The Divine Corruption #3
Secrets
What happens when you fall in love with the woman you were supposed to kill?Noxus City is full of criminals, and Elena Baudelaire is one of them.
She parades as a florist, free from prying eyes who assume her to be nothing more than a local shop owner, while in truth, she’s responsible for over half the bodies at the bottom of the Savannah River.
Judge, juror and executioner, Elena lays waste to all those she sees fit, but even she isn’t untouchable. Bound to the city’s crime boss, she has no choice but to carry out his bidding, though his latest task comes with a reward. This target should prove easy as it means her freedom.
That is until she meets her.
The one who she was only meant to kill.
Noxus City is full of innocent faces, and Jessica Frances is one of them.
Born into a family full of love and joy, she wears her heart on her sleeve and carries a smile on her face. But like any tragedy, her spirit is stolen then shattered by the hands of a man who never cared enough to learn her name, and in that moment, a need for revenge bloomed.
Over the course of the next few years, the federal agent’s devotion to catching the mob boss consumes her, corrupting her in ways that no one could save her from.
That is until she meets her.
The one who was only meant to kill her.
Two vines stemming from the same ivy, though one reaches up, searching for the sun that’s been kept just out of reach, while the other intends to stop it from happening at all costs.
To reveal their secret vulnerability would mean losing it all.
But with everything to gain, it just may be worth it.

I write romances that can sometimes be sweet and spicy or deadly and kinky. I'm a firm believer in happily ever afters and men who always make sure their woman is satisfied first.
When I'm not writing, I'm drowning myself in a good book, losing track of time on the Nintendo Switch with my kids, and laughing or yelling at one of my husbands practical jokes. (He likes to leave fake spiders and roaches around.)
Also, something important to note. I live off Chai and Dean Winchester.

“you have unexpectedly and irrevocably changed something in me. something so deeply seated that i couldn’t possibly guess what it is. all i know is that for the first time in a very long time, agent, is that i can see again.”
i would’ve waited forever for this book; it has been one of, if not, my most anticipated sapphic read ever since it was teased in the previous book. and the wait was worth it, this did not disappoint, it actually went above and beyond my expectations. which comes as no surprise because if there’s one thing this author excels at is retellings and complex female characters. she managed to capture and convey the eccentricity of harley quinn to such an extent that during her pov i felt like i was hearing margot robbie narrating the birds of prey movie. and her interpretation of poison ivy’s stoicism? she was so jaded and indifferent, i couldn’t help but resonate. and of course, the mommy issues all around, that came after every sapphic’s ass. ugh, i want, no, need more of them. my favorite black cat florist slash poisoner girlfriend and her golden retriever federal agent girlfriend.
* i was sent an arc by the author in exchange for a honest review

Secrets is the third book in the Divine Corruption series, and while it technically works as a standalone, I highly recommend starting with Chances and Desires. The character connections hit much harder with the full context.
This story follows Elena, a botanist who unknowingly becomes a key player in the Babin family’s criminal empire. Nikolai—Alexi’s brother and the family’s brutal enforcer—uses a plant Elena grows to create a deadly toxin. Things spiral when Niko makes a critical mistake: he leaves a vial of the toxin at a murder scene, and the Feds trace it back.
That’s when Jessica enters the picture—a brilliant FBI forensic agent who just so happens to have a complicated past with Alexi. She’s relentless in her mission to bring down him and his entire operation.
To protect the organization and family, Alexi orders Elena to kill Jessica within a month. But the universe (and this series!) never makes things that simple.
If you love morally gray characters, tangled loyalties, and stories inspired by the darker corners of the Batman universe—think Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn—you’ll devour this book. The tension is constant, the romance deliciously messy, and the stakes higher than ever.
I really appreciated that Lee included a recap of the previous books—it made it so easy to slip back into this gritty, beautifully twisted world. And now, I cannot wait for Alexi’s story. Bring it on.

3.5 stars
I quite enjoyed this book but the dynamic between Elena and Jessica felt reminiscent of the previous 2 couples and as such it took me longer to finish this than it should have done considering it’s less than 300 pages.
The book really picks up in the last 20-30% and that’s when you really see the beauty of the plot and the feelings of the characters. I’m really excited for Alexi’s story.

Do I need to say anything? A wlw book by Miss Jacquot is just pure amazement. I loved every part of it. I got a huge crush on Elena myself. The tension, spice and the PLOT was wonderful.
It has everything you want. Hot girls, dark story, spicy elements ;), the opposite personalities that get along so well, murder, mafia JUST EVERYTHING.

This is my first ever FF romance, but the third in this brilliant series. I love how this is a spin-off from Poison Ivy. The immediate connection between the main characters is so great, and it just gets stronger throughout this whole book.
Lee just knows how to write a great mafia style romance. I love everything about this series and can't wait for the next one.
Elena and Jessica both have connections to Alexi Babin and they both dont want to have the connections to him. I really enjoyed this story and the connection to the DC universe is so great.
