My ex hated my curves. But his silver fox dad? He loved every inch of them. All. Night. Long.
I went on vacation to forget my toxic breakup. And I ended up in the bed of a ridiculously hot older man. Dominant. Sinful. And insanely good with those experienced, surgeon’s hands.
It was one wild, nameless night… Then sunrise hit… and so did the shocking I’d just slept with my ex’s father.
Yeah… so I ran.
Fast forward to me, pregnant with twins, standing in his ER, mid-contraction.
“Ella?” he says, eyes wide.
Oh, Doctor. If you think you’re shocked now, wait until you see your babies.
This is a full-length standalone, age gap, secret twins, ex's dad, doctor romance. It's full of heat and heart and, of course, a deliciously satisfying HEA.
This book had me stressed me out by the time I finished. The FMC was a hot mess and so insecure and anxious about every single thing. The way this book was written made Dom seem baby-trapped by Ella and he honestly would’ve been better off never meeting her. **SPOILER** She ends up leaving the city because she fails to communicate ANYTHING and he’s cornered into quitting his job/giving up a big promotion he’d been working towards before he even met her. She does this yo-yo emotional manipulation tactic with him and the MMC should’ve been pissed in the 3rd act breakup since this would be her 2nd taking HIS KIDS away from him with no notice. I was made for him. Save yourself the manufactured stress (with no real relief) and read something else. This was one of the few times I’ve read a book where I wished the main couple wouldn’t get together and the FMC would just keep her disfunction to herself.
I always pick these books knowing exactly what I'm getting into, but hoping for a different response. Everyone in this book, except for Gina sucked. The verbally abusive addicted ex. The MMC who kind of pressured the FMC in the beginning. The best friend/boss who thought she was entitled to all details about the FMCs ligfe. The highly inappropriate coworker who saw the !MC as a threat. Last but not least, the FMC who ran off with the MMCs children while actively in a relationship with him without a word. Not because he was awful or abusive, but because things got messy. Who hid the existence of the babies from him until she was forced into letting him know, even when she knew where he was all along.
Based on that title I thought this book was going to be very different. I was pleasantly surprised at every turn. It kept surprising me in a good way. This is an age gap, forbidden romance, surprise pregnancy story and I normally hate surprise pregnancy stories but this one worked. It wasn’t just to evoke emotions, even though it did. It served a purpose and it was done so well. I will definitely be checking out more books from this author.
I enjoyed reading this book. Lissa and Dominic meet at a bar and they end up having sex. She finds out something about him that makes her leave without a goodbye. They meet again when she goes into premature labor at the hospital he works at. I’m used to assertive alpha males and Dom just didn’t have it. So I guess this was a complicated romance with all of the unveiled secrets. But in the end Lissa and Dom get their happily ever after.
This was so bad, but I couldn't stop reading it 😅😅
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧: - billionaire doctor + chef - tropical one night stand - exhibitionism - ex boyfriend's dad - age gap (18 years) - accidental pregnancy + secret twins - forbidden romance - miscommunication/noncommunication - shitty coworkers and even shittier 'friends'
Halfway through this book, I was ready to compare it to two day old pizza — not great, not exactly terrible either, because it’s still pizza and technically edible. But by the end, it was completely overrun with mold. From the two main characters to nearly every side character, everyone was insufferable, childish, and annoying. Two books in this series were enough to convince me: never again.
This was a page turner. I absolutely loved Dom and Ella. Everything was so complicated between them, I didn't know what to expect.
An age gap, forbidden romance, surprise pregnancy - a few tropes to pull you in. The writing will keep you reading to find out what happens. I enjoyed Mia's writing style.

Dom saying he didn’t care if his son Leo was on board or not with Ella and the twins. Absolutely absurd. Dom going back and forth between wanting the promotion and not have me whiplash. He walked out in the middle of his shift saying he didn’t know why he was doing his job anymore. Goes to Ella repeats that and then 5 minutes letter says his job and the promotion is everything to him. HUH?
