They met in college. They were too young, the circumstances were too complicated, and they were making all the wrong choices.
Years later, Atlas Carter is trapped in a picture-perfect marriage, and Kairi Monroe is a rising author trying to outrun her past. One reckless reunion rekindles the spark between them, but love isn’t enough to silence the noise around them—or the secrets waiting to explode.
As the lines between loyalty, love, and revenge blur, Atlas and Kairi find themselves at the center of a storm that could ruin everything they've fought for.
Atlas Uncharted is a gripping, slow-burn romance with sharp twists, bold characters, and the kind of heat that doesn’t fade. For readers who like their love stories messy, real, and unforgettable.
I read the trigger warnings, but whew. He deserved to be tied to Ashlynn for the rest of his miserable life. And his mama should’ve never been allowed back into their lives. Some stuff is just not forgivable. And how are mamas cool with their sons marrying a gold digger masquerading as an “acceptable” debutant but not the woman you actually love?
And my big question is, if he is in IT, why didn’t he hide his money?
And my biggest question is: What did the mama do to get let back in and what did Ebony do? Where are the details? Or did they all conspire, plan, and attack together? In every other book, we get to see who kills who.
I love these stories. They’re straight up drama, toxicity, and manipulation but I keep reading the next and the next. Your stories are short and straight to the drama/plot, I can appreciate that.
I do want to know, is there a proofreader? An editor? Because there are always mistakes. A few sentences were repeated, words misspelled, wording off. I volunteer as tribute to proofread. lol
Atlas Uncharted I was definitely the surprise I didn’t know I needed. I will admit I didn’t read any blurb or synopsis or anything. I just went into this book and the only indicator that I had that this was gonna be different than anything else. I’ve read was the authors note at the beginning of the book. This story literally comes with everything and when you think it’s going in a certain direction it switches up real quick. His book has all the drama and toxicity that I didn’t know I needed and the main characters are upsetting at times, but it’s still kept me engaged. In fact, I think that’s what makes this book excellent and refreshing. I refuse to give spoilers so stop what you’re reading pick up Atlas Uncharted and you will be so glad that you did.
This book could've been exceptional. I liked Atlas and Kairi. He was a rich college kid and Kairi was not but attended the same college, and the bonus was she was with and rented a place with her best friend Ashlen. I'll add that Ashlen wore that friendship title very poorly. They all three meet at the same time and Ashlen comes on to Atlas hard and gets the guy while Kairi watches them. Atlas for his part feels he needs to have Ashlen as his girlfriend because she's who his parents expect him to be with because of Ashlen's socioeconomic status. Atlas will take over the family business one day and needs that good ole trophy wife and Kairi doesn't meet the requirements. Even though he has a much bigger place, Atlas constantly spends time at their apartment as his obsession with the woman he wants but can't have intensifies and then they're graduates and on to their lives.
Atlas and Kairi are supposed to have been friends in college, but they barely had any interaction. I couldn't help but wonder why the author described it as the two reconnecting like there was something more between Atlas and Kairi when it wasn't. She barely tolerated Atlas on most days but was kind and took care of him once when he was sick. Their mutual attraction was evident but a lot of the early part of the book was Atlas staring at Kairi and interfering in her romantic life and Kairi getting mad and storming away after telling Atlas to cut it out. I couldn't connect with their romance at all so when Kairi was in a relationship with Davis, I wanted her to forget about whatever possessive BS Atlas was talking about with no follow through and hoped it was one of those tragic love stories that could've been but never was. Alas, I was denied this fervent wish because for reasons that are still baffling to me, Kairi was "almost" in love with Davis but was really in love with Atlas. The story just doesn't support this love, it isn't shown in the pages.
There are so many inconsistencies, incomplete plot details, repeat paragraphs, lack of information, and information dumping, I was constantly in a state of confusion from chapter to chapter. Some examples:
1. Before they leave school for their lives, Atlas begs Kairi for a chance to make the feelings they have for one another into a real relationship. She isn't in a relationship at the time and he has not proposed to Ashlen but is supposed to that night. At this point in the book, the girls have had their falling out and Kairi knows that Ashlen is cheating on Atlas. For an unknown reason, she says no, and it's unknown because the author doesn't tell us. Atlas comes begging Kairi to give them a chance a couple more times with the same outcome.
2. Kairi gets so pissed at Ashlen, I'm certain their friendship is over. Next scene, Kiari is agreeing to come to some event or do something for Ashlen that requires a large investment of Kiari's time. No explanation whatsoever as to how they reconnected as friends.
