just looking for someone to help watch her back. In pops her guard "dog" Raider who is a big as he is scary.
Raider has no idea who he really is, just that he knows he is a protector of some sort.
As memories start coming back and secrets start to reveal themselves the two find themselves in need of each other in more ways than one.
Absolutely loved this novella and highly recommend you to put it on your fall tbr pile
Thank you Marit Prins for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I struggled to get into this one. The characters started getting their grove on before they barely knew each other's names. I do like that there is a decent amount of backstory, but the spice ended up overtaking most of the plot. It was good spice, and interesting though. The pacing was really fast, but I had to go back and re-read a few times because it was really easy to miss smaller things because of how quickly the story moved.
Overall it was okay, but I think I will give the author's other novellas a try. I think the super overbearing MMC just wasn't my vibe this time.
This one was a decent quick read with some very enjoyable steamy bits. The story itself moves fast without a ton of depth and setup, but it still packs a punch. Katherine's experience with her stalker has you really feeling for her. It has the pressure of anxiety & a dash of fear that has you wondering how she's going to get out. Meanwhile, Raider takes the guard dog energy to a whole other level. His dedication to Katherine takes him to Hell and back. I would have loved to have more of Raider's backstory & lore fleshed out.
This book was HOOOOOOTTTTTTT. The spicy scenes were spicy-ing. 🥵🥵🥵
It does a great job of balancing the protective and dominant sides of the MMC. It wasn't the over the top "alpha Dom" but still had me melting in my chair- which I loved.
Check your triggers before reading- and if they're okay- definitely check out this book.
I will be reading more from this author 1000%.
Some of my favorite quotes/moments (no context):
"Now, be a good girl and get under the covers.”
“You can only cum on my mouth, my fingers, or my cock.”
“Close your eyes,” he whispers. “Just feel…”

This was a fun and well written monster romance that's spooky, dark and hot. Katherine has a stalker and gets herself a dog to help protect her. I could really feel her fear and anxiety :( Raider is a hellhound with missing memories but he sure knows he wants to protect Kat. When he finds he can shift, well, all bets are off. Expect to get caught up in the action, danger, suspense, gripping plot and hot spice as you follow Raider and Kat to their fab HEA. This was so fun for me and I can't wait for what's next by this author :D
I received an ARC copy of this. It was a brilliant read. It follows Katherine, she feels like she is being followed and decides to not be scared anymore and get herself some protection in form of a guard dog but this doggo comes with a few extras and boy oh boy are they great. he protects her in more ways than one. When she finds out who/what he really is, she falls hard and so does he. I felt all their emotions and went through it with them. Marit Prins knows how to write monster romance. 10/10 would recommend
This book was too cute and the KINKS😭😭👀👀. I wish it was longer because I love Raider (Dagon) and Katherine! Katherine went to the animal shelter to get a guard dog because she was being stalked and in fear for her life ( the guys is a fucking creep) and she stumbled upon Raider. Our MMC who is also a Hellhound shifter but lost his memory. Things progress in their relationship… as things progress🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️and we’re left with Katherine and Raider falling in love and getting their own HEA, but only after Joe gets dragged to hell.

A scared girl (Katherine), who adopts a guarddog (Raider) to feel more safe. And oh dear... what a dog she got. It doesn't take long before she finds out. Even with Raider by her side she is still worried and scared of what is haunting her from the shadows.
A beautifull story about love, loyalty, strength and wanting to give the world to that one person. I felt a pinch of "haunting Adeline" while reading.
4.5 🌟 Katherine lives scared of a misterious stalker ,so she goes to a shelter and a black hound catches her eye. Raider is a hellhound with no memories but Katherine brings all his protective instints. A fast-paced short story with some dark themes (check the TW) . Due to being a short doesn't has a lot of worldbuilding but the author knew how to keep the reader in a full engagement with a blend of sweet romance, danger lurking every turn and a delicious touch of humor.
My reading is a lot spicier than my writing. Which is totally fine with me. This was a delightful novella to speed-read through. I couldn’t put it down, but I had too.
The characters are cute and growly. I loved their dynamic. And I loved the continued worldbuilding of this universe after reading Hot for Hellfire and Demon Satisfier.
If you’re into steamy novella’s, you won’t want to miss out on this one.
Short and Spicy! I thought it was a great length for a novella. I breezed through it and enjoyed it! Great concept, great characters. Theres one bit at the end that felt a little rushed and I would have liked a bit more expansion on it, but overall it was a great read!
I received an early copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
A very short, spicy and very fast paced story with enough story to keep it interesting. The storyline of a stalker, clues and mystery gave it a great background!
I liked Raider’s character, very protector and clearly dominant but he just wanted to keep his human safe. I Have to say the way they “meet” was so original, a little traumatic too haha
Good bones, but needed more fleshing. I think the story tried to cram in too many parts for a short novella: action scenes and characters, but lacked connective tissue. I liked the idea of a Hellhound shifter, but couldn’t connect to either the FMC or the MMC. Plus we don’t even know why he had amnesia! Again good premise and bones, but missing some parts to fulfill its promise.
Marit always knows how to keep it delicious. If you love aliens and Demons then she is definelty a storyteller for you! Who doesn't want a dog turn into a hot man, who protects you at all cost? With a good story and nice spice🔥 Dont hesitate and read it!
Short but captivating with a little bit of spice.if you have a little free time on you’re hands I devoured this in over an hour 🥹 After this story we all go search for our own guarddog from hell