Carrie being mad at Ella because she “lied”? It’s not any of her business and she annoyed me so much that she kept pushing Ella to come back to work to only have a temp filling in for Ella? Doesn’t make any sense. Also Carrie telling Ella, that Seth and his job and his business and has nothing to do with her is complete bull. What married couple doesn’t talk about things and call each other out on their bad behavior?
And now Ella has the “woe is me” mentality and yeah I’m over it. What was the point in her moving to Chicago?
This book started out good but took a turn for the worse to me. 2 stars.
A sweet age gap romance and a second chance at family
Dom has pretty much done it all in his ambitious life. He helped invent medical devices and start up a very profitable company, was a talented ER (emergency room / department) surgeon, had been married, had two kids who grew up... it's because he was so ambitious and hard working, however, that he missed out on so much with the family he once had.
Ella had needed the break away. She had recently been dumped by her boyfriend, who had body shamed her and seemed to have a drug and alcohol problem. She was also feeling a bit run down from her job, an assistant chef to a well to do restaurant. She loved it, but it was fast-paced and stressful. While she thrived on the chaos, it could get to be a bit much.
These two people bump into each other at a resort and decide to have a night where they can just escape together. It isn't until the next morning she looks up the man's name and realizes it's her ex's dad. She escapes, thinking she'll never see him again.
Despite whatever decisions are made or moves that are taken, fate seems to be determined to have these two together. No matter what happens, they find their way back to each other. Thankfully, Dom and Ella eventually seem to realize that, and there's no more fighting it.
Overall, the story is sweet. I like that the drama keeps things interesting at both of the characters' workplaces. Things are realistic, such as decisions made, personalities, coworkers, etc.
The story is fine, cute even, though perhaps not entirely memorable. There were a couple of tiny spelling mistakes (it happens). One of the later chapters also had a repeated paragraph back to back and an inconsistency in it (his shirt was rumpled, but then a couple of pages later, it's crisp). Again, nothing huge, just something missed somehow in the editing stages.
Overall, I rate this book about a 4.25, but I'll round it up to 5. For the style of book that it is, it's a nice read. Good for a palate cleanser!
FMC is a mess. so there's a big no communication Trope going on and it's super annoying. the FMC and the MMC are both at the same adult only Resort and they meet at a bar they know that they live in the same area based on their conversations and she sleeps with him during his conversation he mentions owning a business and the name of it and after they have sex she gets up when he's sleeping and Google's the name of the business and realizes that he is her exes dad. then proceeds to cancel the rest of her vacation and go back home to New york. then it skips 2 months after meeting the MMC but 3 months since you broke up with her ex. where she realizes she's pregnant and then she die sides she needs to start saving up to move to Chicago. then it jumps 6 months to where she delivers her twin daughters early at Dom's hospital. when she wakes up and realized Dom is actually there she has an internal dialogue freak out about how she was saving money to leave to go to Chicago and how she needs to be gone ASAP because her daughters are hers and not his because she doesn't want to deal with any drama or anything. there's also this background drama where her ex was telling her about his dad and how he didn't think he was supportive of him but then the MMC is talking about trying to get his son into rehab cuz he has a drug problem but then I think the FMC was with her ex for like two or three years and said he's an artist type so there's definitely some sort of Disconnect there and it sounds like the ex never introduced her to his family or wanted her around his people and also broke up with her because he didn't like her vibe anymore or something. but the FMC was all sorts of bad decisions. it's pretty fucked up that she knew who he was the whole time and didn't tell him and then proceeds to literally leave with her kids more than once based on other reviews that I have read. so I dnfd

Liked this book so much more than Accidental Dad's Best Friend.
Ella's ex-boyfriend body shamed her and broke her heart. So she took a vacation to heal. Ella accidentally spills her drink on this older man's shirt and they spend the night together. However, Ella runs when she realizes this is her ex-boyfriend's Dad. Add in jealous, phony friends plus a super secret and this story takes off.