3. During a random conversation, we learn that Kiari has a child. By Atlas. Three years after the last time we know they were together sexually for the first time which was also when Kairi went to Ashlen's baby shower. There's no pregnancy, no explanation, no wind up, nothing about how Kairi has been caring for him or not since the baby is in Florida while she's in New York. The information is just dumped in a scene.
4. All of a sudden we know that Kairi is supposed to go to college in New York with Ashlen, the next sentence we find out that Ashlen was so supposed to go too but pulls back from those plans so she can stay in Florida to marry Atlas.
5. The woman who raised Atlas is also the woman who Kiari's father is in a relationship with which is really not that bad of a detail to use as a surprise twist. However, both Kairi and Atlas end up at the hospital which is the first time Atlas sees his son. Shortly after Kairi arrives though, so does Ashlen who had just been a bedridden, lethargic, depressed mess from having her third late stage miscarriage when Kairi ran from their house to go to the hospital. There's also nothing in this whole book that pointed to Ashlen caring about anyone but herself so it made zero sense for her to go to the hospital.
WTF. I did not see that coming. This is that drama so many crave but want no part off. I saw this book on Instagram and was drawn in because of the cover. Why are we drawn to the relationships that are not easy and boring, it would have made Kairi's life so much easier. This is my first book from this author and I'm unfamiliar with her work. I love that it was not predictable until the moment popped up. The ending was unexpected. It's a short read and really enjoyable. I will definitely consume more of Shantel's books.
This story was Koo-koo crazy!! but for me in the best way possible.
To make a long story short. This was sort of a love triangle. Khari(k) and Ashlyn(a) became best friends after k's mother died. Her dad is in deep grief and just can't be there for her. The friendship cruises thru high school and on to college, where they become roommates. This is where they meet Atlas, a rich, arrogant, pretty boy.
Atlas and K have instant attraction, but for some reason, don't act on this. instead, Atlas starts dating A. Why? A just seems to fit his esthetic, i guess. They're both white, red heads, and rich. And A is very aggressive. So, yeah.
However, Atlas has an almost obsession with K, who happens to be working class and black. To the point where he runs every guy she's interested in off. He stares, he follows, but never confesses his attraction. This goes on for years.
Upon graduation, he asks A to marry him. He confirmed that he's not in love or even that attracted to A, but his family just expects to marry in his social circle. They go their own way. The end? Nope.
K moves to NYC to become a best selling author. A and Atlas marry and get pregnant, but suffer multiple miscarriages. A reaches out to K for emotional support. Atlas seduces K. and the chase starts all over again.
Listen, I've said enough. Needless to say, if you enjoy toxic relationships and trash TV, this is it for you. I didn't think I did, but I found out different. I loved this mess and was left shaking my head.
The way this book is the described. You would think it’s the regular old girl meets boy boy meets girl and there’s a little bit of drama, but that ain’t it. This book is so much more from the time I opened up the first page I was taken in. Like a movie playing in my mind you get the spirit these characters from the time that they are in college to when they’re older to watch one character grow from doing what they are being raised to do to fighting for something that he really wanted because society told him that you cannot love somebody outside your race. I don’t wanna get into detail because that would just be given the book away, but rather you buy this book in the store or you download it on your phone you will never regret it. This is definitely one of the books that I’m going to read again.
I read this in 1.5 days. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Jealousy, envy and manipulation will do a number on you! Ashlen was a selfish manipulator who didn’t care about anyone. How she treated Kairi was terrible. Atlas was caught in the middle of what he wanted and what was expected of him. This book is a prime example of how not to let others run your life. Find your own happiness and stay true to yourself. I did feel bad for Davis, though he was a bit over the top with his reaction during the second meeting. I have so many questions about the end. Hopefully we’ll get answers in Ebony and Mason’s story. Oh.. Ebony and Lu my girls. Nothing like friends who ride with you for real! Well done Ms. Shantel Davis!!! 🙌🏾👏🏾
Shantel thank you for finishing this book for me!! I started it on Vella and everything went crazy and I couldn't find it!!
Kairi got her happily ever after!! Her girls were her girls and Atlas couldn't breathe without her. The adage of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer was so true with she and Ashlan.
I was nervous for Atlas a Kairi to get together but I was glad that they did.
I'm going to re-read the book after I post my review. I'd say read it with me!