This book was really well written. I enjoyed the storyline. Dom is a HOT wealthy doctor & very generous in bed. Ella is a successful chef, nursing a broke heart but so kind. It was a rollercoaster ride but fate worked its magic and the HEA ending was perfect. I may have teared up a little.
I'm not done reading it yet and after seeing some spoilers I'll probably DNF. The first act of the book was great! Their spicy tryst in the tropics played out perfectly, especially the moment she realized the hottest night of her life was with her ex's dad! All of that hit the spot. Where it started to derail for me was when she shows up in his ER, preterm labor, she passed out. Dom says he performed surgery on her, indicating a C-section, which would be expected given that she passed out as was hemorrhaging. But then it's repeated that she delivered vaginally. Which makes zero sense. The petty rivalry between Dom and his coworker seemed very childish and ridiculous. Particularly for all the complaining Dom does over his son's childish behavior. He's just as bad. Post twin delivery, the timeline gets way too ambiguous. They hook up and the whole time I'm wondering just how healed she is from giving birth! There's zero mention of how her body has changed from just delivering TWINS! Which also bugged me significantly. Also, one minute she's breastfeeding the next she's bottle feeding with no reference to pumping. Which would be fine, except she's gone for significant chunks of time and her boobs would either leak or hurt or she'd need to pump.
Ella is also very insecure, which is believable to a point. Some of her responses are just too immature for a 30yo woman. I am coming up to the end of act 2, and I'm honestly done with it. Especially having read what the 3rd act break-up entails. Which is a massive bummer, because the entire set up was really well done! But it falls victim to over dramatization, and a lack of reality grounded characters. There is PLENTY of conflict baked in without forcing more down our throats.
My advice? Skip it. I'll check out her other books since most reviews have said this is an anomaly and they enjoyed her other stories. I'm just sad, because I had been enjoying it, even stayed up way too late reading. But the reality police in my head keep turning on the sirens, and at this point, it's too much to ignore.
It was tragic. FMC is constantly worried about something, she didn't have a father, she was in therapy, she promises herself that her daughters won't have a life like hers, so what does she do? She decides that while she's in a relationship with their father, she'll just take them away, move to another city, and change her number. She'll deprive them of their father before he resents them. Because things got difficult. Because instead of waiting for Dom to get promoted, they had to go on a date. Because they couldn't deal with one crisis at a time, they had to start them all at once. And she's so annoying that it's hard to read, and I didn't root for them to be together at all. First, she convinces herself that she can't be in a relationship with him, she won't tell him about the pregnancy at all, she'll raise the children on her own so as not to break up his family (but she broke up her own). Then they are together, but the situation is complicated, and she can't wait, she needs attention, but she won't talk to him herself, because the only thing they have in common is some kind of bond after a ons, so she just concludes that it's all her fault and she'll run away. Because that's what you do when you love someone. LOL What was that supposed to change? How was she supposed to save him? Everyone knows that Dom has twins with his son's ex-girlfriend and that she was his patient, so how was her running away supposed to save him from scandal and losing his promotion? Exactly what Carrie told her happened: “bigger mess, one more thing to put him off his game.” Carrie's storyline is also poorly developed, first she's her friend, then she befriends the annoying Winner, and Seth knows everything. Dom was a hopeless father and husband and cares about his legacy for the twins, which is why he gives up everything, and the author, of course, describes how he didn't notice the pattern in his behavior and treated Elle like his deceased wife. WTF? Hopeless, illogical, and Dom keeps apologizing to Elle, no one calls her out for her terrible behavior, and fate, of course, brings them together and they have a happy ending.

Mia Mara's newest book in the Accidental series is mostly a hit for me. I would give it 3.5 stars, because there are some parts that don't resonate with the characters for me. The book starts off really strong with a hot vacation hook up that is steamy and fun. Then the FMC figures out that oops, MMC is her ex's dad! She hightails it out of paradise and even though the two live in the same city, they don't meet again. The book switches back and forth between the two characters for their point of view and you get some insights into each of their lives. Really like this part. Fast forward to FMC going into pre-term labor at work and being taken to MMC's ER, because apparently her bosses spouse is also a provider at this hospital. The two see each other again, and FMC makes a decision to keep MMC from knowing that he is father to her babies. I didn't like that part, and her rationale was bad also. This is where the book started to lose me, once the MMC realizes they're his babies and the two decide to make it work, I didn't feel the distance between them was real or if it was, then how did they both fall in love so quickly. Also, the petty bickering with villains and drama that both characters had at work didn't really feel genuine. Especially the interactions with Winner in the kitchen. One minute the boss is singing her praises, the next she is not liking her attitude and then once again they are besties. It just felt really high school. Also, the FMC's boss and MMC enemy at work are married and that really had hard to believe interactions. Overall, I enjoyed the story, there were just some parts with the side characters that didn't feel well developed.

#AgeGap #Forbidden #OneNightStand #SurprisePregnancy #SecretBaby This book is written in first person with an alternating dual POV. It can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. While vacationing in a tropical paradise Ella (30) and Dom (48) have a fun meet-cute with a spilled drink that leads to a hot one-night stand. There are lots of spicy scenes as the characters prefer sex to communication. There is family drama for Dom with his adult children, especially his son. Leo, also Ella's ex, is an immature addict who seems much younger than his 30 years. Dom seems very career focused but then abandoned everything he was working toward quickly later. I found that confusing. Ella is kind of a mess. Her relationship with her best friend is inconsistent. One minute they are close and the next they almost hate each other. There is a minor mention of Ella’s childhood being shaped by a controlling mother and that her relationship with her sister is non-existent. I feel like that could have been better developed to help me understand Ella. Her decisions didn't make a lot of sense to me. She deliberately makes everything harder by not communicating with Dom. I had a hard time relating to either MC. My biggest beef was with medical discrepancies. Is he an ER doc, a trauma surgeon, or what? I don’t know of any world where an ER doc would take a pre-term labor patient to surgery. And then to have the delivery be indicated as vaginal did not make sense. I normally love the surprise pregnancy trope. This was my first book by this author after seeing this in a Facebook ad. It was entertaining but lacking in places. I might give another book of hers a try. Maybe if it doesn't have any creative medical references, I might like it better.
Dom’s the hot silver fox who meets Ella on an island. She’s left a long relationship where it wasn’t going to develop into anything more & just wants to spend time to close that chapter. She & Dom have a spectacular night together. By morning, she realizes Dom is her Ex’s dad. Oops! She bolts & leaves the island, hoping to hide in NYC. Fate has other plans for them & he finds her working in a restaurant close by to the hospital. This novel has plenty of drama, secrets they’re both hiding until they surface & the family dynamics with his older kids becomes an issue in keeping Dom & Ella apart. Both have dreams they want to fulfill in their careers & yet, their growing love for each other becomes stronger with distance between them.
When she leaves NYC with her girls, Dom takes time to decide on whether to leave NYC, leave his ER job, his chance to win the new position, leave his adult children OR does he try & find Ella and their twins, starting over as a new family? Will he get the 2nd chance to become the dad with the twins & be with Ella all of the time? After-all, in hindsight, he now knows he was too busy being a surgeon, chasing the money so his first wife & 2 children could have a better life with that family desperately needing a husband & father.
An excellent story to read. The emotions feels so real between them, when they are together or are separated, deciding on which path to take. I would give this a 4+ star’s rating with this page-turning story!