From the moment I started reading I couldn't put it down and I've been in a dry reading spell for a while now nothing has been able to hold my interest, but the minute Atlas, Kairi, and even Ashlen came along I was hooked. Atlas made me mad but he got it right in the end once he realized he was mostly the problem...overall this was a great read hated for it to end hope to get a story with Ebony and Lu they were Kai real friends. This was my first of this author and there was not disappointment...
This story started on Kindle vella and it wasnt finished when it was phased out a few months ago. I was so excited when i saw that it is now a finished book.
Atlas and Kairi were meant to be together, but he let the pressures of his family make a different decision. In their beginning Atlas was unlikeable and Kairi was a push over. It was like she accepted ill treatment from him and her best friend who he ended up marrying. This story will surely have you fussing at the characters with the many twists and turns.
Lord! I forgot how much I looove mess! It’s always nice to visit drama filled stories with extremely complicated characters that commit eye raising borderline sus deeds. A nice break in my syrupy sweet romances that tend to read and grow bored with. All these characters were a hot steaming mess in the best way. The only thing that slightly detracts from the story is the sprinkling of typos through out. They in. O way take away from the story. Also, I’m still sitting here like hmmmmmm as to the end of it. Enjoyed this story immensely.
I must start by saying this book was one for the ages. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a story so engrossing. This book had me sucking my teeth and the next cheering for the characters. I both loved and hated Kairi and Atlas. No spoilers but Atlas annoyed me for being spineless and not standing up to his parents. Kairi was also spineless, in the beginning, for not standing up to Ashen and Atlas. I wish men like Atlas chose black women first, for once!
There was just something interesting and different about this book. Maybe it’s the storyline and the fact I have not quite seen anything like it in a while. I absolutely love the characters and the overall theme in concept of the book definitely does grab one’s attention. I love the ending, but it does make me wonder who did it and will there be a part two for me to find out who might’ve done it. lol as usual Miss Davis did her thing.
I’ve been a reading dry spell where I couldn’t find a book that could hold my attention. But WOW, this story kept me on my toes all night. I literally only slept 3 hrs last night because I couldn’t put this book down. The tension and chemistry between the characters was palpable. I highly recommend if you love a book with well developed characters, drama, keeps you on your toes. Now Im sad it’s done because finding another book this good is always a rare gem.
Wow, what an amazing uncharted journey! First, I was very annoyed with Kairi for seeming meager, but I’m so glad she found her confidence and wasn’t afraid to use it. Atlas and Ashlyn were written to perfection and provided the very much needed drama. Lastly, this was a great book with a nice plot and love triangle drama to match. I’m glad I picked up another book by this author and I can’t wait to start reading more of her books!
I read this story based off the reviews...I can surprisingly say they weren't wrong. Aside from some typos this was a well written story about missed opportunities, second chances, and the blood, sweat and heartbreak that can take place before an HEA is even possible. I will be checking out more stories from this author. We'll done!
First of all, we need an editor. I would have given it 5 stars if it had not been for some of the repeated paragraphs. Atlas got on my last nerves. Ashlen was a hot mess. Kairi needed a back bone. This was wild, had the drama, mystery, and steam. I definitely recommend.
3.5 stars. The book was interesting and definitely kept my attention the entire time. There were some grammatical errors that interrupted the flow a bit like repeated sentences or paragraphs however I did enjoy the writing style. It was a nice read and I’m interested to see the other books in this authors catalog.
Ms. Davis has done it again! She has an ability to keep the reader wishing for more, more because it was just that good. All the while, keeping it cute and demure with the spicy.
I usually don't leave comments but I had to this time. I really liked the story, why I gave it a 4 out of 5. You usually give us a who took out a someone & how this time you let out the who.
This is a couple that attracted to one another but other people keep getting in between them. This story is excellent, exciting, and fascinating good. I enjoyed reading this book.
Expect the unexpected when reading this book. Interesting realistic read. I like the societal breakdown in dealing with certain people’s perceptions on whom they deem worthy of said relationships. I’ll be honest, this book had me in my feelings! Will be reading again!
I love an entertaining, messy love story. This was good, steamy and even ridiculous at times, but the plot kept me engaged the entire time. Atlas and Kairi were a mess and I don't feel bad at all about ole girl. Loved that ending lmao
Am I supposed to root for Atlas and Kairi’s relationship? 🤨 I knew this guy was a weirdo after he legit asked her to go to dinner with him and she got back to find him literally f*ngering Ashlen. Yeah, no. I’m not into toxicity
It was good it messed me up, I was on edge to the very end. It don't know what else to say, but it was a great read and I hope to read more from this author