I am a fan of Mia Mara's books and normally enjoy her stories, but Accidental Doctor Daddy was just so-so for me. I liked that the story was an age-gap romance that delt with some real issues. Where it missed the mark were the main characters, Dominic and Ella. Dom is a 48 year old highly successful emergency department surgeon, who is being considered for an administrative position on the hospital's board. Dom is also the co-founder of a medical device company that is worth millions, yet has this silly petty rivalry with Seth, a fellow doctor, who is also up for the same board position. The two of them fighting over who is in charge, while a gunshot patient is bleeding out in front of them was a childish and dangerous behavior, that didn't seem believable of something mature seasoned doctors would do. Ella was 30, not 20 so some of her actions and spirilling thought processes seemed a bit over the top and also childish. Also, for most of the book, both Ella and Dom used sex or avoidance tactics, when faced with serious problems, rather that real open communication. On the other hand, Dom's one track fixation with his job, to the detriment of his family and everything else, and Ella being overwhelmed with taking care of twins, her job, and guilt was believable.

The beginning of the story was cute and on point for me, but it went downhill after that. I finished the book just to finish it, hoping it would get better—but it never really did. I didn’t like the rivalry between Dom and Seth; it felt childish, especially considering lives were at stake. Seth came off as a huge a**hole who cared more about one-upping Dom than actually saving lives.
Ella was okay, but I struggled with her back-and-forth mindset around returning to work, starting a relationship with Dom, and balancing motherhood. While some of her concerns were valid, most of the confusion could’ve been avoided if she and Dom had just had one honest, full conversation—which didn’t happen until literally the last chapter before the epilogue.
I also didn’t like Ella’s boss’s attitude once she found out who the twins’ father was—as if she was entitled to that information. Overall, it felt like the book had both too much going on and not enough development at the same time. Nothing flowed, and the lack of a clear timeline made it feel all over the place.
The epilogue was the best part of the book—it gave the closure and emotional payoff that the rest of the story lacked. A solid 3-star read for me.
She is on vacation to center herself after a bad break up. She only intended on rest and relaxation not to find a hot older man to have a fling with. They spent one incredible night together. She feels something she’s never felt before a deep connection. But the morning brings an unexpected revelation. It turns out he is her ex‘s father. Knowing what a terrible mess that would make she flees without talking to him. Not expecting to see him again. Certainly not eight months later when she’s wheeled into the emergency room to early deliver her twins, their twin twins, the ones he knows nothing about, and he is the doctor on call. There are a lot of complex layers to the story, and relationships to navigate. But one thing shines through and that is their connection despite everything going on around them. They will have to reevaluate everything., make sacrifices, and figure out what they really want in order to be the family that they can become. The character characters were well written and complex. Their spice was hot and steamy. And they finally find their way to their happily ever after.

This was a cute enough story. It was exactly what I expected, which was a quick and fluffy book that is perfect to read in between heavier or longer reads. There were some editing issues, and the story did go a little wonky in the middle, but overall I did enjoy it.
Editing-wise, there were a couple issues I noticed. First, there was the dreaded you're when your should have been used. I don't see how people get this wrong so often. Next, there was a misspelling. The word dad was in there as ad. Since ad is actually a word, spell check didn't pick it up, unfortunately.
The story, for me, feels like it went weird right around the time that they told everyone. At that point, Dom seemed to ignore her, but the author didn't really write it well. Ella was already insecure enough to move away in a week because she wasn't happy, but the author didn't really capitalize on why and how bad she was feeling. It just should have been more. Because of this, it felt like it was a random decision.
I doubt I would read this again, and I don't know if I would recommend it to others. One one hand, the writing wasn't terrible, but on the other... it was just Meh.
My third try on a BookTok suggestion. Honestly - the beginning was kind of promising. I was almost excited that THIS TIME I actually landed on something interesting. Umm. Not so much. It soon took a weird turn and I DNF'ed at 60%. The FMC just wasn't my jazz at all. I can appreciate a romance book that shows the reality of motherhood (not just cute babies and rainbows, but the sleepless nights, stress and doubts) and the difficult life of doctors (not just piles of money and prestige, but the pressure, tough schedule and stress). But it was not a fun read for me. Maybe too much reality? I don't mind a few reality checks in books, everything isn't supposed to be a fairy tale. But this one was just depressing. Instalove that I felt was completely based on physical attraction (no common ground, no slow burn, no real connection besides the sex) and a couple that I felt didn't really belong together. I didn't get to the ending so I have no idea, but this book just left me depressed and sad. This seems to be just the perfect example of people having great sexual chemistry and then getting together because of the oops babies. If this was really a reality check then they would split in a year.
Accidental Doctor Daddy written by Mia Mara is a polished well written romance. While on holiday following a breakup Ella has a one night stand with a silver fox named Dom only to realize he is her ex’s father. She promptly takes off and doesn’t see him again until she has an emergency deliver of their twins in the ER. He is quick to want to resume their affair and take responsibility for the twins but a public relationship is difficult for several reasons. Both characters are easy to empathize with; side characters less so especially her boss who seems like a fair weather friend. This story is well edited with no plot holes, a flowing story line, and good grammar and spelling. The author takes her time to create a well crafted story. Enjoy her efforts.

I had high hopes for this. Hoped for a bit of humour, a bit of spicy, some banter thrown in. What I got was a disjointed story.
Ella and Dom hook up on an island and have unprotected sex. The inevitable happens, and Ella becomes pregnant
Ella, at first, I thought she was just scared, maybe embarrassed to tell Dombas she'd have to tell him that Leo his son is her ex.. But when she starts planning to run away, I kinda change my mind. it seems a ridiculously stupid idea as she says she doesn't have a relationship with her sister and knows no one else in chicago.
Dom for a man who passed his boards and is by all accounts a clever man can't seem to add up. Ella, a woman he slept with 8 months ago, has just given birth prematurely to twins. In the chapters where Ella has given birth, he never once asks, "Am i the dad?"

Ella wants some time to deal with her relationship ending when she meets Dom. Sparks fly between them, and they end up having an amazing night. However, she learns he is her ex's dad and leaves without saying anything. When she returns home its not long before she discovers that she is pregnant. She doesn't reach out to him and plans to go it alone. Things never go as planned and she ends up in labor at Dom's hospital. He is stunned when he sees her and sees that she is in labor. Its not long before he is wondering if he is the father. Will they get a second chance? Will things be too complicated for him?
This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.
This one just didn't do it for me. One of the three main tropes is accidental pregnancy and this book seems like it was written by someone who had heard what babies are like but never been around them. There's also a time (page 287 I think) where the same paragraph is repeated twice. The book contradicts itself. One page says "his jacket was open revealing a crumpled shirt" the three pages later says "his crisp gray dress shirt." The romance isn't even good. Slightly spicy opener, massive miscommunication trope and poorly done angst, 3rd act break up, HEA. All of the romance happens off page apparently. One section talks about FMC remembering serving MMC food from her restaurant after closing but it's not on page at all. The only reason I didn't DNF is because I'm trying to finish every book I start this year.
You’ll love Ella and Dom’s story and it won’t take you long to get caught up in their emotional roller coaster. They meet on vacation and there’s an instant spark that leads to a night of passion. The next morning she realizes that he’s the father of her ex and she leaves without letting him know. Things get interesting nine months later when she goes into labor with twins and he is the Doctor on call. This is a good book with plenty of drama, a little angst and some surprises. The characters are great and well developed. The story line grabs your attention right at the beginning and keeps you page turning to the end and wanting more. Spice 3/5 nothing kinky. No cheating. Lots of second guessing, angst and poor choices where communication and honesty would've solved it. I didn't like how Dom said he wanted her but then he barely tested, had her feeling he didn't want her, repeating old patterns but all is resolved with an HEA all around. The ending was a tad confusing regarding where they live and if she gave up her career. I expected a bit more angst in regards to him finding out she dated his son for 2 years, at first he seems pissy but then nothing that's really where i wanted the first big angst to hit esp since its the title. Over all entertaining and for once someone hired an editor kuddos!
